Green Arrow General Discussion Thread

Any tips for the Fate MU? It honestly seems unwinnable to me, like if the fate is even barely competent is a near guaranteed loss. I took out a guys full healthbar once and he STILL won out once he git some space. The thing is GA HAS to get in with Fate, he cant outzone him. But getting in on Fate isnt easy.

It's really tough man. Basically just pray for an ice arrow trade, corner carry him off it and then just bully him in the corner. Easier said than done though. This MU is a nightmare but we're gonna have to get used to being counter picked with him.

It kould possibly be that the window for it is just shorter now... So if it's like 1 frame of a standing hurtbox, then we wouldn't get it as often but it would still be an issue. Also, the glitch would only happen after you release a shot so in some of those kases, patch or not, he wouldn't get hurt. Or maybe he did really just get up...

He was standing alot of the match, he didnt really just crouch shot, he'd draw an arrow and then duck too so i think he was just standing, I'll test it out tonight

Whenever I fight fate I always seem to find that theres a space just outside his normals range (Basically just his push) where you win the zoning war, up close you smack him I don't really know another way to put it.

Whenever a fate throws orb load an arrow, usually ice and then anytime they throw another orb shoot it, you either trade if they disrespect you with straight shot or they are forced to block and you can move forward.

Air arrows are also really helpful because, floating over MB straight shot gives you so much more space to start working your way in and if you do it enough times you can start to make fates want to stop you, which kind of works as full screen mindgames. Like they won't throw MB shot as much and then you can roll in more often etc etc
 
Batman is good, just make sure your defense is on point because you kan't D2 AA him after blocking a bat like some characters kan and Arrow's D2 is on the slower side. It all depends on how good your defense is. Otherwise it's probably a bad match up.

Aquaman used to be bad, and it still might be. You have to kommit to shooting arrows if you get lucky enough to get past the 23+ frame start up since FTD will katch you for good damage. The floaty jump Arrow has, along with his reliance on J3 (which is slower), makes it easy for Aquaman to AA, and then Aquaman has faster footsie normals. I think it went from terrible to bad, but I haven't played the new match up too much.

Wonder Woman is probably about even now. She kan check him and get a 50/50 off a jump in, which happens more often since Arrow needs to shoot arrows back to back more often to stop her shield toss. Pretty even or in Arrow's favor.

Cheetah is pretty even or in her favor. She kan jump over arrows pretty well so you have to bait it, then in the neutral, her D3 goes under Arrow's F2. I played against Xian a lot after Viennality. Arrow's slow D2 is again the weakness that limits Arrow. The problem is that she gets good jumps from anywhere on the screen and she kan bait the slow D2. I actually AA with standing 1 for some spacings or angles of her jump. She outdamages Arrow and has good mix ups.

Supergirl used to be an even match up but now it's just bad for Arrow. Supergirl kontrols the pace of the match and out damages arrow because you'll never get a 111 punish unless she plays really risky, which she doesn't need to. One good thing some people don't realize though, is that she kan't teleport on reaction to Arrow's regular shots. If she does, just hold forward and she eats a full 111 punish.

Catwoman is a pretty good match up for Arrow. It's either 5-5 or in his favor. Especially not that she lost her armor on her dash.

hitting a low arrow doesn't guarantee more pressure because it is not a hard knockdown, you can tech roll out of it once hit by it. if someone blocks low arrow you are at -2, from that position you could try to neutral jump to bait any pokes. or you can dash backwards or savage blast to reset the neutral. you could also MB b3 after because you are only at a slight disadvantage. all options can be blown up if the opponent guests right. sometimes you can check the person with another d1 xx if you see they have very slow reactions.
 
The arrow wouldn't knock them to the ground to do a tech roll d1 into arrow or f2d1 doesn't lift them into the air and the arrow is +10 on hit

Standing Arrows have more frame advantage so if you hitconfirm it and you don't want to use meter, you should go for that, but yeah... Low arrow on hit gives enough advantage to go into pressure, throw, etc. When F2D1 is blocked, going for the low arrow is reactable or fuzzyable but it's probably good occasionally.

If it's blocked, it depends on the distance. A max range D1~Low Arrow, actually leaves you at a good position because your D1 kan reach but a lot of the opponent's D1's kan't. So you kan look for their D1 and wiff punish it or do a F2 to beat their D1. Usually though, it's pretty good to do a D1 again from this range if you don't think they are going to jump. If they go for something that actually reaches you, against most characters, your D1 will be faster and beat them out of it.

If you're up klose, I think it's better to play defense and just block and prepare to tech throws. That said, if you make a read, MB B3 kan work.. That is, assuming they don't have quick multi-hitting strings like Supergirl or that you read that they won't do that string. You kan also backdash, but I'm not a fan of this option with Arrow. It kan give you space though.

If you want to kontinue pressure, you should be mixing up regular D1 and D1~slide into your gameplan. Also, D1~Savage Blast, but that pushes you away (out of pressure) and it doesn't kombo on hit. I really wouldn't do D1~low arrow for just pressure, especially if no arrow is loaded, because D1 alone gives some frame advantage on hit, and D1~low arrow is interruptible. Although, if you space it out, some characters kan't interrupt it.

Still early but so far the only thing that will be a problem is her special move curse. But, even then getting it started against Arrow will be tough for her.

Have you been playing this mu? What's the neutral like? Like what has worked and hasn't? So far I feel like I've become predictable with mb slides, dash ins and j3 attempts.

Have yet to play any real solid Enchantress', but zoning seems like the best bet so far. Shield doesn't stay up long enough to cause any real issues and from full screen, we recover in time to block the reflect anyways. Also when shield is up, MB Stinger is great for getting past it and then continuing to body her with zoning. Start up on shield also gives plenty of time to start your rush-down game.

They absolutely need that hex in this MU, so chances are when shield goes up, they'll go for the hex. That's when I would go in, just in case she happens to get the special move one.

Yeah, this is already what I've seen. In my experience, the shield goes up and she's already inputting the hex. The way to beat that was to hold a fire or ice arrow and time the release for when the shield disappears. The guy I was playing adapted to that by jumping back and using another wall.

For the record that's, an 88 dmg knock down trading with a hex that potentially eliminates the use of his special moves... From full screen, after the fire arrow I would dash in twice and she'd be getting up with another shield so I would punish with the slide.

He adapted to that by staggering 1 and going into f23 mb after my first dash in. Dude I'm telling you the more we played that mu he and I were basically of the opinion that he loses hard to enchantress. I'm going to work on it more tonight though. I'll post any finding that help me out.

Okay, so yesterday, I played my first good Enchantress. Most likely one of the best around right now. Noble Raptor's. Score was 3-1 for him, but I tried a lot of different things in this MU and I do think it's slightly in her favor as of right now. Both have to make some good reads in this MU but with her damage and hex ability, it seems like it's really up to Arrow to take the risks. The J2 is also going to be hard for us to deal with. Anyways, I was streaming at the time so you can see my set with Raptor here. I also run into two or three other Enchantress' later on and beat them with relative ease so right now it's kinda hard to say if I was just outplayed by Raptor or it was MU unfamiliarity or it really is a bad MU for GA. Match starts at about 22:35.

One of the adaptations I like that you made was canceling arrows to get in. Not sure how much it helped but you did seem to throw him off a bit doing that. I know for a fact you're guaranteed an electric arrow before the startup of wake up Hell's gate. That's specifically after the knockdown from MB slide. Might be best to use electric arrows in the neutral? Idk don't know if fire arrows are fast enough but I haven't tested. It's also possible to take a step back and meaty her wake up push with a JI2 for a full combo. Overall I don't think you experienced what I experienced yet. Wait till you play a long set and they start adapting. Raptor seemed aware of most things but he wasn't even using his B2 string or those unblockable setups... I want to keep hearing from GAs about this mu though thanks for this!

Yeah, we'll definitely have to see how this MU plays out over time after new things are figured out and tested. Played another in WOTG yesterday and just rushed her down. So far Raptor's the only Enchantress I've lost to but I'm sure that'll change as people get more comfortable with the character.
