Tekken 7 General Discussion Thread - OP Updated With All Tekken Info

It's all so very confusing.
Possibly useful information for people who want tekken fight money to buy shit and/or cosmetics unlocked in the store.. I dunno if season passes or other editions come with this stuff unlocked or not - but mine has quite a few cosmetics locked into treasure chests.

Two methods work for this, but only one method works on console. I mean I assume it works on console.

Go to the control scheme option, where you configure your gamepad and swap the 3 and 4 buttons around. Reason being the 3 button is by default the same button you use to choose menu options, advance to another match or start over after losing.. and the 4 button is part of Katarina's 4444444444444444 string. So swapping the two around effectively makes them one and the same.

Now, you need either a turbo controller/stick or if you're on PC but don't have one, you can use a macro program* for this (you aren't going online or anything so this is totally legal/safe). All you do is start a Treasure Battle now with Katarina, and if you have a turbo controller, just make it spam the new 4 input.

Kat will kick her way to victory quite easily, and even in the Divine Ruler ranks still wins about half the time, sometimes more. When you win, since the 4 input was swapped to the same button that accepts menu options the game just moves to the next match. When you lose it restarts. It will run indefinitely. Super nice to set up when you aren't home and let run all night to unlock rare stuff.

Now, it leans towards unlocking gear for the character you're actually playing, but I've still unlocked tons and tons of rares for other characters. But if there's a specific item you want, and that character he a one button spammable string string or move, this could be tweaked I'm sure.

Viola. Stupid, but for people like me who hate grinding that kind of stuff, it's super damn nice. I like the color changing hair and a handful of the rate cosmetics, but mainly I want to unlock the gallery stuff and this should handle that neatly. Obviously playing online grinds money very quickly, but I don't have a ton of them, so a lot of my online play is short session, and even still, some things are totally locked regardless.

*I used TinyTask. Super small and free. Just make sure you get a real version. The first link I found was for something asking for money.. as always be careful and don't download shit you aren't 100% sure of.

If you use TinyTask make sure to go to option, choose fast playback and cont. loop, then hit record, mash J (default keyboard control for 3/Menu Accept, but since you edited the 3/4 inputs, it's now 4/menu accept) 5-6 times and hit the record button again to stop recording. Get Treasure Battle going, hit Play on TinyTask and the click the Tekken window. You may have to have T7 in windowed/borderless mode for this, mine already was so I don't know if it will work with fullscreen.

Poof! Some advanced macro programs can interact specifically with the Tekken window and nothing else, allowing you to do other things on the PC, but I didn't try that hard.

I mean, i guess thats cute....but I'm one of the very few that hates cheating like that. Reason being, it cheats YOU from practice and experience with that character. Sure, its against the computer, but at least it gives you practice on working your flow with that character. And fight money is soooo damn easy to come across in this game. Just do treasure battle non-stop

Fair enough, but if I'm putting time in I'd rather sit in training mode and control the situation rather than play vs the AI in Tekken which is absolutely NOTHING like humans. The ai is bizarre actually. And like I said, it's not purely about money as a lot of cosmetic stuff is locked - at least for me. Maybe other versions have this stuff unlocked, but mine doesnt.

The idea of spending 20+ hours vs the ai is actually it's own kind of hell. I played maybe.. 3-4hrs of ai stuff yesterday and about 2 the day before, just fiddling around with characters "in motion", and I wanted to drink bleach.

Additionally this isn't something you do INSTEAD of playing, but something you set up when you're sleeping or busy or whatever. Id never say "damn I feel like playing Tekken.. but I think I'll grind FM instead"

Smoke_Of_Finland

Believe in the hop kick
Treasure battle switches stages and characters and the opponent moves so it's good for learning to evaluate the distance to the wall and learning to be able to adjust combos on the fly. If you are picking up a new character I wouldn't call it a total waste of time. You are also getting a varying amount of blocks/normal hits/counterhits so you gotta hit/block confirm.

I might just get some online rounds with my Eddy. I feels like dancing ;)

Does ANYBODY have play on the PS4 ?Question mark?

Didnt know content unlocked after a certain number of matches, that's good to know. Do you mean a certain number with each character? Like x number of matches with Leo unlocks such and such an item automatically, or when my account wide match number reaches a certain point, it unlocks things?

Also, I dont mean to say playing the AI is useless and I see the point you and JBeezy are making, I'm just saying the 'trick' is meant mostly for when you're not playing at all. Just set it to do its thing while you're shopping or the like. When it comes to the combos and pickups and distances and such, its probably faster to learn that stuff playing vs the AI, but I always find - speaking for myself - that whenever I do that kind of thing vs AI, it never translates well to real matches. I know that sounds kind of stupid, but like, I can play AI with GREAT hit confirms, nail every combo, all that, then jump into a real match and have to kind of relearn it all. I think its a type of nerves I guess.

Also, this might make me a bad person, but Claudio is fun. I decided against Katarina, she's great, but not for me. Miguel still amazing though. When I have free time but cant play for one reason or another I watch tutorials on youtube for characters, it helps me understand things.. and Claudio has a trolly, but interesting design.

KBDC on left side are catching up to right. Good enough to use in matches now, though I still fuck up occasionally and can only really reliably get 4~ in a row. Still more than enough USUALLY to get the shit out of dodge.

That's a bunch matches lol.

So, how do the rankings work in T7? I've googled a list with the orders tiers and such, but.. let's use sfv as a comparison, bronze was scrub/hell tier, silver was starting to get shit together, and gold was about when you were actually playing the game, plat was when you started to understand the game, and diamond on was when you started to be *good* at the game (good in terms of online/ranked environment). That's kind of how I thought of things anyway. I know it's not that cut and dry, but as a whole I feel like that's a reasonable representation.

Ok, so question..

Why does no one play Master Raven? I found some somewhat older stats on character choice numbers, and you never ever see her in general. I know she's not easy to play, is that all it is? Looking through her stuff, she def doesn't look *easy* but nor does she look *that* difficult. A lot of her move list is just several versions of one thing.. A string may have a teleport ender, then a fakeout version, so one move takes up three slots.

No fast launcher I know, but watching a lot of play, and from my limited experience.. how often do people really get mileage out of launching based on -15? Most launches I see are either whiff or movement based (side step, etc), or read based (hopkick low crushing) or mix based.. not counting CH stuff of course. So while it's a definite weakness, I dont see this like.. shitting on the character - but then maybe it should be looked at not so much as "she cant launch" as "its safer to try to launch her".

Just curious. She *seems* to have a lot of really nice tools. Strong stuff and ways to mix a lot of it up. Some really solid lows, and a couple arent very negative aatttt allll.

Dunno. Just weird we dont see her. She looks cool too, and people love ninja-type characters. Shrug.

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
Lost to the best tekken player we had, some tournament seeding went wrong matched him against me in my first match.

On losers brackets i won every single one who challenged me gotting into top 8, where i lost to Smith which plays against me regularly, he picked Lars btw, its been a while since i've seen that MU, should've picked Claudio to counter it.

But that's life.

International competition are damn, strong, but we're still better, its officially confirmed that our scene has players with international level caliber of some sorts, not for winning events yet, but to get the experience and go far enough to actually mean something we do.

One of the players who faced JCDR was here, he won smith, but then he took his revenge and eliminated him.

The other foreign player got destroyed by Albert's Asuka, 3-0 in tournament, he pretty much lost to everyone of my team, i won against him 4-1.
What characters were in top 8 besides you? (Jin, Lars)

Congrats on the placement. Jin is bound to win one in T7 for sure. Dare I say he is almost or as good as tekken 3 or 4 Jin minus is infamy back then.

Eliza's execution is needlessly tedious. Why in the shit...
Lol. All shoto characters should have those inputs. Remember. Tekken is a game where projectiles are not common and exicution is rewarded with W's.

Learn the correct inputs qtr & half circle motion correctly though. It's key in tekken for both offenses and defenses for your characters.

@Eddy Wang Almost forgot! Congrats on doing well man. Seems like you made your presence felt. ;)
I didn't do well lol, everyone was expecting me to win, next time i will pick Kazumi for Ivo and Claudio for Smith, since these seemed to be their demons.

Hwoarang, Jin, Xiaoyu, Asuka, Feng, Eddy, Lars, Bryan, Leo.

Me and the guy who lives in South Africa repped Jin, but he also played Hwo, Smith played lars in the top 8, The guy from portugal is extremely solid and he played Bryan and Leo.
Albert mains Feng and Asuka as alt, but his Asuka did most of the job.
Some randies picked Eddy but lost anyway.

I can do that qc and hc stuff easily, I'm originally a SF player. It's just the mix of command normal into special into the weird ass fadc cancel that's tedious. i dont mind QC inputs at all, its just the mix of shit her combos require is tedious is what I mean. The ones that do her real damage are just annoying.

@JBeezYBabY Josie is awesome. I enjoy her a lot. Dunno how to help about the spacing outside of KBD like a maniac.. and I try to check with DF3 occasionally, its +11 OB, but transfers into SWS, so I dont think the +11 is exactly +11 since you have to let the stance finish if you dont do anything, but it's quite fast for the range, at i14. Her usual SWS stance caveats apply but it does work as a fast spacing tool to check people that try to just run you down. She has a backsway of course but.. ehh.. lol. B2 is a sem-rangy high option that's like +1 OB, but of course it moves her forward.

Do you think her damage is low? I kinda placed it in the middle. Low to mid 60's off everything more or less, except df2.. Havent found a good mix of wall carry and damage on that. 59 is about where it's sitting.

Oh i need to start using DF3. Its a pretty good low that goes into a 2 hit combo with 2 i believe. So i can fake opponents out. DF2 is a dope launcher. I kinda created my own combos with her before i even saw her combos online :) So in THAT regard, im getting better at pin pointing what to look at on learning a character.

I did get my ass kicked online. Well....i take that back....i only played 3 opponents and lost to 2. Not bad for a first time Josie player, especially against a Geese....ugh...whateva...

I will be playing a lil bit more after work.

@villainous monk Ok so....i just started using Josie like...yesterday lol. And although her combos are nice (damage is a bit low) how do you maneuver with her tho? Like you REALLY need to space yourself out cuz her range is WOMP!
Really!? You don't like her range? I think it's pretty good considering her moves take meaty steps forward.

I tend to poke and abuse her b2 ALOT!!! Trying my best to sneak in f/d,2 to start her bullshit. U,f3 goes over most projectiles in the game and she does good damage in her combo's.

I tend to do a lot of ss with her in hopes of catching wiffs with her with d/f 3,2 and other d/f 3 strings because their do good on ch when they connect.

I'm still learning her right now and I kinda want to spend a lot of time learning her. She pretty damn good.

Well....I only day 1ed her so everything u mentioned i guess i gotta play the footsies with that. Her ss is awesome, especially her 2~3 cancel deep step (whatever that shit is called) string is pretty good. But against button mashers, hell nah. I need to B2 more. I found out on counter hit it turns into a throw which is awesome! I guess for only using her for 1 day, i learned alot. So i guess i just need to utilize her tools more into the spacing game. In other words, MUSCLE MEMORY ;)

This is why I love Tekken. Despite other games that have an emphasis on top tiers, ranks and other useless things. You can still have a great unique top 8 with so called mid tiers and lower ranks & do very well. Its Just doesn't really exist in Tekken so much and it truly does matter on player skills and knowledge, experience and just good ole grinding in pratice mode. A true example just like yourself is Nyc Furby who took no pitty and exicuted all prisoners with no mercy on his monstrous run in losers to win NEC 18 F R E E!!! With Bob.

Free!

So consider yourself a winner. Top 8 and you sound like your very good with your results. That's a damn good sign and you should be proud. Plus knowing how the international community is playing & competing like you are is good.

Jin will get a victory soon enough especially with the new PS4 patch that has seen a influx of Mishima's everywhere.

She makes people tilt. I get vexed when I play against her with kazumi because the bitch out pokes me and I get shook when my opponents use B2.

Damn good character tho.

THATS what i need to do. Out poke! Which is the reason why i chose to learn her. I get hesistant, but i need to learn what strings are fast to allow her to immediately attack after.

Fast don't mean squat when it's not safe.

Always play hard but safely. You don't to get hurt right:D

In the new year. Lol. I promise I'll put my name on it. I'll grab a shitty PS4 soon enough but between taking care of the family and soon to be school it ain't in the cards.
