MAME Gameplay Record

hey guys,

i would like to ask which is the best way to record gameplay from mame?
i have a pc and i would like to record classic mk gameplay.
do i need a capture card, any hardware or is it possible with a software?

Lots of ways. However the totally free way is to use obs.

It's meant for streaming, but you can use it simply capture gameplay as well.

i want to record offline vs first. if some day i found some decent online opponents, then i may record online matches too hehe.
why u ask?

Well there's a difference between recording online and offline or streaming, I mean as far as the best way to record. Thats all.

you mean lag?
if the obs lags while recording offline, then i have to buy an capture card i guess?

There's a 'Play and Record Input' feature in MAME. It shouldn't cause any lag, and its a small file. Then you can play it back later and record it to video.

I guess if you have a capture card it wouldn't matter much, i'd probably still record it after I was done playing though.
