While I agree with the sentiment here, I think that switching characters will always be legitimate tactic that is perfectly valid in every other fighting game.
i agree wholeheartedly. what was most impactful for me about seeing it in the finals was that i'd been falling deep into that counter-pick mentality myself. i was obsessing way too much over tier lists and matchup charts. it's starts to seem very constricting after awhile.

but all of that is very important, especially with a whole lot of $$ on the line. if you stick with 1 character all the way through and ultimately come up short, you might be championed as a character loyalist and congratulated by that community, but in the end i'm sure we'd all rather have the $$ than a pat on the back. and in a way, the strategy of having a lineup that can handle any mu and being proficient enough in all those characters to win at a high level is a skill worth congratulating in and of itself.

Gross' run at IPS finals, the ending to Gross Vs Tekken Master at evo (not on stream but on camera), Semiij beating Sonicfox, and anytime my friends win on stream.

Honestly, seeing WhiteBoy win that first tourney gave hope to all the newcomers in the FGC. Some of us get really intimidated when starting out, to the point we don't even feel it's worth the time of giving it a shot. Although WhiteBoy is a seasoned player, he's sort of new to this group of common top 8-ers. That gave me so much inspiration that I decided to jump super deep into the scene. (well as deep as time would allow someone with a full time gig demanding time). I've still never made it to a top 8, but I'm hoping I can possibly change that by getting as much knowledge from communities like this one as possible.

Anywho, I've also loved seeing the rise of Slayer in this scene. I never knew he was a top 8-er, but during the tourneys they talk a lot about him always finding success in NRS tournaments. I mean, being honest, I've seen him once in a top 8 and actually almost took the Fox down, but unfortunately, nerves may have gotten the better of him because he ended up getting beat in the second 3 out of 5 set.

That said, don't want to go too far off topic here, but can someone point me to a video of Sonic Fox' entry to the fighting game community? Was he always this unbelievable to watch? I've seen fatal 8 which is where I first saw him play. I've always been a big MK fan, so I had to check that tourney out. And his Erron Black was nothing short of amazing. But I've heard stories about him owning ppl in Injustice 1 back in the day and all I can seem to find is the 2014 top 8. Which was good to see, but I wouldn't mind seeing the very first match and hearing what the commentators and other competitors are saying. I've wondered if anyone expected him to be a frickin prodigy or the "Jordan" of Netherrealm Studio games. Seeing things like that gets me pretty pumped and motivated -- confident in feeling anyone, even some black kid who couldn't afford a gaming system or arcade room quarters as a kid -- can somehow some day place among the top 8 best players in the ......state ... country ... maybe even the world!!

P.S. I've been loving this community!! Everyone's super helpful and smart as hell when it comes to all the intricacies of these games. Please keep it up because there are more beginner players like me simply afraid to participate because we don't know what the pros know. Communities like this encourage us all to try and close that knowledge gap and get more WhiteBoy-esque winners in here!!!

:D

Wow -- this was a very comprehensive list.. I'm impressed :D

Here are some matches that I want to see in tournament just for rivalry purposes moving forward

Coach Steve Vs Starcharger

Tweedy Vs Honeybee

PG Punk Vs Sonicfox (In 2018 though not now. Him beating Nubcakes at SCR 2017 makes this match something I want to see in future iterations of the game. Right now Sonic is just too ridiculous)

I want to see Gross Vs Dragon Part 3! I am looking forward to that simply because Dragon is for sure gonna be labbing Green Lantern going into E League.

I want to see what Emperor Knicks can really do with Darkseid at E League. He cleaned up at E League and he made Darkseid look super good. The question is can he do that against the elite Gods of Injustice 2?

It appears that our Lord and Saviour Tom Brady has forsaken us and passed the torch to Buffalo to continue Sub-Zero's reign of terror!

The question is can Buffalo do everything he did at WOTG's at a offline major?

I miss Brady of Old though. Personally him having a plethora of characters at a high level was the Brady I wanted to see in this game and I personally hope he has a Aquaman, Raiden and Sub-Zero team for this game moving forward. I think Buffalo will probably be the SZ loyalist as he has a more offensive and defensive style whereas Brady is clearly a defensive player!

I think Revet and Yungmonster and whoever they have a rivalry with would be big in this game especially considering the characters they pick. I think in 2018 they are gonna be on a super high level provided they still play the game. With Revet forming a strategy against Semiij I think once they develop their data against the top players they will start the rivalries that we can look forward to in Injustice 2.

Do people remember the way Pig Of The Hut used to lab for IGAU? I don't think anybody has done it like that yet for Sonicfox. Captain Cold tech needs to be developed to deal with Level 2 character power, Red Hood needs to be labbed extensively, Black Canary needs to be labbed extensively.

People need to lab obscure characters too and do it from now because Sonicfox's element of surprise is one thing people need to get across. Its bad enough he is crazy good but he bodies people mainly because they don't know the match-up!

I think one who in time could actually catch him if given the opportunity is Tekken Master and Illusions simply because of their range of characters. Biohazard as well given his selection of characters!

I like that we have less character loyalists simply because we get to see how these characters can be played differently at a high level!

Variety of characters is a good thing and I like the play to win mentality that more players are having for this game. However some character loyalists of course is good if only to shake up the narrative a little bit.

The greatest rivalry right now is Sonicfox Vs The World at this point. Him going into E League is looking like he going there to collect his money. I think he can be stopped but its gonna require intensive training and being ready for him to counterpick by having characters ready! Everyone is hype when he loses, everyone is hype when he wins with a new character.

I think what I want to see is something that hasn't been done to Sonicfox since Winterbrawl in 2014.

KDZ has been the only person to ever reset the bracket against him In Grand Finals and convincingly beat him but in IGAU and lord knows The Fox learned from that. To my knowledge this hasn't happened again. If Sonic goes to losers and makes it to Grand Finals he usually wins! A big moment in Injustice 2 is for Sonic Fox to make a Grand Finals and actually lose.

There is a ton of storylines that can happen for this game. I have hopes that 2018 is gonna be very very good for this game.

In my opinion this game isn't boring. When its all said and done when the next MK comes out I actually legit think this game could run alongside it just because its much more footsie based and so the level of play is something fighting game players would be prepared to grind out.

Not too much overpowered stuff in this game that can't be regulated provided the players are open to use all available tools the game provides!

Can we add that madzin vs king Batman mirror?! That shit was really fun to watch in some weird way. 4 d3s and f3 after f3 lmao. D2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,4,b23 ftw though

Her J2 imo is to me underrated. The active frames beat a decent amount of jump attacks, and when you land it on a standing opponent your +5 or more even if u hit only 1 hit of the j2. I usually do j2 s2 tick throw (DBF1 or db1). The timing to me doesn't seem too awkward depends on if your trying to Air-Air or apply pressure on a blocking opponent. The earlier the better for Air-Air, and slightly at the end of the peak of her pounce arc for pressure

5 things from me and others have also mentioned them:
-Madzin popoff
-Gross popoff
-Honeybee at EVO, I like his match and popoff when he sent Sonic to losers
-Yammini at Viennality
-Biohazard's Bane hype during first Pro Series, everyone lost their minds at the 600+ damage combo

Madzin vs Chair
Madzin vs King SCR

Don't really know about much else tbh
Maybe Slayer eliminating Sonic/putting Theo in losers in the same tournament is a worthy mention too.

I'm going to add Dragon vs. Theo in Winners Finals from SCR -- that set was awesome.

Also Bio vs. King.. And probably some other set from this weekend that I'm forgetting.

Whiteboi actually used to be a consistent Top 8 placer and a threat, until he became washed up upon release of MKX. He was so washed up that we figured he'd floated off into the middle of the Atlantic somewhere to sink and would never be seen again.

But he somehow floated back to the shore, showing that maybe all he needs are broken characters like Doomsday and Scarecrow (;)) to be successful again.

I literally just watched u and ur captain cold get eliminated by Slayer. In MKX I felt he was one of the more underrated players in the scene, but there's no doubt in my mind now that he's super OP.
