One of the key benefits of the influx of additional funding to the Injustice scene has been the influx of talent at nearly every major thus far.. And that density was on full display at SCR this weekend, even with the ever-present Sonic Fox away defending his anime-game legacy at CEOTaku.
In today's Top 8, we were treated to an array of fantastic sets, featuring a diverse group of characters, and numerous close finishes. With Deadshot, Supergirl, Captain Cold, Bane, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, Robin, Red Hood, Batman, and more, it was a great snippet of Injustice 2's current meta.
But in the end, it was Theo (and his socks) who'd come out on top of the pile. Theo has been patiently working his way up the list of finishers with each passing event -- and with Sonic out of town, he took advantage of the opportunity to score his first Injustice 2 major win.
Theo's full palette of strngths were on display: patience, spacing, the abundance of last-second micro-reads in the clutch, and an unflagging control of the airspace. And although Dragon would give Theo a run for his money in two great sets, Theo would grab control by the middle of Grand Finals, and never let it go.
Congratulations to Theo and to everyone who made Top 8 this weekend!
Also a special mention goes out to Slayer, who finished this event with a resurgent 3rd place after battling his Injustice demons. And to Flowchart as well, who dispatched some notable foes on his way to his first Injustice 2 major Top 8. And to these socks, for being inexplicable, and yet somehow, incredibly fitting
