inj2 is superior to mk9, of course.
but is it your favorite nrs game?

imo mk9 was more fun to watch and way more hype.
seeing badams, supes, aqumans in inj2 isnt so amazing or hype to me.
i just watched esl eu online and the players still counterpick with badam a lot lol.

i miss the drama as well, do you remember the 4 vs 4 (uk against usa) at evo 2012? haha that was hype as fuck (although all the usa team used kabal LMFAOO)
BTW cant find that event on yt, would rewatch, as well gga vs uk were dizzy ocv,d them. :O

oh mann, so much storys :D
I mean, Captain cold is winning majors right now. Bane and Green Arrow are placing.. I think we're actually in a pretty hype place as far as characters are comcerned :D

Mortal Kombat 9 will always be my favorite fighting game. I will never have as much fun as I did with a game. The community was also in its prime 2011-2012. Nothing will ever compare to it.

In terms of games made, Injustice 2 is probably NRS' most well-made fighting game. I'm having fun with it.

Injustice 2, hands down!ñ

It's very balanced
It's fun
Amazing roster
Good netcode
Gear system
Good mechanics (except for unblockable interactables, of course)

MK9 was amazing and fun but only of you played a top 10 character, lbsh.

Injustice 1 was fun but the mechanings were horrendous, the walkspeeds, interactables, plus on block 50/50 launchers and balance was still very bad (still liked it).

MKX was good balance wise but I'm not a fan of the run system and 50/50's

Injustice 2 for sure.

Functionality wise, from balance to brokeness, this game I believe is objectively the best. The game isn't perfect at all, but you can tell NRS has been learning a lot as each new game comes out. I also believe Injustice 2 is the most fun out of the 4.

Are there any choices besides

A: Injustice 2

B: an inferior game that I have nostalgia for
This is basically the only real answer. Objectively there's really no argument.

Probably favoritism here but mkx variation system was awful, injustice 2 is probably better overall then igau but I feel igau had way cooler looking combos

Plus Igau introduced me to fighting games as a while so there's that

not sure what u mean?
the question is not whats the better game - no doubt it is inj2, no argument here - but the question is WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GAME.
besides that, i am (like lot of others) more a mk guy rather then dc. and i also dont like things interactibles and stage transitions. also not the biggest fan of the clash system.
so how can that be the "real answer"?

It is better this way
If MKX had no run/stamina and there was no variations and they just focused on making solid and complete characters then I think it would be my favorite. But I2 is my favorite because you can play whatever type of character and use them, whereas MKX was heavily tilted towards offense.

I know opinions are all over the place....like I can understand how people like MKX better than MK9, or vice versa, or how people like MK9 over I2 and vice versa.

But I'm baffled at the occasional placement of Injustice 1 over Injustice 2?

I mean, I seriously can't even imagine that choice unless some horrific life event like your children died in a freak washing machine accident coinciding with the Injustice 2 release and it's made the game into a harbinger of bad memories so you play Injustice 1 just like you did when Billy was still here.

I will leave my seal on you!

Doesn't IJ2 leans heavily towards Zoning? Nor did IJ1? Nothing against Zoning, but the number of non-Zoning or non-defensive characters is very small in IJ2, and in MKX you could also Zone, even with all of the Rushdown in it. Even in MK9, according to @PND_Ketchup IIRC, was more offense focused as even the characters who could Zone couldn't win just by Zoning alone, which is pretty much the case for MKX as well.

The only characters with really powerful zoning are Doctor Fate and Deadshot. A lot of characters have zoning capabilities but Fate and Deadshot are the only ones who can legitimately zone the entirety of a match to win, and even that is matchup specific. In MKX, zoning wasn't really a thing. Even with Quan Chi and Predator, they couldn't win off zoning. Fate and Deadshot actually allow people who want to use zoning to win. Even though Deadshot also has 50/50s, he still has strong zoning.

A lot of characters have projectiles and shit but it doesn't really make them zoners. There's plenty of non zoners, like I said, having a projector doesn't make you a zoner.

Flash, Black Canary, Cheetah, Catwoman, Atrocitus, Bane are all good and have no zoning capabilities. Grodd would be included but he isn't that good imo.

I don't think it's that defensive characters are explicitly at an advantage, it's just shocking to us MKX players (myself included) to have defense not be at a disadvantage. We aren't used to offense not being at a huge advantage that being on even ground feels like a disadvantage to people who play like those characters. No advantage doesn't mean you're at a disadvantage, it just means no advantage.

I mean, sure? But the question posed is inherently subjective. The "best" game, in this circumstance, depends on your personal standards. If the roster of the game is important enough to me that it deeply affects how I feel about the game, that doesn't make it inferior or nostalgic. It just means that I find that particular game more appealing for those reasons. What "objectively" makes a good fighter wasn't really the question, so it's not the only "real" answer. :p

Edit: woops, @MAPUSA beat me to it lol. Sorry.

nice!
omg so much hype matches, watch some evo top 8 from 2011-2013

@Eddy Wang @xKhaoTik @Insuperable
guys how about we make an mk9 legacy thread with all the hype and best matches Compilation?
would be nice to educate all this newer tym members ;D
Thanks man. Yea alot of posters here seem confused as to what "the best nrs game" really means. Obviously the newer ones will be more balanced, have better online etc. but they forget about gameplay, funner, character types. It's all personal preference really so there's always going to be debating. Some will argue that inj2 is the best because of balance, I'll argue that to me mkx was the best because you could move without your character feeling like he has the Zelda ocarina of time iron boots on.

Lmao! Never heard that one on INJ2 movement, but I lost it because I actually know what you mean since Ocarina of time is one of my favorite games of all time.
