Ok...for the love of God. Please stop putting spoilers in the thread title. I had planned to catch a VOD today or something, but instead...bah.
What gets me is, you ALL have twitter, yes? So, you're going to see spoilers left and right on there. The Injustice twitter will congratulate them by their tag. Their sponsor will do the same. Help me understand this?

I'm more than fine with NOT putting spoilers in the thread title. The primary reason I do it is for the winner; I believe they deserve that recognition.

Storms please don't change a thing, what you're doing currently is what EVERY other top site covering their craft does

You have 2-3 people tops whining about this, plz don't change. I 10000% agree w you that the winner, whether they admit it or not, loves coming here and seeing that as an article.

These are the same type of people that love Movies, miss the oscars, Gogo movies.yahoo.com and sees results and are like "WTF MOVIES.YAHOO.COM WHY ARE YOU POSTING THE NEWS, I came here knowing I missed the oscars and how dare you cover your craft"

Just ignore them

I used to argue for not putting spoilers in the title but tbh it's such a minor thing. It isn't that hard to avoid the site when you want to catch up on a tournament. I've had to do it plenty of times. It's definitely not worth the 3 years this argument has gone on for lol.

It's all so very confusing.

Well, I don't have Twitter actually. I mean, I've made a Twitter account before but I have never really used it.. (when MKX was broken and unplayable for many PC users, myself amongst them I used it to spam NRS because I was salty.) and reasoning is.. things get spoiled. Also, have you seen me post? Twitter gives me a damn sentence, no way that platform works for me. I can't make fucking status updates that fit to save my life.

I also wholeheartedly agree that the winner deserves their name in the title, but since you guys can edit titles, like, a single day prohibition on title spoilers would be really nice. If I can't get my shit together on the day of the event and the day after then too bad, so sad, that's on me. But a one day grace period would be nice and the winner then gets the title and people like me have a chance to see the tourney without having it spoiled from the get go.

I can't control what you all do and there are obviously others ways to have the results spoiled, but at least in my case, I am media shy as hell the day following an event I missed, so as not to spoil it for myself if i intend to catch up on it that day. I can protect myself by not twitting or whatever and by avoiding streams, discord and everything, it just sucks to have to avoid EVERYTHING FGC related. To be fair, that's on me, I can just extend my media 'blackout' to everything until I catch up.. but shrug. Would just be nice if I didn't have to.

Then other issue though is some people may not have even realized SummerJam happened, or weren't sure the dates and times for everything, then unwittingly stumble on spoilers before they even have a chance too protect themselves.

Just my opinion. I'll start waiting a say after events before checking the forums from now on I guess. Just sucks cause this is my current favorite while-taking-a-shit activity. Cough. Speaking of which, I need to get back to business boys.

They also apparently don't learn from their mistakes.

It's your fault if you didn't know the tournament was happening, you should know when it is and be prepared to avoid the site accordingly.

Like don't go a sports bar right after a big game and bitch that the people next to you are talking about the final score.

I'm a big proponent of avoiding spoilers in general, but you only have yourself to blame for this. People will post statuses about it regardless if Storm puts it in the title.

Can I jokingly and in a light hearted way make fun of this post?

First paragraph you state "twitter only lets me type a sentence, I can't do this" and then you backed that statement up w a 7 paragraph novel

Captain Cold's design still hasn't changed so he is a bad character overall like he was after the last time Sonic used him and a cast of other characters to win a tournament. Props to Fox to be able to play all these characters at a high level to be able to use specialist characters that no one could ever main completely and bust them out at the right times in tournament.

Being able to use Cold in his advantage MUs (most rushdown characters that can't check him from full screen) and be able to switch to any other character when the set breaks down into character counter pick roulette is pretty incredible. I don't like a heavy counter-pick game myself, but I respect the hell out of what Fox is able to do.

The annoyance of being spoiled is totally avoidable, and temporary- -- but having a thread titled, "You won this tournament" is kind of prestigious and lasts forever.

I think it's kind of cool to be able to google your name/tag and get props thread with your name on it.

How about you don't come here again after a tournament until you've caught up? My example makes sense

This is the #1 site for all that is nrs fighting game news and guess what the news is? Sonic fox won SJ, Bio won VSF and HTH has their top8
I'm not bothered one way or another but Jynx's argument is pretty logical.

And in all fairness, for a lot of us, if we miss an event or top 8, this is precisely where I come to find where I can catch-up on stream archives.

And again for me, it's not that much of a disappointment because simply knowing the winner is just a fraction of what interests me overall, but i do think it's a no brainer to have the winner contained within the thread. But, I know this argument is very old and redundant at this point, so yeah.

Anyways, Pig I'm missing RHS and just your content overall. Hope stuff is good with ya, and I'm finally considering cancelling my twitch sub and picking up another channel, but don't let me do it by coming back with the fury. You're shits the best when you're on.

I just wanna point out, no, we all don't have a twitter, lol. I don't, tym is truly my primary and nearly sole connection to NRS games and the community outside of live stream chats. I know I'm in the minority likely by a wide margin, but I'm not alone surely.

And I also want to say that I have chosen to avoid TYM at times for this very reason and instead go to Eventhubs and give them clicks and views instead to find stream archives because I think it's easier to avoid spoilers. I forget sometimes and come here out of habit and when I'm spoiled it's not that big an issue for me, I still am interested.

But what is the logic for doing it though? To give props to the winner? I see that making sense in 2011, but nowadays there's a lot more attention and eyeballs elsewhere that I'd guess would give the winner more of a "fuck yeah!" but then again I don't win and am also not on twitter so....what do I know?

You don't need to go to any site for the archives other than Twitch or wait for the YouTube upload. There's no reason to check TYM or any other site for the archive, just go directly to the source. If you care that much about being spoiled that is.

These are results threads, thus the winner is in the thread title. You know after the tournament there's going to be a results thread with the winner in the title, so if you don't want to see spoilers why are you coming to TYM? That's what is illogical.

Lot of streams coming though

funny part is how rediculous it would be to go to gameofthronesmegafans.com and not expect that kind of stuff, but in the context of FGC everyone has to find something to complain about. The comparison sounds comical but its actually a pretty fair 1-1 comparison.

Are you saying I'm this person?
No silly willy quite the opposite. I am saying the fellow in the thread raving like a madman about how CC is the worst char in any fighting game, has all losing matchups save for 3 5-5s, and we are all mentally inept for failing to see this, is such a person.

Theres quite a few communities I have found to be quite positive and seek TYM/Discord as an outlet to share tech/mu knowledge such as Robin, Blue Beetle, Canary and Supergirl. Then you have captain cold...that community is the only thing that makes me want to never lab that poor guy lol (save for Irishmantis, he seems quite insightful and also hilarious lol).

That'd be fine to do if these events were streamed on one channel. They aren't though, they're scattered among what close to a dozen depending on what event. And, YouTube? So I should go give views to guys who steal content and upload it to YouTube? I'd like to give the views and clicks to the purveyors of the community, not some tool that ripped it and posted it as their own. Very few of the streamers actually consistently upload to YouTube in my experience.

No it's not illogical in the least. This is the hub for these games, if I'm trying to figure out where to watch an archive or a stream, this is precisely where someone would think to go.

Again, I don't really care that much, but you really have no argument that makes sense. Anyone interested in the results of an event is going to see the thread title and click it. Anyone who doesn't, or maybe is looking for some tech or something, can easily avoid it. No one has made even a semi compelling or substantial argument for spoiling events in titles other than "deal with it just don't come here, it's your fault you missed it, tough shit".

But whatever this is so tired and for some inane reason a lot of people have made this something that they've dug in on, and I don't care to argue it further. After all, this isn't my site to run and it isn't up to me, and I'm not losing sleep over it.

...but if someone wants to watch the archives why don't they just google it? I'm concerned for the people who can't take ten seconds to find out who streamed it and then go to their twitch page to save themselves the spoilers that they know are awaiting them here. These people need help, not a change in thread titles. We need to educate these poor souls who have never heard of google, twitch, the websites of the events themselves, and also forgot that all big top8s are now on the same channel and they archive everything for free. No offense people, but think for a whole second before inviting this problem.
