Red Hood General Tech Discussion

I'm trying add some far mine/lethal lunge conversions to my toolbox. I only have video examples from SonicFox.
He's got this tweet showing a d2 after a MB mine:
https://twitter.com/SonicFox5000/status/877401315898425344/video/1
He also converted a d1 after a regular mine (and an airborne opponent) at Summer Jam:

I am currently unable to do either of these with any consistency in the lab. Any tips for timing, or other examples with varying finishers?

I'll look into maximizing damage off it based off the distance.

That full screen one is neat but really kind of useless. Who would use 4 bars for 350 damage?

So what do you guys usually do for bombs set ups on oki. I find ending combos in 23 bomb is the best way to go because they cant backdash the set up, unlike ending in 112 bomb that can be backdashed

How do you usually end combos, F3, 323, 112 ?And what do you do after the mine is placed, hbt or plus frames, and what's your setup ?
From a scsrecrow to maining red hood I find so much potential with him

I have an optimal combos thread but the ender you go for is character and opponent dependent. Because of the different places it puts them after knockdown, the knockdowns have different properties.

There is no right ender and such. I’d just experiment with the Enders and the opponents wakeup and make a read.

After throwing a mine out you have to read your opponents wakeup habits. if they wake up, bait it out by just blocking. The reason that works is because of the other two options. If they delay their wakeup, do a normal with good recovery to catch the delay and attack them normally when they get up. If they just sit there and block, hit them witha htb.

The effectiveness of his setups vary from character to character but the overall concept remains the same.

In general what you want to do is (as of the february patch and until otherwise), end your combos into a cancellable knockdown. Ex: b23xmine, 32xmine etc etc. The gist of you what you want to due is also wakeup dependent and pattern dependent but it all boils down to will they wake up or not. If the former happens frequently, just wait and the mine will cause them to reconsider that option against most characters. If the latter happens, you get free pressure or a htb reset.

You can use 112xmine after a combo but the hard knockdown is so offensively awful that its almost never worth considering if the opponent is knowledgeable about it due to the string's low hit advantage and heavy gravity scaling. I heavily recommend you use 112xmine as a punisher if you want to go for the reset as the string is better raw than after a combo. The string has a couple of slight interesting applications which are only worth using if the opponent doesn't expect it but I won't bore you with the details in this post.

Honestly the way you want to go about his setups are having the AI do it to you and see what is feasible. Like I'd go in alot of detail but, I hate the ways these forms get to slow and I don't want to bore people with a long guide on how they work without sounding like an unintelligible idiot unless its video format and I'm somewhat technology illiterate. If you have any specific questions on why a certain setup works and if it can be applied, I'll be here to answer.

Apologies for not including this in the initial message as it simply slipped my mind for some strange reason, ending some combos into BGB kick allow you to put a mine as they’re about to fall because a BGB grants a hard knockdown.

Just be wary as it’s mid screen and it’s best to capitalize on escapes such as backdashes and such.
