Street Fighter V General Discussion

Well.. I'ma be honest. I feel like both of them sre better games and that I stand s much better chance of being "good" at Injustice than I do SFV and DEFINITELY Tekken.. however, my main training partner and buddy doesn't have any real interest in Tekken and I thiugh I really like the game, I haven't made any regular connections for matches to really hold my interest (I despise and almost never do anything kind of random matchmsking)..

As to Injustice, I fully intend to keep playing it, but Im kinda putting it on hold until we see what the first balance patch will look like. It's a weird thing and I get like this in any game when a potentially game altering patch is approaching. I like characters at the top snf the bottom and one or two in the middle, but, as you know, I can't settle on a main without a painfully ling and drawn out process, so add in a patch on the horizon and I just kinda shrug and mentally say fuck it, I cant enjoy anyone because I dunno what will and won't change in the near future. It's stupid, but it's how I'm wired.

Tekken , to revisit it slightly, is a brilliant brilliant game, but the investment to become even decent at it is so astoundingly high I just don't know if I have the time snf patience to manage it. I do need to find a semi regular training partner though and get more real games in before I make a definite 100% decision.

As of right now, I don't really play any FG. In trying to get back into SF but haven't yet really and all I do in Tekken and Injustice is practice BnBs and some basic tech in Injustice (I want Sub to work so badly..)
Dude we understand completely. I think injustice can become boring, I mean even to watch it I'm not really interested. But I have been playing it a bit. So it's honestly meh for me. Tekken now I've always thought, since so many say it takes years to become good etc., that it's like chess, life's too short to learn tekken lol. SFV I feel is like total and real control of your character, you control your projectiles not the other way around. Don't wanna start an argument but it seems it's the only game with real footsies somehow/.

lol sf5
st , zero3 , cvs2, 3s and even sf4 were better sf games as sf5
SF4 was garbage from the beginning until Ultra. Ultra was the only one that wasn't a total joke, but it still sucked cuz of SF4 no-commitment meta. It was a game based around playing it safe all day. Shit was wack.

A3 was garbage, lol infinite combo fighter 3 - A2 was way better... and that game was even more imbalanced.

CvS2 is the greatest game of all time - no need to compare anything to the best, you'll just let yourself down.

3S and SF5 are equals in my eyes. Excellent, fun, messy games --- except SF5 is actually well-balanced. Funny thing, remember how everyone thought 3S was garbage for over 3 years before it became hype to watch?... Remember how half of the community shitted on it and called it garbage or "parry fighter" cuz it didn't play like Turbo or Alpha? Only when people stop playing these games they miss em.... wack.

ST is a classic game. I've got nothing to say here.

My top 5 Capcom fighters of all time

1) CvS2
2) ST
3) MvC2 and Vampire Savior (tie)
5) 3S and SF5 (tie)

I stand by that list. Ya'll will start agreeing when history proves me right.

First, the idea that sfiv was "safer" than sfV makes me automatically discount anything you say, because you genuinely have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Vtrigger? Really? Not gonna argue it though, just the statement shows you don't even understand what you're looking at.

Second, no.. history will not prove you right and even if it did I wouldn't agree with you because, ya know, you're wrong.

I think I'm going to play Akumer if I come back. I just don't feel excited or interested in coming back to play a character in a game I left snf quit playing 'cause I didn't like it. Shrug. If he doesn't work I'm go back to Karin.

TBH he's not wrong. I mean sf4 had safe uppercuts for 3/4 of its life. He's wrong about it being whack though.

Its not that sfiv didnt have safe shit, or the ability to make shit safe. It's saying that V has improved this trend in some way. I mean, it has the CC system for DP's and that's nice and all.. but we dont have to piss away two bars to make things safe now, vtrigger handles all that for us, on top of something like 80% of the cast (or more) having totally safe oki options off almost any knockdown, at any position.. plus frame data on normals that gives multiple characters blockstrings that end in safe spacing on top of frame advantage, yadda yadda yadda.

I think the issue here is that people, for some weird reason, think that the ability to make a DP safe somehow defined the entire game.. and since you cant really make DP's safe in V.. somehow V is a step up the scrub ladder from IV, since its widely thought that DP mashing is scrubby - and it is, unless your Tokido or Daigo or some other player whos name we all know, then its brilliant and genius and all that. I'm fine with this duality mind you, I even think its mostly true. Just commenting on it.. But the ability to make a DP safe doesnt cancel out the pretty bonkers level retard, vortex-y snakeshittery that V has going for it.

Again, I'm not saying SFIV was [perfect and Im not saying it didnt have some stupid shit going for it.. but the idea that V is a better game because its more unsafe and things can be punished.. is sorta ridiculous.

There is a ton I dont like about SFV and Ive spent the better part of a year whining about it here, Ive come to accept the game though, for what it is. Capcom have a vision, it is absolutely not my vision, but its what we have. Instead of complaining about how V doesnt reward the things I want it to reward and punish what I want it to punish, I just accept it as a fighting game that went a direction I didnt expect it to. If I decide to play it, I'll just have to get on board with what it is and isnt. Ive been more or less like a guy playing Tekken and bitching every game that the 3d movement fucked him. Maybe it did, but why am I playing a 3d game like a 2d game? Either accept the game or move the fuck on.

That said, if I do come back, I will mash my CC buttons, jab on wakeup, never block - ever (I dont anyway, lets be real) and, in general, do all the things.

That's the thing though, what if you jab on wakeup but your opponent presses his CC buttons? See where the mind games come in? If you plan to use your CC buttons but your opponent jabs then you'll beat him, but you'll get beaten yourself if you do what you say you'll do too right?

You misunderstand. Never dont do stuff in this game. If I dont jab I eat white life into + frames into another 50/50 strike/throw mixup. There are no mindgames here. Only jabs. and the doing of things.

Always.

Forever.

Never not not always.

I don't know man, there's only so much + frames available after an attack, theres always your turn here. Not to mention reversals. I mean I haven't seen a game where only one guy gets his turn. I'm not sure if I still don't get what you're saying so if I dont I apologize.
Ps- how about that mayweather vs mcgregor fight? Circus or what?

u guise know that the legend himself, john choi master of fireballs, recently said theres no fireball gsme in sfv.

i guess i must be just so gdlk then
Yea I think what he meant is that you can't just spam any type of projectile in sfv. You have to know how to zone actually and even then it's risky. I love Akumas red fireballs but man have I taken punishes for using them at the wrong time/distance etc. Or just that every character has ways around them. Might be totally wrong though lol

either way its the reverse opposite of zoning in inj. Zoning isnt even close to being skillful in inj but yet so effective in that game that makes it braindead. id take hyper rushdown with minimal zoning vs anyones dog can "zone" the game lul

at least you know youre so gdlk when you zone in sfv. but thinking you have amazing defense because you play inj 2 is like thinking youre some mixup god in sfv lul

Dog, I'm sorry that I hurt you like this.

But listen, I played SF4 throughout it's lifespan. Logged thousands of hours. Don't tell me I don't understand the game just because we disagree on the game itself.

In my experience - it was defined by which players managed to OS all of their shit to safety. Defined by invincible backdashes, defined by OS tick throws, defined by FADC cancels. The best characters in the game were the ones that exploited this aspect of the game the best. The game was convoluted for the sake of non-commitment. It's the only Street Fighter that made playing read-heavy or risk-heavy feel futile - not my cup of tea.

I stand by this statement - SF4 is the LEAST Street Fighter game I've ever played.

All good, I don't expect people to drop everything to play me. I usually just invite and wait like 5 or so minutes. I ended up trying to continue my struggle of passing platinum lol.
