New here and looking for some advice

Hey guys, I'm new here on this forum and hoping to learn a lot. I've played MKX from time to time but not a lot. Now I'm playing Injustice 2 and I am really enjoying it.

I do need some advice for what character to pick up and practice with. I have tried a couple of characters already but I switch a lot. Started with Black Canary, then tried Captain Cold and the last few weeks I played a lot with Firestorm and really liked him. I can do alright with him but now I want to pick another character to pick up but I can't decide. I really liked Cheetah but I can't land a combo consistently while I practiced it for days already.
Also the fact that I keep getting zoned out is frustrating me so she might not be a great choice.

I was hoping you guys could give me some advice in order to pick a character that fits me. I don't like to be the guy that is just zoning and shooting the entire match but kind of a mixed playstyle suits me well I think. Not sure.

Thanks in advance.

There are numerous characters that fit the mixed playstyle. I'd recommend Green Lantern. He has excellent range, his combos aren't very difficult, he has great mids and great crossups.

Are you able to play Red Hood?
I played him only a tiny bit when he first came out in practice mode. Haven't really tried him after that honestly. He seems good when I play against him online but when I tried him a had trouble pulling off his trait combo's. But I never spent a lot of time practicing him so might do that. Thanks!

Yeah I was thinking of him as I always have a hard time against Green Lantern. Might try him to see what he can do. Thanks.

I'd start with Batman, seems to be what you want and has both a high skill floor and ceiling. Once you become comfortable with him and your execution improves within I2, you can start learning someone else.

Welcome to Injustice 2 and Test Your Might!

If you're having trouble with zoning, you could pick Supergirl or Green Arrow as amazing counter zoners who are really easy to play as.

Also what is giving you the most execution problems with Cheetah may I ask?

Really easy to be decent, but requires work to be really good.
Okay, thanks a lot! I think I will try him.

Well, for example in one of her basic combo's (f3 d2 trait 112 db2) I can't connect the moves after I active the trait. It seems impossible to land the 112. I have tried to put the inputs in really early and really late and still does not work. Also in the f3 j3 112 dbf1 I only manage to land the last grab move like 2/10 times. Also the fact that it's so hard to get in on my opponent sometimes makes it hard to actually land it. I can be very patient with her though but if I struggle to pull of her basic meterless combo's already I'm gonna have a hard time I think.

Be sure you have release check off and I would suggest changing trait to something like R1 or L1, maybe even L2. It makes certain characters ten times easier to use (Green Arrow, Brainiac, Batman, Atrocitus, Green Lantern, Red Hood, and Captain Cold come to mind).

So first I wanted to thank you guys for your quick reactions and help. It really helped me to get started. I started learning Batman and it went well. I can play him on a decent enough level to win a couple of matches on ranked. It really helped to improve my execution and my skills in battle. Though I want to try something else now. I will keep playing Batman but I want like a secondary character to learn to have a bit of variation. I know, I might get bored too soon.

The problem is I don't really know what character is best suited for me. I have already tried Red Hood, but I feel like it is hard to really get in and then I am relying too much on his mines. And if I'm doing that, I know I will be too predictable all the time.
Also tried Green Lantern for a while. I don't really know what to think of him actually. I might test him a bit more.
Like I said in one of my earlier posts, I don't want to be the guy that is just shooting things the entire match. But at the same time I don't want to get completely outzoned.

Do you guys have any recommendations or tips for who I should try? I'm sorry if I'm asking for a lot here, since it's hard to understand what I'm really looking for.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

Green Lantern is really balanced and simple. Honestly a lot of characters in this game are, but Batman is currently one of the best characters in the game at the moment. He can play almost any form of game thanks to how adaptable he is. I don't know how you play Batman so I can't really recommend any other characters you could have an interest in.

So I think an often underlooked question is the obvious : Which character(s) are you drawn to naturally from an aesthetic perspective?

I know I personally have trouble playing a character despite them having a lot of strong mechanics if I can't stand the character.

Yeah and that is kind of how I play. I try to get close with Batman and do the combo's I practiced. If I get zoned out, I'll be patient and use the bats to get in. It really depends on how my opponent is playing and I try to adapt to that.

Yes, you're right. There aren't a lot of characters that I don't like at all though. But Scarecrow, Bane, Cheetah, Firestorm, Red Hood and Black Canary look cool in my opinion. Then there are characters like Black Adam, Green Lantern, Robin, Blue Beetle (just to name a few) that I made look cool with the customisation. I don't really feel Superman, Wonder Woman, Super Girl, Joker for some reason.
