Top 3 without a doubt
Literally the only reason i dont have him top 3 is because the other characters i would put above him have both really good metered and meterless dmg. A man cant launch without meter anymore. (Doesnt hurt him much at all he doesnt need it obviously) but im also so used to inj1 A man where from the deep launched meterlessly lol. That aside, he still has the best trait in the game and we got compinsated with more dmg since we cant launch meterlessley anymore, And the fact that having meter shouldnt be a problem cuz of trident rush. but he is still slightly more meter dependant.

To those saying Aquaman is top 5 I agree. I think he's one of the most useful pocket characters given his toolset, simplicity, and overall ability to play defensively (huge benefit for MUs you don't know 100%).

However, as an overall character I don't think you can really say he is better than Bats, Bladam, or Atrocitus. Their bs offense is so much more overwhelming. Aquaman doesn't have the ability to rush you down and make your head hurt like they do, but he is still excellent and punishing and commanding the life lead.

I'd put him at 4 or 5.
 
For me, Black Adam amd Supergirl gave me the most problems. Supergirls laser and her laser from her in the air gave me problems. Plus her Meter Teleport is cancer.
exactly this lol...played against a supergirl and a catwoman...and i just couldn't punish them...i'm not sure if their normals are just faster than aquaman or what but it wasn't pretty.

Have you had any luck figuring out the matchup?
 
waht do you guys think as far as the catwoman or supergirl matchup against aquaman. They were just getting me with their normals non stop as if i didn't have an opening to counter. Most likely it was me not knowing the matchup but are you suppose to keep those two characters at a distance and not let them get in.

Imma start with Supergirl. Her normals outside of 112 with that one string being plus but the second 1 and 2 has a gap (I think that's the string) are usually not safe and she needs mb ice breath to be safe. Zoning u need to bait out air lasers because that's punishable with ftd tho the window is small. Aquaman can pressure her on knockdown for free since her wakeups are hella shit with ez walk back and if she tries teleporting hear the sound cue of an airplane and move forward for ez punish. Aquaman has better normals than Supergirl and d1 us another key. If Aquaman gets knockdown by Supergirl use mb watershield as a bail out.

With Catwoman from what I've found, Zone the fuck out of her and know when she is gonna jump because most of the time Catwoman is not punishing ftd with cat dash. Also her long ass hurtbox from her ji3 makes it annoying af but that's where mb b3 comes in to counter that shit. Her wakeup can be easily baited so put pressure on her early. Also pushblock since her buttons up close are fairly good and learn to block her mixups. U should play the usual defensive neutral/zoning gameplan with Aquaman for this one

Thanks for the info. Yeah that's what i have noticed running into catwoman now and also took supergirl to training mode and looked at her frame data. Once i actually broke it down i saw all those weaknesses you mentioned. My thing is i try to go HAM with aquaman when in fact i just have to take my time lol...slowly and steady improving...

you're not zoning good catwomans... trust me.

What makes Aqua top 5 but not top 3 for me is his trait. Many characters launch too quickly to react with it, the duration is much shorter, stun moves (mb freeze breath, mb kiss) still leave the opponent hella plus, and the full damage taken from moves blocked hurts a lot. Traits like Adam, Bats, Atroc, and CW have no downside to speak of.
 
Thoughts on Aquaman vs Darseid? Had a few issues with his omega beams. Keen for some tips on strategy for this match-up, seems to be my cancer atm.

Aquaman has slight advantage against Darkseid. Aquaman can definitely win the zoning war against Darkseid but u need to be smart about the range u decide to ftd. Darkseid can summon red parademons which punishes ftd everytime. If he does mb air lasers u can mb roll and punish for a good punish. Upclose Aquaman has all the advantage. Know the gimmicks that Darkseid has with trait. If he does green parademon coupled with teleport rmr to block the side that Darkseid is coming to u at. Darkseid can't be liberal about teleporting around as Aquaman has options. Upclose Aquaman got the edge tho and if Darkseid opens u up that's a good 40 percent of ur health bar gone. Get the life lead early and watch out for the teleport stomp/jump kicks. Aquaman can be slightly more reckless than Darkseid but Darkseid has a solid wakeup which Aquaman doesn't since Darkseid can do corner teleport crossup shenanigans. Could be slightly in Aquaman's favor but it's mainly 5-5 since Darkseid also has the ability to hit back just as hard

This is a potential losing matchup for Aquaman but anyways. This matchup u want to make sure u punish her air shield tosses (though it depends on the height she does it at so knowing the height she is at when she does it helps) Do not throw out ftd unless u want like 20%+ of ur health gone (pending on amount of meter she has) unless u r fullscreen or punishing her shield tosses. You're forced to walk back against Wonder Woman a lot while not being able to check her. If she jumps at u with j3 be ready to mb b3 it (though she can do Instant Air Shield Toss to counter this since she moves back during the animation) but if she does it at a low height use it as a free turn to move in to keep yourself from walking back to the corner. On wakeup u can walk back and force her to do mb shield bash. If she whiffs on regular shield bash do not try and press buttons since u will lose more often than not unless u r anticipating her to whiff then d1 check on reaction. Some WoWo players will try to pressure u with 223 (hella plus on block) make sure u backdash/armor the gap between the second 2 and 3. Especially if u are cornered which is the most likely time WoWo players will pressure u. It is very uphill as a matchup but is winnable

alright thx, i found you can dash between her d12 as well. and u mean when she wakes up i can walk back and force her to do bash? does bash have full invincibility?

Bash has no invincibility iirc. Only upwards bash has invincibility however bash is very fast much like black adam's palpatine hands that it can catch u off guard if u are not ready

alright, ill have to practice blowing it up i guess. ill see about the other stuff too, whats a character that handles her better tho, just wondering.

Legit one of the few reasons we used to have a winning mu to him was because we could duck and punish omega lazers in the neutral with a launching ftd from mid screen ranges. The fact ftd no longer launches leaves alot of dmg on the table in this mu.
