Anyone manage to get any damage off non mb mines? Something I've been messing with is deep j3 cancelled into the air shots right over mines. I tried converting off d1 into a legit combo but it doesn't seem to work.

I didn't get too much time with him, but here's some stuff.

His back roll is really good. I have been using it like HSmoke's teleport in UMK3, or Scorpions teleport back cancel in MKX. It's very good for resetting neutral and getting out of any pressure. Haven't really messed with the forward roll, like I said I didn't get much time with him.

Corner setup I was doing in the corner was the low semi launcher (can't remember the inputs) into the close mine. Then on wake up, f3. It's very hard to block as the mine is low, f3 is overhead. If done right the opponent will launch, then you get a ji1, into the same thing. It's basically a loop. Several things beat it, including some wakeups and delayed wakeup. But didn't have time to think of ways around the counters.

Gonna have to agree with @Tweedy 's sentiment...I almost feel like this character was made for me lol. His playstyle and design are right up my alley, more than I had hoped for actually. 100% new main.

My first impressions seem to be like most, in that he seems pretty good, but nothing overbearing.

I kind of hate his trait tab in the move list, though. It's incredibly annoying to look through the same strings over and over just to find something specific lol. I'm not seeing the point of so many listings, if there is one. Also, @REO has a few videos of him playing Red Hood already up on his youtube page, just in case somebody didn't know.

If you get caught in the corner a mb roll followed by a back dive gives you loads of space and center screen to zone and be free to move about again
 
Red hood parry is so horrible compared to the others. It has 8 frame startup and it can't interrupt strings at all that others can interrupt.

I hope they reduce the startup frame because it is useless at the moment

Any reason why it is 8 frames instead of 4 ? @colt

I think the parry is meant for knockdown purposes.

Like you can condition them to not wakeup with it, if it means something.

The moment they won't, that's when you go for knockdown shenanigans.

yeah but it has 24 frames of recovery. If it had 10 like Joker, that would make more sense. Red Hood's parry is just plain bad imo.

So, his parry can't be used as a wake up like Joker's hand buzzer counter?
Joker's isn't a real wake up either. Since it's 4 frames you can catch people not timing their meaties correctly. With Red Hood it's double the start up, so not really worth trying imo.

It's still a complete guess imo. The risk-reward is trash. Since in Inj2 lot of string can be interrupted Red Hood should have the option to do it too.

I hate the fact that Batman and Joker can but not Red Hood.

Yeah, read what I said above.

That being said, it's a complete guess for any knockdown for any character jfbthe opponent wakesup or not.

I'm gonna work on trying to find a set up that will lead me into mine b3. The mine isn't ex'd found in the lab you get an extra 50.00 damage it's like 173.0 vs 120.0 ex into b3. Tested on superman.

What's the recovery on quick shot? The frame data for it is weird as hell in the game menu

I'm not really sure how big of an impact what I'm about to say has, but I doubt it'll be huge.

I noticed a few things about his trait strings when labbing against Superman. Red Hood's -1 on block 4332MB isn't 100% safe, though I've only been able to punish it with Superman's super. Superman can't punish with f2 after backdashing the gaps in 4332MB or 4332Throw, but he can punish with his super either after a backdash in 4332MB or through either gap. This means that Superman's super can punish any option Red Hood has in his trait.

I only really tested the gaps with Superman's f2 and super, nothing else, so I don't really know if anybody else in the roster has the ability punish with or without meter. Just wanted to say that the option is there.

The main point was that there isn't a safe option once you trait under that circumstance. I wasn't trying to say it was overly bad for him, sorry if it came off that way. Just wanted to point out the possibility abusing the gaps.

I guess it seems obvious. It just immediately made me think of starting to explore of options selects. I just didn't want to say that because I haven't tested it in any way.

i kinda feel the best of red hood got taken out to be the gear abilities , the parry is crap and im sure more people would prefer his gun throw gear ability hell even his hidden bomb ability would have been better suited in his default ...i loved what i saw in the trailer , but with no real wake up option (which you think they would have learned after the backlash from the scarecrow players) and having to spend meter to do ANYTHING he's a bit of a disappointment

How's everyone playing the neutral? This character's footsies suck because of his walk speed and everyone keeps mashing d1 on you. :/
