How did you chose your main?

I mained Rain in MK9 since his launch and fell in love with the character. I felt like a strong opponent with him and just enjoyed playing him and practicing with him as much as I could. Rain had RH Cancels.

Flash has RM Cancels. Picked Flash lmao.

Winning feels better when you take a little damage
- I've wanted to play supergirl ever since the game was revealed.
- I just randomly picked captain cold in some casuals and actually really liked his moveset
- Harley Quinn has the string 2, f3, 1+3.

Well I ended up falling back on one of my IJ1 characters, sadly no Lobo or Zod, so I went for Black Adam my first IJ1 character.

I guess you can say he's my main, but I'm learning a few new characters like Black Canary, I'll possibly eventually switch to her or someone else, but for the time being Black Adam is just convenient for me.

To be fair though, Black Adam is in fact my favorite DC character.

Curious how people chose mains in a game like this. Is it your favorite DC character? Or was it your main for the first game? Or did you chose by their play style?

I main Harley in the first game so main her here too. Picked her up in injustice 1 cuz she's always been my favorite dc character
Good question.

I go off pure swag...that's why I main Dr. Fate!!!

I like to play bad characters
Grant it they are usually not the best types of characters I tend to always end up with ones that are rather straight forward, usually have a mobility move of some kind, and ones that don't need their trait much or at all. I don't like having to depend on getting trait set up. So I have ended up playing Wonder Woman the most, who I played a fair amount of in the first game. I also rather like Swamp Thing and still play Bane here and there just because I played him since day one in the first game. My choices surprise me because they are not who I planned on playing at all but make sense given how I usually play.

Favourite DC character. Knew I was maining Deadshot the moment I learned about his inclusion, and I will continue to main him all the way through the inevitable nerfs. I'll still play him even if they gut him down to ass-tier, I just love the character that much.

Soul Stealing Loyalist
Tried them all and the picked the one I found the least less enjoyable compared to my boy Shinnok

I Love The Joker. I played him in part 1, but I had already told myself that if they Made Darkseid for part 2 I was going to switch mains. Ever since I saw him in that stage transition. I labbed Joker for 5 mins when I first out the disk in, then labbed Darkseid. I haven't stopped playing with Darkseid since. Love the character.

Intelligence + Speed + Power
I picked based on two things:

- I wanted to play one of the new characters instead of a legacy character
- I wanted someone who has a little bit of everything

I played Atrocitus at first and loved the creative pressure I could force with Dex. But he's very simple fundamentally (similar to Supes in that he relies heavily on 1 string). I tried to Blue Beetle in the lab one day and fell madly in love.

Honestly it's really hard finding a main in this game, most of them are hella fun to play and gearing them up is just as fun. My favorite DC characters have always been Batman, Bane, Harley and Supergirl so that's who I primarily play. I also want to learn Catwoman, she's a sweet rushdown character. I can't wait for Redhood and Subzero and depending on their playstyle I will most likely pick them up as well.

Too bad YOU... will DIE!
In IJ1 I played Raven, Zatanna, and Catwoman.

I was expecting to play Catwoman again with the other two gone, but I've been a fan of Cheetah since way back in the day. Anyone else play that awful DC fighter Justice League Task Force on SNES? lol

Then we saw her in action and she played somewhat like my MKX main, Tanya, so I was sold.

I picked up Poison Ivy as a secondary because I'm trying to learn to zone better, and Poison Ivy is awesome. Play Canary, Catwoman, and Harley for fun. I prefer female characters, obviously.

I main Doctor Fate because I love Egyptian Mythology, plus he's a zoner, my favorite playstyle. I plan to learn Green Arrow and Green Lantern because they're hybrid characters, and maybe Deadshot and Aquaman.
I main him as well...I just learned that Dr. Fate can kill himself with his 2113 string... https://mobile.twitter.com/CageRedfield/status/868049813815803904

Why?

Maybe Netherrealm convinced themselves that because he has the ability to heal himself that he should be able to kill himself with a combo string...Very Disappointing :(

Usually play female characters and Supergirl was just a fun moveset for me to play with. Still debating Captain Cold vs. Harley Quinn as my secondary (Harley was my main in INJ1 with Sinestro)

Wtf... THAT'S WHY I'VE BEEN MISSING FUCKING HEALTH AFTER GETTING FLAWLESS GAMES! They need to fix that ASAP.
Someone should create a PSA about this if there isn't one already.

I mained Harley in Injustice 1 but wanted main somthing new. As I enjoy setup and/or rushdown chars I picked Cheetah

It's all so very confusing.
I take each character to the lab for 10m, maybe 15, just do some basic strings, literally mash some, check out specials. I don't look at frame data or anything yet, I just hop around and hit buttons. Then make a mental list of characters who I liked when I did this. Liked the flow or feel of , and I auto add characters that look particularly cool or that I really like thematically. Once I've gone through everyone this way and made the list of characters who catch my eye, I start going through those characters, spending more time in the lab, exploring strings and specials and getting a better overview of that character's tools and how they 'flow'. I try to do a couple poverty, 20m of fiddle time combos , etc. I usually eliminate a lot of the list doing this. Once the second list is paired down, usually to 3-6 characters, I start looking at frame data and what the strings actually do, and start to try and formulate a general idea of what that character's gameplan is, and how good they might be at it/in general. I start checking the forums and youtube at this point as well for tech and general information.. the goal being to trim that 3-6 list down as far as possible. Whoever is left I usually main. Sometimes this leaves me with 2-3 characters. I also consult GENERAL tier list information.. im not exactly a tier whore, but if a character I like is universally considered bad (not just ok , but actively bad) I will usually drop them from the list. Yes, that general consensus could be and sometimes is, quite wrong - but it's also quite often pretty correct. I know how I am mentally and everything, so to me, playing a "good" character is important because it doesn't leave me an excuse or a cop-out. Every L I take , I have to hold with no way to lay the loss on my character just not being great or whatever.

That said, in Inj2 I'm maining Atrocitus right now, because.. deezam. I just don't think he has any real serious weaknesses. He has good answers vs zoning, some of which are extremely potent. Good damage. His trait is super super useful for a ton of different reasons and in s ton of different circumstances. Advancing mids. Huge corner carry. He's got pressure for DAYS and meterless conversions with trait out. Trait also acts as a defensive measure to some degree. He looks pretty cool... He's also like.. Me. Big, broad shoulders dude. I have a terrible temper, I break keyboards and controllers and scream and cuss and ya know, RAGE. I'm also a fan of cats and have four and work with dogs and cats for a living and am involved with local cat charities and all that.. so a big thick super pissed off guy with a cat companion is practically me.

So, as secondary and tertiary characters.. I have GA and Batman. Both of whom I liked from Inj1 a TON. I didn't play i1 in it's heyday but came to the game 6ish months back just to get an idea what i2 may feel like.. and I really liked GA and Bats. GA seems better this time around and Bats may or may not be one of the strongest characters in the game right now.. but for some reason I just didn't want to main a legacy character. Bats is so heavily played I just kinda wanted to do something a little different.. though I'll likely spend time learning Batman off and on. GA is AWESOME but after a couple matches as him I literally feel mentally tired lol. He's so active and dynamic it's great, but he works SO HARD for those wins. Again, just wanted something a little different in my main.

Honorable mentions and characters I will likely visit at some point:

Deadshot. He was a potential main before launch. A character I really liked the look of. He's obviously strong.. we have all seen the threads and experienced it for ourselves I'm sure.. but pewpew zoning, to me, isn't all that fun and so I haven't messed with him much. The almost universal hatred towards the character doesn't bother me, but I honestly feel like learning the game with him wouldn't make me a good Inj player. He would be a crutch. So, shelved.

Canary. Super dope. So swaggy. So smooth and fluid. Just too unsafe for my tastes. So, shelved.

Cheetah. Close eye on her. She's nutso. Shelved mostly because I just don't feel like diving in to her whole heatedly right now. I feel like she's a character that requires that to be successful.

Robin. Dunno. He's awesome, but he's just missing something for me. I feel like he's not all that good. I may be TOTALLY wrong and it's super possible I am.. but I'm not personally confident in the character right now, so, shelved.
