Whenever I knew my opponent was going to do a brutality on me in tournament, I never restart match I always let the brutality happen. Crowds usually get hype from brutalities and you always want the crowd to be hype, I'd never let my salt get in the way of keeping the crowd hype.

You stopped watching events that are 95% gameplay because of missing a few seconds of intro/win screen?
No, its the jarring experience of watching when the player resets, its just an annoying feeling that makes it not fun to watch

Its not the reset or the time, its the feeling when watching it. It doesnt allow the viewers to process what just happen

TYM's #1 L taker.
I think they should only allow it for the first match if that because it can give the players a moment to get their head in the game (assuming they need it).

Otherwise if people want to see the intros there's always YouTube. Watching the outro before hitting rematch doesn't really do anyone any favors if they can get right back into the fight.

I personally think it's a case of "I don't do that, so I don't like that." Mentally that makes "jarring."

Thats not true at all, i do that all the time when i practice or play against other players. But when its a hype match, it just cut down the hype and its just feels too rush when its not really needed

Taking two minutes to do button checks, but quick reset to "save time".
When the announcers have to question on stream if "this is the match, or a button check"...
The difference is that button checks are a precaution players take so they don't lose a match because they didn't have the right setup. Watching intro's and outro's don't help players in any way.

I agree with letting the first intro rock since it does not afftect the players in any way. However, after that I would rather they play out the rest of the set without intros. There's nothing more annoying than repeat intros.

Outros are meh though.

4-press button checks are a precaution. Anything more is autism.

I completely agree. The intros set up the set, and makes the game feel complete, I never skip intros at the beggining of a set. I think it also gives players a quick breather before the next match.

I could go either way on the intros, but I agree completely on mashing reset. I like to see the hit that ends the match. It's especially unsatisfying when someone quits mid-combo because they're convinced the other player won't drop it. I mean, they won't, but it's still good to see the match to it's full conclusion.

This is a really weird peeve to me, I watch for the matches, not the cutscenes. Is this really such a thing that people will stop watching a tournament over? Even when I'm sitting at home I feel like it drags on and kills momentum to let them play after the first one.
Just boring. If two characters I don't like/play just go through the continuous gameplay phase, I get bored as hell, which is why I never watch Qualifiers.

I will leave my seal on you!
I personally would like to see the intros more, but I do agree that you should keep them just for the first match. Intros in NRS games are unique and show the personality that NRS games have over every other fighting game, so we should see them in tournaments, yet of course you need to let the players to keep their focus in the match. So having the intros in their entirety just for the first match is basically a good compromise between the spectators and the players.

I do have to say that I've found the restart match very annoying on stream. Totally understand why they do it, but it's definitely unsatisfying from a viewer perspective.

don't skip intros, don't skip match ends to restart, stop taking so many breaks between sets, all of these go a long way towards making things feel more seamless and keep viewers watching imo.

I'm just not a fan of forcing players to wait if they don't have to mid tournament match. They wouldn't hit rematch at all if it wasn't in their best interests.
it gives viewers time to process what just happened, it gives commentators an actual chance to say something about what just happened. As it is now half the time they start to talk about the previous round and cut themselves off when they realize the next round is already starting. It makes for a jarring viewer experience. It's far worse than skipping or not skipping intros though.

Yeah but it's about the players. They can always talk about the matches during instant replays.

It may have been about the players in the past, but spectating and viewership are such a huge thing now, especially in the drive to get more players that it would be a mistake not to cater towards them some.
