Hey everyone! Trying something new here, with a thread to summarize and discuss things people saw and or are thinking about from the last week. So let's go! What are your reactions to this week, thoughts, questions, concerns, favorite moments, etc? Your pick for Match of the Week?
Events to consider: NLBC, WNF, Red Hot Sundays, Toryuken and War of the Gods
MY SUMMARY
-Deadshot hasn't been figured out yet (contrary to some claims I've seen). His ability to mix with the best of them in close quarters has given him extended life in good players' hands. Doesn't mean that he's too strong, but getting through the zoning (which was supposed to be the main factor here) is clearly only half the battle. Anyone looking to beat him reliably is going to have to deal with the entire MU, rather than just the gunshots.
-Early in Injustice 2 Black Adam is currently that Kitchen Sink character you pick when your main isn't getting it done. Shades of MK9 Kung Lao and IGAU Batman (and later MMH).
-Sonic is still sonic. Not that we would have expected anything else -- but whether he's using new characters or old, the Yung Wonder is picking up the same way he left off in MKX.
-Legacy is strong early in INJ2. As to be expected, we're seeing a lot of old meta and old strategies winning early (vintage Superman, Aquaman, Batman, Harley and even BA to some extent -- albiet with his new gift of Footsies of the Gods(tm) from Based Paulo). It'll be interesting to see at what point the Tech Monster curve starts to bring the new characters onto par with the old in tournament. Which will be exciting to watch in the weeks to come.
-Atrocitus is looking very strong. The main factor that stands out to me, is that he's able to play his game almost regardless of what you're doing, and that consistency makes him a viable threat in a number of different situations. There's still a lot of room to lab this MU, but he also has a lot of room to mix up his approach by cancelling, armoring, and puddle'ing in different spots. Also, people are finding new ways to use the trait with every few days that go by.
-Swamp Thing and Black Canary are both incredibly exciting to watch, and have a lot of different tools to mix into their offense. Excited to watch their meta develop. I still don't know what the heck is going on with Gorrilla Grodd.
-It's nice to see the community turning out for online event viewership. It'll be key to see how these events fare as the months go on and that "new game glow" starts to fade a bit. 4k for Red Hot Sundays is really strong, and it'll require some ingenuity to try to retain that audience as time goes on.
