The World Has No More Room For Monsters: Swamp Thing General Discussion

Also you can even do a fake bayou bash by dashing forward. It's a risk but it still might surprise your opponent. If it hits....remember you are a TON of advantage and they can't do anything but take your mix up or armor through. If you read backdash or armor you can sweep or block or whatever you want. I need to do more testing on this

Any BnB's figured out yet folks? I haven't labbed with him much yet (re-learning my old mains Bane and Aquaman, and playing alot online) but I'd like to see what others have found.

Swampy seems super interesting, and I definitely want to work on him.
Meterless I use F233,F23xdb3,11xdf1
And B233,F23xdb3,11xdf1
Sorry if notations are wrong,I don't have them memorized yet lol

It must be noted that the f233 meterless combo does not work if you hit f2 at max range, I'm convince it does not work out of sweep range on the smaller characters (average sweep range, not swamp thing's ridiculous sweep range). These meterless combos are important though, because swamp needs his meter to get in, get health back and to get plus frames when he has his opponent in the corner.

He has some other tricks he can do that save him meter, confirm f23 and b232 and end with db3. that leaves them right in front of you at plus 15. You can b2 confirm into full combo or same situation if you think they are going to disrespect the plus frames or green thumb if they respect the plus frames. Don't do GT too early though, it will whiff. B232 will even catch some backdashes in that situation, but if you read a back dash I'm sure f23 will cover that option against most characters if not all.

hes godtier against rushdown and mid range characters tho.
Oh for sure, not disputing that. But it's the rest of the cast and subsequently the top of the food chain that give him such a pain in the ass of a time. If you're competing, you can't be a Swamp Thing loyalist. He needs a secondary.

Corner combo - B2 3 2, DB2 ex, D2, 1 1 3 *360.00

If they're blocking the combo startup then it turns itself into simple pressure (can continue for the overhead, too).

I'm working on different endings for better damage. One did a ridiculous amount but I can't seem to repeat it.

Simple corner - B2 2 3, D2, 1 1 3 *278.91 (really, B2 2 3 is a great lead-in to any wall juggle that can be added to)

Mid map - B2 2 3, BF3 ex, B2 2, DF1B *405.32 (add an ex to the last move for "injury to insult" *448.74)

Simple mid map - B2 2 3, BF3 or DF1B (BF3 being easiest, timing wise, and knocks 'em back a goodly bit to help begin cornering or just to keep closers honest, placing them at range)

How are you guys using Abigail's garden in game?Trying to find a use for it lol
I'm using it as a corner only or mid to corner tool. I need to try to find a way to get it to spread another way other than walking to cover more space. In the corner, I use it to mask the the low in the b232 string that way I can do things like......b2 stop green thumb or go for b23 or overhead cancel b2 (though it uses 2 bars). I am trying to find a use for it mid screen not close to the corner. That's the hard part.

Haven't really touched swamp thing, but I did surf the forums and got a basic idea of how people wanted to play him. Is there anything I should know before I decide putting in work for him in terms of comparisons between how he actually plays etc?

Man im def sticking with swampy till games end buffs or no buffs , hes just to hype :) @AK Harold yea man that be cool idea if garden healed him, another thing bout garden havnt seen mentioned yet is if u spread the garden 8 "patches" if u press 4 again to stop the garden growth to make the trait meter drain slow it will kill the garden instead

Yeah, trait works in 2 stages. The first stage spreads the garden, the second stage keeps the garden up but stops spreading at a reduced trait cost.

It progresses to the second stage when
4 is pressed in first stage, when you jump, dash or backdash, when you cover enough ground, or when the trait bar reaches 50% - and trait cancels totally when you're hit.

A good way to spread the garden quickly is
BF3, since that doesn't stop stage 1 like dashing does. You can tell the devs were really concerned about his trait being overpowered. I just think the Recovery is painfully long. You basically have to give up a combo ender to do it safely, and a lot of times it isn't worth it.

I wish he could special cancel trait like Green Lantern and some others can.

F223-F23 it´s tough, really tough. You can drop the combo and be punished hard because the whiff has lot of recovery frames.
I prefer to pressure with F223 that is +6 on block , and if it connects you can do the easy F223-DF1U for nealy 270 dmg or the meter combo F223-DF3MB-.....

I love the safe heavy pressure midrange that F23 ST has:
F23-DB1 is mid-overhead-low
F233 is mid-overhead-overhead
You always gains a HDK(avoids wakeups) and middistance to continue with a meaty F23-.... till the corner.
Or...F23-DB3 for the reset (close restand with +15)
The only thing that I hate about ST is his trait, USELESS

Does bf3 corpse hop? I have been thinking that maybe we could use it as a scare tactic to corner the opponent and then vine them possibly. We need to find a way to trait with enough time to still get to continue pressure. I also have a theory....if we could find a way to trait mid combo and use bf3 in a string to spread then mb roll to the other side and fight them into the garden.....I think we could use this it this way especially in the corner.

Last thing, I keep getting hit using ST d2 by superman. Am I missing something here?
