if your home is nrs games then inj 2 will be great. But it's still an nrs game, this is still the nrs community it'll still die before sfv and after playing the beta there are still things they need to iron out. I still believe sfv is more coherent than inj/mkx by miles lul and inj 2 offers a more palatable nrs game

So no I won't drop sfv because of inj 2 if anything it'll be the Capcom dev team
That's interesting, thanks. I didn't get a beta code so I'm just going by what ive heard, on Injustice 2 having a heavier emphasis on neutral, more defensive options, less stupid mixups, etc.

What didn't you like about it?

Edit: agree that even with all its issues, SFV is way more solid than MKX. The latter has every issue SFV has, but to a greater degree. Only areas where MKX is ahead are not gameplay related (e.g., it has much better netcode).

Antiairs and walkspeed, neutral feels clunky, playing footsies feels like making a risky commitment more than safe reactionary playstyle. Zoning is still a chore and and using projectiles is almost brainless but that could change over time once the meta is developed. Unblockable interactables are still a thing. The input system is still really bad. The frame data or blockstun is weird where a string will be -10 and you can't punish it with like an 8 frame move just like inj 1. Or situations where you're plus 5 and feel like -2 lul.

Then there'll obviously be some kind of balance garbage guaranteed but again most people who just play nrs games don't realize how stiff the games feel so stuff like that are non issues.

I have come to the conclusion that Birdie will most likely be top ten in the next patch (maybe even higher than that). The meta should shift in his favor, as his most favorable matchup (Zangief) will probably see a lot more use, and his only terrible matchup (Guile) should be a bit better. I think he will also go even with a lot of other important characters after their changes (Urien, boxer, Laura, cammy) and beats Karin. Toolwise, I think he's better too, as the frame one armor on ex bullhorn and better hitbox on cr mp is worth the loss of frames on ex bullhead. The loss of jump back OS makes the game more random and worse overall (I really dislike this change), but is fine for Birdie as a character (he doesn't punish it that well anyway).

That said, I'm not sure I'll play SFV that much once Injustice 2 drops, if Injustice 2 is as fundamentally sound as the early indications make it sound.

Do the rest of you guys plan to play I2 more, or stick with SFV?
Honestly if you like sfv it's kinda hard for you to drop it, no matter how flawed it is. Remember every other fighting game will have flaws too, the difference is that the life of sfv is long and those flaws seem a bit less worrying as you will most likely see most of them fixed in its life. I'm excited for injustice2, but it's s different game, I'll probably end up playing both the same, alongside mk, IF I like inj2 like I liked mkx. I don't think too many SF fans would drop the game for an nrs game honestly, because they're so different to begin with.

There's like no midrange game really it was I'm Batman when do I jump because he can't antiair or trait dash in, he's Atrocitus when does he throw out his half screen cancellable Mid 50/50 or wait for trait to give him auto footsies string etc whoever goes on first kindve thing lul

The optimal ranges are either fullscreen doing this autopilot zoning or somebody is pressuring with midrange consisting of playing a game of chicken with jumping more than footsies. It feels like you can't just walk in on someone it's always gotta be a dash or a jump or I guess the dumb roll to move in neutral

It's an improvement over inj 1 neutral in some ways but again that game was pure garbage competiievly and it's my favorite nrs game lul

I know what you mean about the lack of mid range game in Injustice 1 - I was hoping the better walk speed would fix that.

Yeah my issue is that I work 50+ hours a week and travel every three weekends or so, so I only have time to play one game really. I'll try Injustice 2 out and if I like it more I will probably switch. But if SFV is more fun I'll stick to that.

Yea I get you, I don't have too much time to play myself so I understand. And it gets worse for us come September when mvci drops lol, at least we have choices.

so overly defensive, saying anything about any of Rushdown's characters is like signing your own death certificate. He will try to convince you how every tool his characters have is actually shit and/or gimmicky
Yeah you must be new here. I play busted characters and specifically point out shit thats broken as why I like to play them, I'm just saying that ex slide is in no way too strong it might even be his worst metered option, it's not even an option he uses outside of some weird meaty situations and side switch mixups. Akuma has like no dirt.

People saying they don't like things for no reason is not a valid opinion to have. It's how eventhubs makes their tierlists lol. It's why ryu/Nash aren't played anymore.

ALL I HAVE IS THE GREEN.
I plan on playing I2 as my main game. I'll keep playing SFV as well. I really hope that the characters they introduce in S2 are more interesting because right now, I only enjoy playing a select few characters. I also hope they balance the game a little better, because it feels like there is a tier of characters that are on another level right now. I just really hope Capcom gets their shit together with this game in every way.

I'm not really as worried about I2 because I feel it has a good gameplay core, and NRS is learning how to keep their games a little more balanced for competitive gameplay. I know that sounds weird, but towards the end of MKX, they really seemed to pull it together.

Not how opinions work. Me not liking Akuma being +2 after ex demon slide for whatever reason I have is perfectly fine as an opinion. You being extra defensive is unnecessary though. I didn't make a tierlist. I didn't suggest any changes. Just said "man I find this annoying". I find Cammy v-trigger dive annoying, Nash's LK sonic scythe annoying. They'r really effective moves and they're annoying when used correctly. Simple as that.

Now if I said something like Ryu's damage is annoying and I believe he doesn't need such easy high damage and the direction of the character needs to be changed. You can be against that and that'd be understandable.

Well you did say that it shouldn't be plus(I'm assuming that's your point here)but that's irrelevant at this point, and you can have whatever opinions/beliefs you want but if you can't back them up with a reason I don't have to respect them, that's some childish stuff lol. I mean what would you do about it?

All I'm saying is if you have an opinion with no argument to back it up and no solution to fix the perceived problem why bring it up in a forum for discussion? You asked why it's plus I said it's punishable on reaction, costs a bar, and can't be combod out of and you just shut it down with the equivalent of "that's dumb".

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
I'll be playing I2, the game looks too hype. However, I'll still be playing some SF, and if I2 feels too silly I'll just go back to maining SF. As long as its somewhat less silly than MKX however, I'm on board, and I'm pretty sure thats where its at. Plus, they have such a sick roster, and SFV has such a shit one.

I don't think I'll ever drop a SF, I'm really hyped though for inj2 and mvci, I just really hope inj2 isn't too hard for me to learn. I've never played injustice 1 so it's all going to be new to me, I mean clash/breakers/gear/b3-f3/meter management, all that I'm hoping I can learn to use all that well. Mvci yea that too I'm hyped for, but like I said SF to me at least isnt a game you play and just drop it for another.

It's all so very confusing.
Im hoping that Ed is interesting and different.. But VIABLY different. but I dont see anyone being strong in a game based *almost* entirely around guess based pressure into a knockdown into guess based Oki.. into a vortex and the removal of jump back OS just FURTHER enforces the stupid oki/guess aspect of the game, and so on, but Id love to be proven wrong. There are a couple characters that can win without the homogeneous 50/50 vortex shit, but they are thin on the ground. SFV has some great shit in it, and maybe Ed will bring some of that to prominence because right now the best - and almost only - reliable and effective gameplan is to exploit the absolute (in my opinion) worst aspects the game has to offer.

On a side note, I honestly feel like with the way the game works in S2, SonicFox could return and be EXTREMELY effective.. SFV mimics MKX in a few key was, with the way you can use stagger strings and work behind plus on block pressure and force guessing situations that hugely favor the person on the offensive. There are shades of MKX style offense here IMO.. pressure is never unsafe unless you decide to make it and the person on the offensive holds all the cards. Very good environment for Fox imo.

I picked up Inj1 a few months ago and played it for a handful of weeks, just to get some vague idea as to what Inj2 might feel/work like.. I have pretty weak execution and I was able to do pretty much everything I'd need to do in Injustice from an execution standpoint on about 4 different characters after less than an hour and a hlf practice on each of them.. Learning a game is more than just learning your combos, but they are super easy and the game itself follows suit. Inj2 is different of course, but I wouldn't be worried about having trouble learning it. gear for instance is almost certainly going to be disabled in any kind of competitive environment, so games vs folks from here, or probably in ranked, etc, will be gear-less.. I know I have literally no intention of ever once turning it on. I'll collect it for the looks, but I dont ever plan to use it. The clash thing was different though - that took me some getting used to. I dont think you'll have trouble learning it at all.

We are all spoiled as hell for choice when it comes to fighting games this year.. I bought a PS4 just to make sure I'm prepared. Myself, I'm looking forward to:

KOFXIV
SFV (Ed's release - and I still hold out hope that I will like this game, somehow)
Inj2
Tekken 7

BB:CF and GG Rev2 and MVCi I'll likely be skipping. KOF is just an experiment right now - but I'd love it if I really got in to it. In a perfect world, SFV stops disgusting me every time I see it and I settle on either T7 or Inj2 as a second game.

I have to say though, I really wish - though i understand why they dont - they allowed you to transfer your CFN. I want SFV on ps4, but I cant stomach the thought of paying Capcom MORE money for the game AND re-buying all the damn DLC.

I'm perfectly fine with your reasoning for why it's plus, even though it wasn't a serious question. I didn't shut anything down, I simply told you my point is that I don't like it. You're arguing shit I never opposed. You started an argument after being told I'm not trying to argue about the moves properties.

You got defensive because I dont like something your character has . Instead of just going "my bad", you're on this whole thing as if I'm impossible to debate when you're arguing with no one. What would you do when some guy is trying to argue when you've conceded a side you didn't even know you were on?

Yea hopefully I can learn inj2 to where I get past the beginner experience. My execution is bad most of the time but I'll manage. I know that with practice I'll learn all that clash stuff. Gear I wasn't a fan of ever since I heard of it and even though I never played injustice I kinda thought it would be cheapish. Now I love mkx and I beliebe Ive asked this before but is Injustice kinda like mkx in a way?

To be completely honest idgaf if you like what my character has. My problem is that you DONT have a reason to dislike it. It's like when I'm with my 5 year old niece and she's arguing about why she doesn't like the song little wing, "because i don't like it" isn't a stance rational adults take. I'd accept a shitty reason, just have a reason.

nobody gives a shit what you accept and what you dont, he doesnt like the move and its going to stay that way no matter how hard it is for you to deal with that reality, its been 3 page of this shit now move on

Yes and your input is super important and will surely help move this conversation in a good direction. Thanks.

Also it's not what I accept, it's what people actually trying to have a discussion accept. You can't argue with a rock because it's just a rock it can't reason, if you're gonna post in a forum built specifically to discuss a topic at least be capable of having a discussion about it.

A lot of these criticisms about Injustice 2 are things that are very much a part of SFV.

You're still on this argue thing. We discussed it. I asked questions. I'm still going to dislike it. Were you trying to convince me to like it? I honestly don't know how to make this any clearer. If we were actually arguing the balance of the move then whatever. But I'm not, I'm simply stating my dislike of a move. I'm done. A person can simply not like something.

I'm willing to drop it since it seems to be what you wanna do but honestly I just wanted to know why you dislike the move, I don't think a person can just not like something there's gotta be a reason.

Walkspeed is better but it's that's a low bar from Injustice 1. Your playing footsies with advancing strings so even though you just outspaced Supergirl's B1 advancing mid by the the time you react with with your button the quick low followup in Supergirl's b12 string is clipping you for trying to whiff punish or walk back.

A lot of these criticisms about Injustice 2 are things that are very much a part of SFV.
You can actually antiair in sfv, you do actually have walkspeed in sfv, there is no zoning in sfv, there is no autofootsie trait calls in sfv, there are no advancing Mid strings in sfv...so what are you talking about lul

Jumping Is powerful in sfv but at least jump in > into jump in isn't a real thing in that game lul

Its more like injustice 2 amplifies what's fundamentally wrong with sfv

Did you mistype that or do you actually think sfv has "no zoning". It's definitely weaker than it was but I don't think you can say zoning as a concept doesn't exist. They did go a little overboard with the anti fireball tech though.
