What's new

follow-ups shorter than the first attack, that's why we have whiffing issues

All too easy...
I hate how we shame ourselves for prefering safe mid strings when the reason we do so is mostly because there is no hit confirmation and we don't wanna be punished for not being able to do so.

Imagine in sf games with Ryu having to input the whole combo without hit confirmation and we go for something like combo into dp ender but u gotta input the dp before the whole combo comes out since the game wouldn't register the dp if you input it late haha.
Um, there are hit confirms they just work differently than SF because of the combo system. If youve been playing these assuming hit confirms do not exist that might actually explain a lot lol.

Like are you not hit confirming B12 as Aquaman? You do the B12 and buffer the special input then confirm into FTD or scoop on hit

I'm not demanding buffs, I literally just said idgaf about scarecrow, so how exactly am I demanding buffs? Did you even read the post properly?
Call it what you want, man. "fix this thing I don't like even tho I haven't even used it yet." I didn't mean you specifically, I was more referring to the entirety of the pro-changes crowd

It doesn't really look intentional, but meh, hitboxes are bullshit anyway.

It'll probably get fixed in their next internal build of the game, though, if it already isn't. Like a majority of the things people made any issue about with I2.

Well you can cut me out of that crowd, because I'm not asking for buffs, I'm asking for no Johnny like situations. How hard is that to understand? Matter of fact I haven't even watched the video, I'm just basing off of op's original point, because it isn't wrong.

TYM's #1 L taker.
Could be intentional, on scarecrow who relies on mid range I could see spacing being important.
Now if it were flash and you were right in their grill I'd be pretty upset

Exactly

Considering the OP linked a video and specifically discussed scarecrow, my discussion was on such topic

I'm no expert, but I recall Black Adam had a wonky hitbox on his 22 string, but only if he crossed up his opponent. That was an issue because for all intents and purposes, he was the same distance away from the opponent, but because you crossed them up, the second 2 of the 22 sequence whiffed.

This is vastly different. The first hit advances, but uses his sickle, the second hit is just a swinging uppercut, sans weapon. There is nothing wrong with a string whiffing something beyond the first hit if you're spaced improperly. I would expect it, honestly.

Hitbox issues exist, but this isn't one of them.

This thread seems to be going places.
yeah we're headed to bizarro world in which a string whiffing on hit somewhat is the player's fault for not spacing it correctly

like in the last few years we didn't have a buttload of documented cases of wonky breathing hit/hurtbox often attached to costumes and skins

in the end, any scarecrow player will adapt and work his gameplan around this
but the fact that we still have issues carrying over for no reason, stands

Really doesn't make sense what you said there.
If the first hit connects then the rest of the string needs to connect as well.
That is why most scrubs though MKX string mechanics were fine lol.

There is nothing wrong with scarecrow's follow-up, as far as i saw, its working as intended.
The character has a disjointed hitbox which he uses to fight mid range and has advancing strings from it, its only natural that you can't just throw them out there and expect to hit without no space calculations.

Love the concept, lets just hope NRS stick to their design rules.

calling it now, "working as intended" will be the flair for the next 2 years
Just give it a chance, not sure if this will stay this way or not in the final release but we surely will find out.

I'm still divided, if this game ends up being another fullscreen strings fest, i will definitely step away from NRS games until a major improvement is made in a future game.

I'm referring to scarecrow's because it was shown in the video
but I'd like everyone to look at the big picture because, despite different range of the moves, there are similarities with all of the whiffing we have in mkx

honestly I'm more scared of left-right inconsistencies and setups more than ranges, as long as the spacing is solid and consistent (which apparently isn't just by looking at the clip in the op) I'm ok with all kind of ranges

Jeez guys, justifying the whiff is kinda weird lol. The idea of a string like that is built with maximum spacing in mind. That is literally how everything involving the character is described and it doesn't look intentional for it to even whiff. It's likely going to be fixed.
