For Honor

Resolution through knowledge and resolve.
There's a completely different tier list for duels/brawl and 4v4 game modes. Nobushi is quite good in 4v4, sub par in duels.
Thanks. She's a good secondary for me then. Dominion is the only mode that moves me.

For Honor is the most fun when players have no honor. When matches go honorably, they are mostly boring.

From what I understand, you can't punish someone after blocking (unless there are some cases that you could, but I don't know that much) and you can punish, at least in most cases, after a parry, be it a light attack or a guard break (I am aware that there are some cases that you don't get a punish after a parry).
So, if I am correct (at least partially) you would be missing opportunities for punishing your opponents if you do not attempt parries.
Being defense the strongest aspect in the game, not getting a punish after blocking the opponents attack it's preventing defense to be stronger and having to risk parrying (assuming there is a risk, if there is not it must be fixed, like not being able to cancel the heavy attack that initiated because the opponent feinted) to get a punish is what is letting the offensive player to open up the defensive one (among other things)
Then again, there is a lot I still don't know about the game, so I'm probably failing to see somethings
The problem is there's no disadvantage for literally just sitting there and blocking everymove instead of parrying. Sure you are missing out on opportunities but you are completely safe and for most characters there's no way you'll ever get hit. Also when round timer runs out it's a tie so if a high level player wanted to, he could get a tie every single time against the low and mid tier characters.

The only reason top players don't do this is because certain characters have good offense that shuts this down but those characters are all top tier

Well, in that case the disadvantage is that by doing that, you cannot win.
The biggest issue I see with that is that a player could force a tie in every round after winning the first.

What about a implementing a blocking limit?
Something like a bar that fills with each block and when full you're no longer able to block the next attack.
I would prefer this over the stamina drain because you'll have less stamina to attack after blocking (and currently, if I'm right, having no stamina does not prevent the player to be able to defend properly, aside from the reduced movement)
Also, if blocking cost stamina, wouldn't that make the offensive player more timid?
What I mean is that having to take into account that you need stamina for blocking and not get exhausted in the process, you would be more reluctant to use all the stamina for attacking, it would also be possible that we have both players exhausted simultaneously which leads to not being able to attack effectively.

Although I don't like any of the aforementioned changes to be honest.

A depletion of the stamina while blocking wouldn't really work idk why I said that the better idea is just a lot more chip. The depletion of stamina would make the defender more aggressive but the attacker more defensive which will hurt both of the extremes.

A bar for blocking just will never work and never happen. Too much change and honestly everyone would hate it

So, I am now what's wrong with the world.

I am making the swap to Warlord as my main.

Now, its not because I'm not winning as Warden or anything, I just find myself not enjoying Warden gameplay as much as I thought I would and the WL was a character I really liked the look and play style of from the start, before I knew he was more or less broken. He can be played in a lot of different ways and part of what makes him so strong is that he just has so many options.. Options are something I really like in a character. Unfortunately though, Warden got me used to having a shoulder bash and its something I really want in my main. Its a crutch, dont get me wrong, but I just like having one. I also feel like, unless they really do STUPID shit to WL, his options and kit will make him hard to ever make 'bad'. So WHEN he gets his nerfs, hopefully his kit and options will still keep him very strong.

I will be co-maining Nobushi alongside WL though. I love her, and REALLY enjoy playing her, just want a character that can deal with the broken stuff we have going on by meeting it head on. Warlord also looks bad as hell. Nobu teaches me how to properly play the game. WL helps me win occasionally, lol.

Ive been chewing on this for a few days now.

Warden - been my main, just dont like him as much as I thought I would.
LB - No. First, a friend mains him and we are trying not to overlap, but he's not just 'bad' he's tedious. Dislike his playstyle a LOT.
PK - Like her, but I feel like she's playing her own game entirely and I worry that the community outcry will get her over-nerfed and she'll turn out shit. Just too much hate and too much potential for her to be fucked,.
Conq - Nah. Broken like I dunno. Not just OP broken but like buggy and weird. I dont like him as much as WL any way.

Raider - A friend mains him.
Zerker - A friend mains him and I like the least of the assasins.
Valk - Super strong and I like her, but a little tedious to play and I HATE how she looks and her voice.

Kensei - Just dont like his playstyle.
Oro - LOVE this character, but like I said originally, I want a top tier character with a bash.
Goki - I know he's good, but I hate his trolly playstyle and how he plays. So slow and clunky too.

Ultimately, that's how I broke this down and decided on WL. I will probably end up playing Orochi as a tertiary character at some point.

So yep. This has been a pointless, and pointlessly long, post.

Omg amazing , can't believe they still haven't fixed brokekeeper yet but it's a start I guess . I have a feeling the steel increase is to prep us for the cost of the dlc heroes though but oh well I'll take it
they were saying last week that this next coming week is big balance patch but Im not sure if theyll keep the promise.

I honestly dont understand why a character like Shugoki even exists. Balance or tiers aside, why does something like that exist? One touch you have no stamina, one missed GB and you're not only losing 25% + of your life - OR THE ENTIRE GAME IF HES LOW - but hes going to heal something like 50% if theres a wall nearby. He can unlock and charge and you auto fall if your close to anything.. Like when I lose to one, I dont feel like I lost to anything meaningful. I dont feel like I learned anything I can apply nbext time, aside from NEVER missing a GB, so god help me when he gets a guarenteed one.

Honestly, I have struggled to find ANY enjoyment in this game the last three or four times Ive played. Its just dumb spammed crap over and over. I tried WL tonight and it was ok, but I couldnt bring myself to REALLY spam is headbutt. I was trying to play at least somewhat like a human, and between the pks who literally spin the stick and hit lights, the Goki's that just exist and a large spattering of weird interactions (gb's not working or whiffing at dead point blank, me hearing the SHING from a parry but taking the hit, etc), I just dont see where the enjoyment comes from. When you get an actual fight, its great, but between utterly broken balance (i had no idea how bad it was until I really dove in), exploitable horseshit like the unlock tech stuff, weird ass lagg or code-fucked interactions, the shaky connections and buggy-as-shit client..

Yeah shugoki is one of the most retarted characters ive seen in a long time not that he is op or anything just his whole gameplay is absolutely ridiculous and cringe worthy to watch at high levels my biggest complaint about this game is that stupid character.

With warlord your gonna have to headbutt spam if people aren't doing anything about it just keep doint it. then when they finally get flustered and try to stop it thats when you can incorporate other things into your game like parries, full guard, guard breaks etc. ive said this many times before warlords main offense comes from headbutt he has no other way of opening people up this game.

Against goki he really doesnt have much options against headbutt just keep spamming it then he is gonna try to interupted headbutt with his lights thats when you have to start parrying his light attacks. its really just headbutt them parry lights against goki

Againts Pk you'll notice something really annoying as warlord you'll see that when she is in close you wont be able to see her i mean nothing she is so small your shield covers up her whole body its gonna be like your fighting a ghost. Not only does she have the fastest attacks in the game now you cant even see the character as warlord. and its much harder to guard break her too because you have no visual cue its really frustrating.

Does annyone know how the camera works in this game sometimes it's close sometimes its far out can you control that i need the camera to be as far out as possible against PK

Pks that just spam their stance into a light most likely are the most laggiest mofos alive. That's why they get away with what they do. Lag really effects the blocking in this game and it's so incredibly dangerous if there is a player who is laggy and they know it. It can change an easily reactable move into unreactable

Telling you fellas, this game is garbage for competitive play. There are some really good ideas they can build off of. But it's going to take a lot of work to get the game to where it needs to be good competitively.

I was a sucker and really got roped in with how fun the game is to learn, but once you get into the true meat and potatoes of the game it's a mess. Like I said for the time I invested it was worth the money and I absolutely had fun playing for quite a while. But ignorance was bliss. It should have been a red flag to me when they released the game using garbage peer to peer connections instead of dedicated servers. Alas, it is what it is ultimately I feel I got my moneys worth but can't help being left with a bitter taste in my mouth knowing the potential the game could have.

It's interesting you bring up the camera, I was thinking about that last night myself. Sometimes it would pan way out and sometimes it's in close, and I'm sure it's something I'll adjust too with time, but that threw me off in my timings quite a bit.. it doesn't literally change anything but the distance does change visual interpretation of speed, which occasionally fucked me over.

I don't know, last night was the most frustrated I've been at any game in a long time. I totally gave up parrying ANYTHING and just tried to concentrate on blocking and even that I couldn't seem to do. Not just vs PK either, I couldn't block anyone, it was bizarre. I've been practicing, when I change guard side, to hit slightly down right or left instead of straight across because occasionally I was, in the heat of the moment, getting an up input, but even that wasn't helping me last night. I got in my own head I guess, but when, like, a Raider throws a side heavy and I fail to block it, I get confused.

So, after some thinking, this is how I block.. I don't know why, it's just what makes sense to my brain.. does this effect anything? When someone attacks me, I always active block, I did it before I even knew assassin's had to refresh stance, like if a hit is coming from the right, even if my guard is already there, I'll hold the stick right. If a second hit comes right I'll do it again. Is there some weird refresh on block that's fucking me over here? Meh.

I going to get on in a few and try to grind a couple hours before work.

All I want is a ranked mode where I can play elimination and dominion without gear. Also a spectator mode. It's annoying watching streams where they have to kill the two cameraman and then duel on a 4v4 map with made up borders

Blocking with me is hit or miss on a whole different level. It might be me trying to play after busy days, but when I'm on blocking - it seems like I block everything - and when I'm off - it seems like I get hit with stuff that should have been easy to block. When I get it right, its like this...

Be pre-emptive, but don't act pre-emptively. If you're not sure what they are going to attack with, match their guard until you want to go on the offensive. If you think you can predict, leave your guard off where you think its going - and just meet them at the point of attack when it comes. In order to parry, you have to first block and then wait and parry at the appropriate time, so just relax. If you try to block and parry like a seagull going after a french fry - you're going to eat damage. If you're outnumbered, focus on your target - but try to keep everyone else to one side so you don't have to jump through hoops to stay alive.

Lastly, start with a stamina lead and try to keep it. Its such a big part of the game. Let them initiate, then take the rest of their stamina and after that eating up the rest of their life bar will be much easier.

I know not alot of you listen to hip hop, but this will illustrate the rhythm you should play within. As ill as a song as this is...
...its too fast.

Something like this has a better rhythm for playing 4H...

Don't get why the side heavy for pk got nerfed isn't that like , barely used (minus when she throws you into a wall and gets a guaranteed one?) That aside the zone attack nerf is justified. I'm hoping they don't change anything else and see how she plays until the next patch and then see if she still needs to be balanced or not.
