This isn't possible on consoles (and would be a security risk if it was), so it's likely that this could become a fairly important issue in ESL.

It'd still be exposed if someone made the finals, but it leaves room for someone to mess things up for other people.

Nah because the EU ESL competition is weaker so people from the US would sign up hoping for a better chance of getting in the money. Whereas EU players would just stick to EU ESL.

But thank god ESL has a good system for this

1.You need to show a photo of your passport

2.Your IBAN needs to be EU

Good luck to them comiting a felony to try and get around that!

Bad that it's not checked till Top 8 but that means they can never win.

Also if that happens and I find out, I'll be snitching like a mother fucker and I'd advise other people do too ;)

Also ESL majors where 2 seasons on XBox that was not Region locked before, they didn't seem to have this problem

Yeah big time online circuits like ESL and Kombat Cup will regulate their regional tournaments. It's more the smaller tourneys that will likely get out of control.

While this doesn't affect me directly as a US player, I am happy for our international players. More diverse competition is always better.

And some probably have...We'll never know. It still required some effort though, buying a US copy is not something everyone would do. Now whoever wants to fraud the system only has to register using fake PSN ID...I hope ESL has some kind of solution to this.

Yep, unless for some bizarre reason it ends up running better on xbox one than ps4 (like with IGAU running better on 360 than ps3), but as there weren't any issues like that with MKX it's highly unlikely.

Xbone will now be a Halo and KI machine

Console Exclusive Fighters was always a dumb idea IMO

The genre is only niche enough, a gamelike SFV should not of had lacklustre of sales (although a big part of that is the game shipping without Story mode and such)

KI did well mostly because it was a launch title I'd say

But if it was the only way KI could exist it's definitely better than nothing

Wouldn't say this is "bad" for NA players, it's just nothing changes for us. Good for the EU players though. Unless my friends who live in Australia, Europe etc had Xbox I couldn't ever play with them. This should be fun.
