Why wont NRS get rid of the weird defeat animation?

In Tekken, characters have been ridiculously hitting the ground arching their back in pain after a round no matter how dead you beat them up lol. It's beyond stupid but it's still there for over a decade.

It's just one of those things that maybe they just don't care enough to change.

In I1 Bane could win with no flop by killing them when they hit the ground after throwing them behind you on a mb back breaker. It was pretty satisfying, but I also kind of like the flop. Its just one of those little things in a game that on paper is dumb but it grows on you over time.

I really do hope some sort of brutalities are introduced, even if it's some silly shit like ending the match with a b3 that will make the opponent fly off screen and immediately cuts to the winpose (think i1 Flash's winpose). Bonus points if they add a Wilhelm scream here.

Even something such as a slowed down final hit for certain strings/specials if requirements are met. (eg: Superman flying punch or Beetle's trait bf3) that will make them stay down. Extra points if they do different animations for some of them.

Another option is environment enders such as KI where say if you end the killing combo in Atlantis with the throne interactable the opponent will get stuck on the throne instead of bouncing back.
If SFV can do it and have you putting fools in a fuckin coffin and a flying jet seat then Injustice definitely can considering that using background bullshit is it's thing.

By that point you should either be happy you won or salty you lost so I've never seen the issue personally.

Has anybody watched the Swamp Thing gameplay.

His looks fine, by default. Haha. He just stands up and sinks down into the ground. Of course he does the same when he ducks. So NRS has screwed any tea bag potential. I was honestly holding thumbs he would get a tea tree growing out his junk when he ducked. Would have been a work of art.

I don't get what makes it hard to animate.

You make a slightly different animation if they are standing and get hit...projectiles they fall backwards forcibly onto the ground (like being pushed), normals they can drop like they do now, physical specials makes them hit the ground harder. If they are mid combo, once they hit the ground, they struggle to get up but fall back down and stay there. There also needs to be a more definitive sign that the opponent lost, like what happens when you hit Jason in unstoppable before he has the option to revive, where it's a bit of a firework-like animation (loosely translated) and slow motion for a second. Many FGs have that "Last Hit Animation", Tekken does the slow mo which looks awesome, SFV has the painful cry at the end, so-on.


I've hated the way matches ended since IGAU.

How is this bitching? Isn't a large part of enjoying video game based on how it looks and how immersive it is? And doesn't it seem strange that NRS puts so much detail in other things (skins, sound effects, etc) but chooses not to address such an oddity?

In a match, characters don't kill each other like they did in the story. Not MK.

When I said "kill", I just meant the final health depleting hit.

I'm talking about the OP anyway. Yeah, characters are "exhausted" rather than "knocked out" seeming like they could continue the battle or it's time for their teammates to show up after a monologue from the winner.
