He would be terrible without it, imo.
Rethought my position on this...

Countering guard breaks is also going to be easier with this patch, so I am thinking Conqueror doesn't really lose or gain with this patch. Only time will tell.

guys, I'd love to make this a topic. Imho pretty much every attack sequence is reactable. I even think that PK zone-cancels can be reacted to.

The only tool that I think must be guessed is the Kensai 3rd hit (unblockable), which can be cancelled into the armored side attacks or simply be cancelled (slightly later) by pressing the cancel button. This forces a real guess imho.

does any character have something comparable?

the warden vortex somewhat might be, but I don't know. I guess, the valkyre might have some severe mix-ups too, but she relys heavily on hitting her 1st light to start a mixup.

The Conqueror, Warlord, Shugoki, and Valkyrie all have mixups that force you to guess between dodging or blocking.

Nobushi is very predictable. Just follow her guard. Swapping sides takes her ages.

Hidden Stance is fine, but usually the opponent has no reason to come closer once you went into it.

At this point Kensai & Warden mixups are the only ones that really work in 1vs1 situations. At least for me...
What about peacekeeper.

I think people are sleeping on orichi he is basically a 50/50 character between the top light and the zone attack there both super fast. He has good mobility a good wiff punisher guard break set ups good damage etc

can you elaborate?

peacekeeper might have some decent mixups, but I have yet so see someone dishing out damage with them.

PK zone attack is not reactable straight up because switching guard takes 8 frames (at 60 fps) to start after you input the direction. Switching guard is not instant like other fighting games. So you have to take that in to account for reaction times.

That actually explains a lot, didn't think about that.

how good are whiff punishes in this game, shall I bait pokes and whiff punish them or is parry the better choice.
in what situations would I cancel a HP - just to fake the opponent and then attack from the other side?

opponents who are switching their stance, I find it kinda hard to react on time and block these.
what if two players attack at the same time, both get hit or the character with the better range & startup?
how can I do finish moves? triangle when the opponent is dizzy? pressed it a few times, didn't seem to work.

just finally had one day off work and spent like 3 hours on this game so far to figure out a few things.
but not everything yet because the tutorial doesn't explain all the stuff such as zone attacks, cancel etc.

after a guard break every character gets a free side heavy while some get a free overhead. Parry usually means a free guard break on most character, while character like nobushi, kensei, Shugoki, valk, and lawbringer cant be in certain situations

Not every character gets a free heavy.

I hate how much slower guardbreaks are when the opponent is exhausted. It always messes up my timing when trying to tech them. Also, Warlords headbutt is way too safe. Ive never punished or been punished when this attack is used.

So does that mean for every character the switching stance is 4 frames (console)?
Also is this for just changing the stance or does it take 4 frames to actually block on another side?
So many questions, did you just test this/find this out or was this common knowledge?
This is huge and no ones talking about it.
