Question Who was the MOST Overrated character to get nerfed?

Tanya's a weird one. The idea that she went from top 3 to bottom 3 never made any sense to me. Either she was severely upplayed Pre-XL or severely downplayed post-XL. No point asking actual Tanya players what they think was the more likely scenario, for obvious reasons...

Tanya was certainly not overrated, they went too far with the nerfs but she was top five, no question.
She was, but she wasn't as far ahead of the rest of the cast as she would have had to be for those nerfs to be justified. Hence, overrated.

Launch Tanya was broken lol. Pre XL Kobu was (soap bar in my mouth). Tanya is balanced now.
When every single player drops a character except for their biggest fans, I don't think that's 'balanced', I think that's overnerfed.

Cassie. The backflip nerf. That move was fine, people just needed to hold it. The overhead nerf is whatever, if EVERY overhead would had went that way I wouldn't be saying this, but I don't think she needed that either.

I'm gonna play Devil's advocate and say (as someone who didn't play him by the way, just so we're clear that I'm not biased or whatever) most, if not all of the Cyber Sub hype at launch window was merely propaganda to attempt to coax NRS into continuing to patch the game.

Thing is every single KP2 variation got propagandarized during launch window, it certainly wasn't just Cyber Sub, and all of them had some straw-clutching talking points attached to them. It's just that Cyber Sub took the biggest hit relative to how good he was perceived to be. (you can't nerf Leatherface to the ground if he's already in the ground *roll safe memes inbound*)

Besides all that, the patch he was nerfed in, Bo Rai Cho was also nerfed, which pretty much proved it was simply a pre-prepared "just in case they complain about KP2" umbrella patch and immediately lost any validation behind whether NRS were actually right to do it.
LEATHERFACE was fucking nerfed too like come on. Why?

If you're talking about the flip kick armor being removed then that's crazy. EX flip pre patch was a 6 frame armored launcher that is almost always safe. Lol tf it's still an excellent anti air and great reversal.

I feel that the balancing factor was chosen wrong is all.
It did need a nerf, just not the way it went. I'd have made it -20 on block and -25 on whiff.
 
I knew someone would mention TG lol. Idr exactly everything but sorry a 6F mid was dumb. Also offensive option selects were ridiculous when this game first came out. But if there were other changes idr them
As a casual who was maining TG, I can see that some of the nerfs might have been deserved. It still sucks when it happens, but ok. Actually, some of the deep meta stuff that affects the pro matches probably wasn't going to come into play in casual matches. Even adding some frames here and there isn't the end of the world, not like the casuals are going to feel a massive difference in the milliseconds between 7f moves and 10f moves. I liked Raiden because I was able to get in the lab and work up some decent combos (not full combos) that did some good damage. Hey, that's what you want at a casual level right? The fun is being able to pull of some cool combos that hurt.

The thing with TG though was when they hit with damage scaling it hit hard, the scaling started WAY early in the combo. So, it ended up not necessarily hurting the pros who can do full 25 move combos as much as the casuals who weren't going to get that far. Wow, a 10% drop on damage overnight! That sucks. It wasn't like I was winning every match with him before anyways, now when I manage to get off a combo in a match it does like half as much?

Plus, they made the combos more strict. Making the combos more strict?! WTF kind of nerf is that!? Seriously! Just think if you've been playing a character for awhile and you find out nothing else is going to change, except all of a sudden they are going to make it a lot harder to execute your combos. Really, come on. I don't even understand that as a nerf. I wouldn't wish that on an enemy. Ha ha ha, your life just got harder, overnight you need to quit your job and put months in the lab to develop semi-pro execution skills. Again, that is something that is going to hit the casual hardest.

So, TG's combos are going to be harder to do and they are going to do way less damage when you do them? Uh, why not just tell us that you don't want casuals to play the character anymore? Why not just delete the variation? If anything, I'd rather every characters' combos were less strict so casuals can have more fun.

Well he never had tick throws anyway. He's still got mix but damn NRS was like "Nah fuck him" and then nothing to help him because triborg and alien were dumb therefor ALL of KP2 has to be dumb yea? NERF EM!

Which isn't advantageous for her to begin with, since she's a rushdown character, who used to have a strong 50/50 game. Even less so if it's negative on block and you can run up and punish. Or if she uses it and it whiffs, you yet again run up and punish.

Cyber sub and cyrax both got destroyed.

Cyrax was dumb but they ruined him. After I put in a ton of time to mastering him they just took a shit on the character so quickly and told me to relearn and create a bunch of new shit to work around his drastic nerfs. Terrible.

I wouldn't say either of these characters were that overrated though. They were both very stupid, they were just overnerfed.
