All too easy...
Lackey is variationless Goro but with no safe special, no plus frames (except off a 20+ frame high), no armored launcher for 2 bars, no anti air, no projectile, and no flying unblockable hkd, and a worse run

Ayy but that D1 tho amirite?

Ok I'll just do wrestler combos just without the mix potential and damage.
I mean if Wrestler has ways to link stuff into 3B2 instead of taking a chance with a bar on non-hitconfirmable stuff I'm all for hearing it.

All Heavy Weapons really needs is for either EX BF2 or EX BF4 to get fixed up. As far as stamina goes he still plays by the same rules as every other RC variation.

I dare to disagree. Safe plus on block armor, 50/50 starters, smart disc, combos off a throw and decent normals.
Warriors issue is getting in and staying in on the opponent. He has no way of building the meter he needs while trying to get in. Once in, the armor costs meter and doesn't allow for pressure to continue because it has a big push back. the 50/50 cost meter and can only be done at point blank which again you can't get in in the first place, the throw doesn't combo you need to set up a self destruct first and then land the throw which you can't because you have to get in first, its only viable in the corner after you have landed a combo to do the set up. Smart disc has high recovery and goes away on block so you will get hit by a projectile and it will go away so no use in it.

Warriors throw launcher is very overrated because people who don't play the character don't understand what is necessary to actually set it up and land the hit.

By the time you get to land a hit the opponent has built enough meter to break and you are back into getting in.

I don't know about other characters but I have struggled with this variation for a long time and always come to the same issues. I have never seen any footage of anybody doing good with this variation, unlike other variations that have had some representation and success.

Anyway, to actually answer the threads question, if we're looking at this objectively and not in personal taste/agenda it's gotta be either Lackey Torr or Outlaw Erron.

Literally all you need to beat Outlaw now is a good poke. Which was even somewhat true from day 1 but people were befuddled by SonicFox being SonicFox (which I also think is why Outlaw isn't mentioned in these kinds of threads as much as it should be), but at least back then it had some degree of applicable setplay.

Some complain about their characters losing armoured launchers out of quality of life reasons, but none was fucked more than this than Lackey. All of his frame data and move properties reeks of being built with the presence of a mostly safe armoured launcher ready, but now he just plain and simple doesn't have one. Not much else to say.

As someone who plays Outlaw, there are definitely much worse variations out there. Lackey Torr and HW Jax are contenders for absolutely worse. Imma go with HW simply cuz his midscreen combo game got shit on. My first love gets shit on a year later. :(
All his midscreen combos are still possible. The only difficult one is 123 into f4 or f3. The rest is simply canceling into standing 1. They seem tight at first but they eventual become incredibly easy.

It boggles me that they didn't remove armored launchers in a more intelligent manner. Characters like Warlock, Lackey, Outlaw, Bojutsu, War God, maybe even Warrior should honestly have kept their launchers (maybe have the damage toned down a bit). Their launchers to a great extent defined them. Instead they kept Unbreakable's because it was added not long ago and I'm assuming it was NRS attempt to make him more attractive.

On block, can't you crush their poke with an instant-air strike? Also, if they are disrespecting, a d4 canceled into air disc nigh guarantees a jump in (they can backdash but disc still exists), which allows you to build 75% of a bar with jump in b311xxSlam. I'm not saying he's great or anything cause you are definitely more experienced, but he does get a mind game for that bar, a mind game that almost returns the bar if it goes in your favor.

Your hole is mine!
I've been giving myself a hard thinking on Warrior's placement. And I think he's an example of a decent character with no player to have a home with. He is a bizarre character that requires a specific person to make look good.
Exactly, in the same way Dualist isn't a shit character it just takes a really dedicated player to bring it out like @FOREVER EL1TE

Yeah I definitely agree with Unbreakable only keeping his based on the persistent ranting/fishing for collusion buffs, but the others who lost theirs is a bit different.

- Warlock would be okay if they fixed the armour duration/tracking on Portal Stab instead of glossing over it with a 3rd hit of armour that it doesn't need. (Takeda's flurry punches is slower with 2 hits and works fine)
- War God still has variation exclusive mixups.
- Bojutsu has some good base tools, more suffers from an identity crisis relative to KJ's other variants. (may be more incentive to use it if the EX cartwheel was unsafe on block and EX Bo Swing worked more like Shinnok's EX shoulder or something)
- Outlaw I think could be salvaged with utility improvements to the Tarkatan arm attacks, EX sand was always a bit janky and there's arguably nothing Outlaw-esque about it.
- Warrior Predator I think they got right in terms of armour given that EX Dread Slap is still a huge step up from Scimitar Stab.

The problem with Lackey on the other hand is that it loses several important default Ferra/Torr assets and the EX Torryuken was designed in mind to trade off for that. Without that threat there, it leaves the rest of Lackey wide open really.

I might be salty about Warlock's current state but at least it keeps all of Quan's default tools, which is what Summoner/Sorcerer start off every round as anyway.

Stahp he's not even bottom he's low mid tier. Bojutsu's literal only probably is that the other two KJ variations exist and make him essentially pointless.
hes probably buttom 10, pick a zoner, hes done, hes slow ass jump, and bad run wont help. Maybe I overreacted I cant think of someone worse than outlaw and Lackey.
