Is it though?

I mean, yeah.. they should have desynced... but we are not talking about a accidental re-syncing error here are we?

We are talking about a player stopping a match, taking over the screen and basically rebooting the PS4... that isn't an accident.

Surely some blame must land on that person.. in the same way if I get robbed and had my door unlocked I might be an idiot.. but I wasn't the one robbing.

It's a way to turn off the controller when you don't know which console it's connected to, and on top of that it's only 1 button press differently to logging out of the PS4, both options make sense to me cause both would get your controller off that console temporarily.

After every match I play in tournament I make sure to tell the next guy sitting down to desync me, this shouldn't even need to be said. The problem is that you legit can't desync yourself from a console, so that means someone else HAS to do it. Failure to do so causes this situation.

Ultimately it doesn't matter anyway because xinnok won that match and lost the set still.

Ok if you're gonna be a smart ass I'll give you another analogy. It's like accidentaly leaving you're car unlocked and someone steals everything inside and the police tells you "sorry breh shouldn't have left it unlocked"
You guys are pretty freaking dense with these analogies. None of them are comparable because desyncing a controller is NOT possible by the owner of that controller. It MUST be done by someone else. It is NOT the choice of the person to say "oh fuck it I don't feel like desyncing."

At the beginning when no one was used to doing this then it was harder to say who is really at fault but 2 years is plenty of time to learn to desync a damn controller. Hell, I even desync controllers when I play casuals so if you don't it's your own fault.

Sure, they should have de-synced.. but this is like saying a girl that gets raped is at fault because she was wearing a short dress.
This is nothing like that at all. You desync the previously paired controllers and there's no way for this to happen at all. An assault is unfortunate and can happen to anybody at anytime regardless of clothing.

Since the person that got off the station can't desync the controller himself (due to system limitations), it's the job of next pair of players to do so. Is he supposed to stand behind the players to remind them to do so? No. Is he supposed to not play out his next match because his controller never got desynced? No.

The rape analogy was pretty awful, but lets stop the analogies and state the obvious:

A third-party intentionally intefered with a match in progress.

I highly doubt the majority of TOs would be ok with letting someone do that with no consequences in a major tournament in this eSports world

No one was ok with it -- but if you don't have incontrovertible proof of who it was, you can't just assign blame to someone on random hearsay/rumors and ban them from a tournament a year in the future.

And at the end of the day, it should just be a lesson to the players that this is why you always desync controllers. PS4 has been a tournament standard for two years now and this is a consequence for players who are not bothering to follow the guidelines.

the guy physically put the PS4 into standby mode. It wasn't some accidental clicking of the button as the control was put into his bag or something. He physically used the controller to basically turn off the game station.

Sure, they should have de-synced.. but this is like saying a girl that gets raped is at fault because she was wearing a short dress.

I mean.. he basically rebooted the ps4? How is no one mad at him and putting all the blame on the players.
It's simple, because they could have easily prevented it by desyncing the controllers. Obviously it was a super dick move, but you do you blame the kid for acting up in public or do you blame the parents for allowing it? So many analogies and metaphors could be used, point is the next players up should have remembered to desync all controllers but their own, it's really that simple.

I personally think the "unlocked front door" was the most apt analogy until "DURR RAPE" got thrown into the pot.

Always remember to lock your doors, guys. But if you see some dude with my TV, please put him in jail. Or at least get my TV back.

Color me surprised? So boring. Also, lol at these analogies. I mean, what in the actual fuck? "Lets compare these video games to rape, murder, and theft."

Except that they gave Xinok the round he was winning, and he ended up winning that game anyway before he lost the set.

So it's kind of like someone took your stuff, then left a note that said "LOCK YOUR DOORS NEXT TIME" and put it all back the next day ;)

Oh My GOSH! Sonic won! Who would've thought he would've won..... (said absolutely nobody). Congrats Sonic for your continued dominance man.

Wound having a true main gave him such an edge over King. HQT vs Boneshaper has a lot of long range neutral and Wound used EN EX-shoulder as a work around. I think King could've used the 2 bars for his armored launcher too. Nonetheless that was still a close set and I can't to see them clash again. I wanna see King with a real main

im a bit shocked beyondtoxin was able to 3-0 destroyer! wish i had seen that match. also really wish i had seen buffalo vs wound cowboy.

beyondtoxin wins my hype award for this tourney i think his win to get to top 8 over tweedy was the most intense of the tournament and that celebration was deserved. forever king vs atai was great too. raptor vs. tweedy honorable mention. (poor tweedy gettin edged out twice).

also biohazard whyyyyyy man that was a rough one. gotta give props to wound cowboy on that incredible clutch comeback factor too.
