Lol.. This makes me scratch my head.
Someone suggests two good players play each other, and it's "nah, exhibitions are bad". But then 3 days ago "Why aren't we as big as Capcom"?
Well, here's how things go on that side of the fence. Exhibition matches happen all the time. It's not made into this huge deal of "Oh they have to have beef, and it has to be in tournament, and blah". They just play -- and they *make* it hype.
They will stick Mike Ross and K Brad or somebody on commentary, and they will make it exciting. Throw together a salty suite or whatever you need to create the atmosphere. It's all in good fun and people just want to see what will happen.
This is how it used to be in our community as well; and it's something we need to get back. All this "well if there's no pot bonus, who cares" mentality is exactly what kills the kind of outside community hype that we should be trying to build.
If anything, you get to see some good matches, and possibly even learn something (especially given that it's postpatch now).
Do you really think that if NuckleDu and Kazunoko were going to play each other for kicks the community would be like "nah breh, not hype unless it's in tournament"?
We have to get past this and just learn to make our community fun again. Not everything has to be 100% serious, all the time.
