Tekken 7 General Discussion Thread - OP Updated With All Tekken Info

Good? Bad? I'm the one with the fans
Lei falls into the same category as Yoshimitsu. You will always have that one dude in every tournament who picks them and busts out the gimmicks. From a casual and sales standpoint having Lei or Yoshi is meaningless. From a competitive perspective it's great, both characters create hype and everyone who plays them is automatically "The people's champ".
At this point, the characters that generate sales from the casual crowd are already in. Law, Bryan, Hwoarang, Kazuya, etc, etc. Why not include a character who's different from the rest even if his audience is a bit niche.

I've always liked Yoshi. First character I ever picked in T1 (of course you pick him, he's the only one with a sword!). Winning by suicide stab was the ultimate "troll win" back in the day too.

Pterodactyl

Plus on block.
Still the most hype for Gigas.

So rare to find a high level video of him where he isn't covered head to toe in obnoxious costumization accessory bullshit and neon colors.

Trust me, I'm a doctor
Lei wulong?
I played that guy.

Also I miss yoshimitsu too, but I mean eventually he had to choose soul caliber or tekken. :p

If you guys did not know already, Version H is being released on 29th November. Providing that there are no other versions, this will be the one used in the KoIF Global Finals. Here are the character changes:
【Character Balancing Changes】

AKUMA

  • Akuma's hurtbox during all his Forward, Backward Jumps and Demon Flips moves have been made larger. This adjustment will make it easier to hit an airborne Akuma with a larger amount of moves.
  • The Recovery Frames for Akuma landing after performing a jump has been increased. This adjustment will make it more easier to punish Akuma when he lands to the ground after being in an airborne state.
  • Demon Flip 1, Demon Flip 3, Demon Flip 4, Demon Flip 1+3 / 2+4 have the same adjustments made as above. (Recovery frames increased after landing.)
MASTER RAVEN

  • An unintended damage increase to the 1st hit of her b+4,4 would occur after doing a specific input. This was unintended and has now been fixed.
GIGAS

  • Specific moves that were affected when trading with Gigas' Rage Drive has been corrected. Since they weren't intentional, the behaviour of the Rage Drive has been adjusted. (FW - Gigas could cancel out certain characters Rage arts with his Rage Drive in previous versions so I think this is what this change is particularly targeting.)
  • Being able to do a Crazy Knuckle (b+2) after triggering the Earth Quake from Gigas' Rage Drive has been fixed.
Various other system related bugs have also been corrected.

Who knows what the last bit means since the bugs have not been stated. I got the information from Avoiding the Puddle.

Believe in the hop kick
One of the annoying system features in TTT2 is when someone is mashing out a 3-4 hit string and you sidestep into a sidewalk to avoid the first 2 hits, then try to punish the whiff, but the 3rd or 4th hit of that string counterhits you out of your punish attempt and the enemy is magically re-aligned towards you when you perform an attack. Had you stopped and did nothing instead of attacking the entire string would have whiffed. I know attacks have cone or sphere shaped hitboxes but sometimes when this happens it just looks like it is not supposed to happen.

How steep is the learning curve for tekken 7?
The learning curve for Tekken is extremely stiff. At some point you will want to quit the game, guaranteed. However, as the franchise stays pretty much the same from one installation to the next, your knowledge and skill will be rewarded handsomely down the road. 6-4 is as bad as it gets in terms of match-ups and even that is questionable. Whatever character you choose, you have a legitimate chance of winning. You will either need a headset and someone to beat you down and teach you their characters or an offline scene to speed up your learning process. Offline scene is not really mandatory to enjoy the game though. SCV and TTT2 had absolutely glorious netcodes, so Tekken 7 online will without a doubt be really good as well. TTT2 had online players talking smack, then showing up to tournaments and backing it up, the netcode is that good.

Much appreciated. The game looks awsome and has peaked my interest

Playing other fighters besides your mains I think are key to keeping your skills sharp, your game tight & your mind right.

You never have to be the absolute best at them but having massive amounts of experience in other fighters helps.

It's no more different in Tekken. Especially since tekken is played off of close quarters, reads, wiffs and punishes.

No fire ball spamming here.
