To older fans, Nightwing will always be Robin - but to the younger ones, he is Nightwing or even Deadman. To them, this form of social media is a competitive game. Their approach here is not much different to how most approach the game itself. Most have had their fill of validation through social media so their intentions are much more pragmatic than most. Only way to change this is through the humanization of these forums and that will only come from face-to-face interactions - and even that isn't certain to solidify their intent here.
...but you were introduced to the process before knowing Nightwing. He wasn't Nightwing first to you. Robin wasn't part of his back-story because you were there for the progression.
...but to many in the Nightwing community Robin was just a back-story.
Actually the concept of Nightwing was created by a Puerto Rican from the South Bronx, George Marvin and his mans Marv Wolfman. Most of the NW fans read the comic books religiously with different writers such as Higgins, O'Neil, Morrison(the best of them all), Robinson and now we have Seeley. We have the most knowledgeable fanbase, these are facts my guy. We've been discussing these things since 2012...and have gone to private and facebook chat to continue these discussions. We love Dick, it's been known.
Most current Nightwing fans probably don't even know who Chuck Dixon is, but his run can't be beat. Love that shirt!!
