Strategy - Cassie Cage Cassie in need of something hotfixed?

lve got to work on a new approach....with f3 being totally reactable, im having a tougher time opening people up. I started throwing alot more, but cassies throw is average at best due to the distance it puts your opponent and being neutral frames
Throwing isn't working for me either seeing that they just start running backwards. Without IA guns these matches are incredibly tough.

I made an entire post with moderate buff requests for specops, I will quote myself and leave you the link if you want to see the numbers:

Abstract will be:

A) Make "American Way" special high (to hit crouch blocking opponents) that way she can have hitconfirmables 50/50 with a gap in the middle, therefore she can spend the bar used on ex-flip on rockets.

B) Lower the negative values on Rocket's "recovery" so if its canceled out of b2,1,2,d2+4 it can be blown on read by fast reversals but not by all pokes on reaction.

About American Way:
-It's horizontal hitbox is sh**, you have to be face to face for it to hit.
-It's HIGH, it doesn't hit crouching block opponents, Add that to the fact that followups from f3 or d+f1 does't jail due to its huge startup, and you will never hit anyone who knows how to block against Spec Ops... All they have to do to block her 50/50 is block standing/crouch for f3xxAW (it covers the f3,3 alternative combo) and block crouch/standing/crouch for d+f1xxAW and American Way will always whiff!! Leaving her at -24 that's its recovery time, allowing everyone to whiff punish her.
I think the only true block strings for AW are "f4" "2,4" and "d+f1" the first low shot. There's no reason for the first two to be canceled on AW, and the third, due to its animation, can only be done in the corner.
So... what I say is to fix it to be special high, that way it will hit crouch blocking opponents, BUT NOT neutral ducking opponents. therefore if you read AW you let go block and just duck for it to whiff, backdash or armor through.
At the moment, AW is useless against people that knows how to deal with it.

I have found the solution. Use shinnok lol. I love cass but damn between the stamina changes and the f3 nerf i feel like im working disproportionately harder than my opponents to squeeze out a W with her.

Yep, HW is the only variation that feels finished or polished. I used to play brawler but I really don't like it anymore. You lose to much ie: f34, nut punch, 12u4, iag. They need to work on spec ops for sure.

If iag is universal regular nut punch should be +31 on hit to keep up with Brawler. And Cassie is probably top 5, especially with Spec Ops zoning

honestly i think iags are a shitty projectile
holly kinda relies on it because it's still better than nothing

but beside few cases and matchups iags fail to counter zoning if not for switching to a "you shoot I duck/I shoot you duck" scenario
sadly, nrs's idea of zoning is just a projectile with stupid speed and advantage that is unpunishable even on an hard read

other instant air projectiles have much better hitbox that allows small execution mistakes (kitana, kang) while iag height is unforgiving

iag spread across all variation would make brawler the best variation for sure followed by specops but Cassie would surely not be the first character with only 1 or 2 viable variations

regular nutpunch could be fine if only they'd find a solution to the height 'feature' we had before xl
beside corner, regular np is just a shitty ender

Why don't we abolish the 3-variation system and get rid of Hollywood. Just remove the spot so that there's only two variations for Cassie: Spec Ops and Brawler.

Divinding the assets

From the old Hollywood variation, Spec Ops receives the following:
- The cool ass Aviator shades
- 21U4
- Air guns (& Ex)

Brawler receives:
- F34
- Nut Punch (& Ex)

Make Cassie great again.

It just shoes how talented she is! Beats shinnok, mma fighter, great at mathematics (calculating dem missile coordinates), and social media expert (selfie fatal). She's hands down the best MK character. I love her lol.


Why give Brawler F34?

Why not just mix with F3 xx tackle or F33 all day breh.
For a little more safety when you're scared to all the way in with your mix :p. Plus if you guess right with the initial overhead you get more damage for it (18%) but give up additional mix options if you guess wrong.

Kitana, Jacqui and non Piercing Mileena zoning is similar (stronger, but similar scenario). And iag is not supposed to outzone everyone. You use it sometimes to buy some plus frame if it hits, so you can move a huge step forward. Or you can use ex air gun for a knockdownn and get in easily. It also does a lot of chip (2.5%) and build way more meter than fan or sai. Finally, try playing vs GM without iag

212 mid still whiffs, second hit of ex nut still whiffs, projectile glowkick and ex glowkick remain most useles sspecial in the game you can meterlessly mash out of b124 gap

the characters you mentioned don't lose a trade the same way iags do
and if kitana lands an iaf it's a combo from full screen, the second hit of the iags has to connect in order to stagger the opponent for the chance of not running in from full screen
also, there's barely any frame difference between their air projectiles compared to the ground ones whereas cassie's recovery is ridicolous

you know you can full combo punish if you know they are going to backdash out of b124 by just doing b12 and then b12 again when they backdash.
run in and b212 for better damage

Yes, her strategy did change. She has much less to fear offensively and in footsies. her main string that has a gap and leads to plus pressure... no more fear of getting launched. Like @Tweedy said, pay more attention to WHO sonic fox is using and not what he says. Who he is using is a pretty good gauge of the top tiers.

same as others but Cassie is without a launcher since the XL patch

never said Cassie isn't viable anymore
but since the meta has tilted a little to good projectiles it's ok to ask for one that isn't behind an execution wall and is shared across all variations, look at sektor's for example

SF is using pretty much all the cast anyways and I've yet to see him picking up again Cassie in a grand final
the occasional holly or brawler might just be matchup specific

Both of Cassie's main strings have a gap now. B2,1,2 (gap) d2+4 can also be interrupted and b2,1,2 is way too negative to bait armored interruptions. This affects spec ops the most since the delayed las overhead, on top of the pushback, was a great string to cancel into rockets.

maybe specops could use some of that necromancer tech and be able to cancel the missiles for mindgames and setups?
