Soo, how do we feel about the changes Liu got? For me, the only thing im kind of depressed about is that the b1 meta is completely gone, but happy we can zone and AA for days. I think Flamefist might be Liu's best variation now.

When i saw the nerf list i was a bit worried but after a couple of days playing he is still really good. I do miss the armor on the exwp but its not a huge loss. But the AAs with d2 are godlike. 7 frame d1 is crazy good.
Yes, Im loving the new d1, the range on it and how fast it makes it an amazing poke now.

Grandmaster beats Liu Kang. I've never even seen the match at the highest level but in theory it's kind of tough for Liu Kang.

hey guys. Im wondering if you could explain the significance of the 5 frame cancel window adjustment in the last patch? im not exactly sure how it effects flame fist or if its a nerf or buff lol feel pretty nooby. thanks for the help!
 
It's a

nerf. The defender has more time for a reversal attack
I personally feel that it's more of a nerf because it allows greater movements for backdash option selects, something that kills him due to long recovery on strings. Kano can murder his pressure upclose because of that alone in my opinion. Secondly, one thing I noticed Sylerrye would due (this is an assumption) is delay the cancel to either scout any movement or bait a button press during Liu Kang's plus frames since it may look like he dropped the cancel.

His question was about flame fist windmill punch
 
It's okay bro and yes it is. But all of flame fists options after wp stops back dashes. Well except the parry.
Thanks! Now I'm curious if fast recovery backdashes like Kano's or Kitana's can be done twice to avoid all options like you could do with Tarkatan Alien (at least that is what I thought Pig showed in his guide). The fireball and flying kick would still work I assume though.

Just a quick question, has there ever been discussion on Liu's S3 and F123? I always thought that it was weird that no one used S3 pre-patch since it jailed off of F213 and was truly +2. It now makes a frame trap with his D1, but with only one cancel I don't don't know if it's worth it now. Unlike 1 or 111 it doesn't whiff. Also, F123 is pretty good if they block it standing, they have to counter poke or jump because of the push back.
 
What's his best anti air? I'm thinking U4 but 1 seems good also

Crossups = D3 Tripguard, D2 (sometimes whiffs), F1 or S1 (Rarely work, but it's a combo)
If they jump a relatively far distance away, such as avoiding a fireball, a flying kick works well, or instant air ex fire balls.

Overall Liu is pretty weak in the crossups aside from low profiling honestly. You can't jump in on him though with that D2.

What about Kitana Jump ins with that float- whiff d2, full combo punish.

That is true, just thought it was well known enough to not mention, also why I didn't specify dive kicks or teleports either. Sometimes you just can't guarantee AA, even with buttons like Kun Jin's. With Kitana, you are better off walking back or D3 low profile, which are some of the other options I mentioned. No intention to misinform.

With Kitana, when I play Liu, I just try to frustrate with low fireballs, timing them to low profile her fans. Even if they don't connect, free meter and chip. Meter can be used to Ex Fly Kick and Exed into Bicycle Kick on reaction for a quick combo on an AA or pressure on standing. That is probably not the best way to fight her, but that is what I do. For Mournful though, I'm at a lost.
 
I don't know if this is known or not but if your are fighting Mournful, DO NOT D3 her on knockdown. Her ex kick will for some reason fly right through your character if you do any low profiling (including neutral ducking) near the start-up of the move, getting her out for free. Basically, you have to make it plain and clear you are neutral ducking since doing it on her wake-up makes the kick safe and gives her distance. Any ways to get around this?
