Street Fighter V General Discussion

People complaining about their top tier characters smh. Next we'll have some Ryu player crying about crush counter punishes on his meterless dp

The fact that you feel like R.Mikas forced to take risks on command grabs when she's +30 after a normal throw shows that I have a better understanding of how the characters works than you do.

I don't know whether it's a troll or denial from you. You were even trying to defend R.Mika pushblocking people into a vortex like that's a normal thing
I never said Mika wasn't an incredibly strong character. I just said you wouldn't do well with her because you're an incredibly weak player(mentally), it's the same reason you don't do well with any character.

As for Mika being plus 30 after her throw, she's also negative if you stand so why are you crouching on ticks? If you block her cr lk you should always stand, she can't combo off her second cr lk anyway since the only option is jab which whiffs(unless you get counter hit) so at worst you eat like 20 dmg. Learn the matchup scrub.

Fuudo uses normal throw because it's strictly safer, not both safe and as rewarding.

He understands that people look for command throws, not regular throws. Everybody respects the command grab so much that a normal throw opens them up much easier.
Well, yeah the regular throw is not as rewarding from a strictly damage standpoint, but when you calculate the risk/reward, regular throw is way ahead. 2 regular throws = 1 command grab. 1 punished command grab = about 2 command grabs. And if you are in the corner and tech a throw, you aren't out of danger. That's still in Mika's sweet spot for buttons.

all of mikas buttons are negative at tech range. And you don't wanna go for regular throw too much because like I said, you lose pressure if they know the matchup.

im at work so I can't test but I'd be willing to bet a tech in the corner is close enough to leave her negative on hit after a cr hp. That move gets too much respect.
I think it's even or +1. Kind of hard to test because it seems to hit at different times depending if they are crouch blocking or stand blocking, standing neutral or crouching neutral. Also, the corner is different spacing after the throw tech.

I'll test it when I get off. Can't really visualize the spacing the tech creates in the corner in my head. Pretty sure it's gonna be negative though, and like, a lot negative.

Also not sure if you're aware but there are actually 2 different spaces that can be created by techs. They've got different animations depending on when you tech.

I didn't know that. Could be why I'm getting mixed results. I don't think it's going to be that negative when you test it. Mika might even have to take a micro-walk forward to get the cr.HP to hit because the range is that close to being max range. It's difficult to test without a second person. I'll be going in to work now so I can't mess with it anymore.

K. Mid screen it works but it's unreliable. If they take half a step back you die. If they walk forward and block you're punishable/minus a lot.

In the corner it's 0 on block if they're crouching and whiffs if they stand block(which gets you killed). If they walk forward a step and block you're very minus.

So I wouldn't recommend it. Whiffing a 35~ frame move seems dangerous. Be better off dashing.

Usually I just throw a clap out after techs and buffer it into whip. Seems better but I might start using the tech to space rolls if I notice people like to sit still and crouch block.

It's so hard to win with Mika for me. I hear people say stuff like "oh you can play her on autopilot" etc. but damn she's hard to get good with.
thats because there's a pre-requisite to that statement assumes your at a certain level in fighting games in the first place.

the character is scrubby but if youre not, for example, already good at fighting games then naturally any character can seem like a struggle.

Yea I'm rookie and level 2 with mika. My main is Laura but I still suck with her. I'm trying to learn Laura, mika,Ryu,Ken,Ibuki. Which to me is hard because of my schedule. Not to mention im learning kitana, raiden, scorpion, and not sure if I want to take up subzero or predator.

Ps- Is that too many characters? I mean I'm awful with all of them but I'm thinking that might be too much.

yeah that's why there's what, one person in the world that's consistent with the character? So tired of people saying characters are easy because some ridiculous people make them look it.

Ryu is harder than Tokido do makes him look.

Nash is harder than infil makes him look.

Cammy is harder than xiaohai makes her look.

Mika is harder than fuudo makes her look.

Ken is harder than momochi makes him look.

90% of street fighter is your fundamental knowledge of the game and it's mechanics. The other 10% is putting that knowledge through the filter that is your character. 99.9% of players don't have enough of the first part for the second to make a difference.
