Discussion The Nerfed to "Sh*t" & "Now Useless" Stigma

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
What if the entire goal is to make Reptile more of a zoner? Random thought, but faster acid spit and ground spit would work very well with his forceballs.

Making overhead flip not combo means he couldn't easily counterzone for full combo, removing armour from claw swipe would make finally closing space against him more rewarding.

Just a potential idea out there I guess?
It could work, except Subzero J1 exists.
No more ex claw -> 10-0

Most of you know other gamers, and probably been a part of a local scene at one point or another. Did there seem to be an abundance of positive thinking when you all got together?

All I've ever heard is that, "X is broken", "This is ass", "X is now useless", "This is stupid"....so on and so forth.

The FGC is a glass half empty kinda place where everything is broken and swimming in hyperbole.

This thread has been made before hasn't it? Anyway, this subject has definitely been talked about. It's similar to the "don't overreact to characters before everything is fleshed out" but people still don't keep with that. Sadly I don't know if the "this character is unviable trash" mentality will ever stop. People are very passionate about FG's in general and if you need their character, they get upset, sometimes to absurd degrees. I'd love for this stigma to disappear but I just don't see that happening.

I wish more top players had the mentality of @YOMI REO instead of the mentality of a spoiled child. This community would be a better place overall if we didn't have to endure threads about how characters "were never allowed to live" from grown-ass man-children who can't win shit without broken, OP horseshit at their disposal.
The scum god speaks wisdom here, heed it.

No disrespect but Reo was making $ when he was playing broken Tanya but then he decided to main Jason and shit... so Yeah!

wat about Cyrax/CSZ and what about the Shit job they have done buffing Kenshi. not for lack of trying. but damn he Abysmal
Cyrax was toned down correctly, resets and unblockable set ups have no place in any game, I think they over did it with Cyber Sub. Kenshi Kenjitsu is not bad, he would be better if they tone down the top tiers, Balanced should not get better recovery on wiff or block on any special, because we dont want MK9 Kenshi braindedness to be back.

So how about the other setups like that exist? Stunt Double. Konjurer. Takeda. Tremor. They have a place in the game, they just need to be handled right.

Thats what i think. but it completely flips what I think reptile is supposed to be. I describe him as the doomsday of MKX, fast rushdown and hard to get out of your face.
Its an interesting decision to change him into a zoner/space control character. Maybe hes an example of a more zoning focused meta for MKX?

The only thing that bothers me is that popular and mainstream characters are always the center of attention in these patches, Literally every patch been released included buffs to characters like Kitana and subzero. While i have nothing against buffing said characters per se, I find the community is much larger than the sum of NRS favorite mascots.

I just find this mind set very annoying and unprofessional, How lacking characters like Kenshi and Raiden where rapidly overlooked while they kept refining popular characters to the finest details. I hope this last patch brings equal treatment for everyone or else am seriously done with this game.

I also want to point out overall reactions. Nerfs are boo'ed at, buffs welcome - this kind of attitude from players hurt the game more than anything
I think you right. Is easier to look for pure technical domination stuff wether to think hard during battle and guess the options. Nerfs are supposed to bring new strats and mindgame. But who needs that when you have brainless unavoidable setups?

Everybody is counting out the possibility that the mb claw swipe has no armor only when he's over the acid puddle?
That seems like a very improbable change, honestly.

If the speculations turn out right, then Reptile's changes make sense. Just depends on how they address him further on top of that.

The only issue with removing AA claw armor is that it drastically weakens his AA game overall, specifically vs characters that beat him, namely Sub. Who already destroys him. Depending on what they do to Sub, they might have made a really bad matchup even worse.

In what world is Raiden not a popular character? He's right behind the ninjas as one of the most recognizable faces of the franchise.

Characters should feel like they're missing something in an area or have a weakness. They're usually a fairly balanced character in most cases. (depending on the game's meta) Characters that don't feel like they're missing anything big and have every tool you could want are usually the messy top tier characters that are sometimes a mistake.
Please post this in every thread i tried to say this in the "buff high tech" thread and got told i dont know anything
