I'd agree if they comboed in

I've no idea what caused it then. Haven't had an opportunity to test it in the lab yet. Roll back maybe? Who knows...
Let me know what you find man. I've been having bad luck with the charged punch anyway. Apparently you can get counter hit on start up and counter hit as you start to actually punch after the charge, because that's been happening to me lately. I need to test that too.

Yeah, I've definitely had that happen too. It's pretty frustrating.

Thanks for posting the vid, I have been on serious tilt for the past few days. My reactions are not good especially with anti airs and other stuff it is just mentally draining.
Haha, I've been too scared to go to ranked, lol. I'm 4 points from Gold and I've been getting wrecked in Casuals, so I'm waiting for another good day. Plus work has been nuts. But man, I'm with you! Definitely a thinking player's character in this game. We just don't have "that button" or "that option" like a lot of the cast. You'll be back on top in no time bro, don't sweat it!

4 Points man, that is so close. I literally quit ranked as soon as I hit gold. I have no desire to play that mode ever again especially with the dodgy connections and stuff. Regarding my own gameplay, I think I have to work more on my reactions especially to fireballs and such and pressuring opponents to the corner.

I like to freeze during heavy rush down pressure, so my reactions to it are terrible. I do fine on offense, so I'm right there with you. I usually don't have to push people to the corner, they run from me, lol.

YO WE HAVE A ZANGIEF THREAD??

Alright guys, what the hell does Gief do against Cammy:p I barely play the game but the more I see what options the other people have compared to Gief the sadder I become

Indeed we do and welcome to it! Zangief's best weapon against Cammy is patience. She beats us in every aspect of the game but has no health. Every trade we get is a trade in our favor, and when we get a full punish Cammy gets wrecked. Watch this video!

Nice, I didn't know lariat worked so well against Dive Kick! I'll have to try that out

Here are the matches from Infexious in the online CPT event.

On youtube it has the timestamps for every match but the Gief mirror show exactly why I hate fighting that.

Here is a great match from the Online CPT tourny recently.
For those who dont know, SlayNman is a great player from Canada who has posted a lot of the tech videos for Gief.

Ok guys, got one for you. How about an invincible auto-correct on a Critical Art? Happens at 2:31.

I had to watch this like 10 times and I still dont know what is going on lol.

Edit: So he parried your Vreversal but looks like you was still in invincible frames. I get it finally. Looks awesome.

Bro, I DID it and don't know what happened, lol.
Ok so Alex did a fierce, which I V-reversaled, he cancelled into his already active trigger which my reversal hit, he phased through me, and the critical art I was buffering (was gonna let it rip anyway) came out and auto-corrected to hit him. Since the CA is 1 frame, the reversal must be invincible. Still don't know how the hell he phased through me!

Day 2 has been tough but I'm seeing some improvements which is good. I don't get angry when I lose, unlike when I play as Guile or Cammy - losing with Gief is fun because I get what I could have done better. I still mess up SPD sometimes when I really need it in tense situations and get air SPD which costs me games and therefore sets too. Feel like my execution just needs to improve and I'll be much better after that. That and optimal punishes. I'm still punishing dp's with SPD.

My neutral is pretty good but not perfect, still a SPD-whiff punishing monster that doesn't let people jump on me ever so that's what I've got going on. Matchup-wise, I'll need to lab Nash I think because I couldn't whiff punish the sythe kick thing with SPD and the only thing I could think of was try and get closer and catch him in startup but I adapted too late into the match and ultimately lost. Perhaps v skill would have helped, I think I tried it but don't remember the result. Morally I won, I could predict what he was doing pretty much the whole match but my knowledge on how to counter him was literally zero but I suppose that comes in time with more lab work and experience.
Dhalsim was a nightmare. Very difficult to deal with. Air SPD on prediction of teleport is useful. V skill works wonders but if you do it too much then that grey life builds up and you are one fireball/teleport mixup or instant oh/low mixup from undoing a lot of work that you struggled to do lol.

Also after jab SPD, I found that some charters (Ryu, Cammy etc.) that wakeup jab will whiff on Gief if he dashes up, allowing you to get a free SPD. It loses to wakeup medium buttons though since you are at a disadvantage.

If anybody has any advice or or tips or motivational Russian talk to give me the. I'm all ears. Cheers.

Ps, on mobile so it's hard to edit properly and it takes longer to type so I kept forgetting to make new paragraphs and stop run on sentences lol.

Learn to love Fierce for its armor on single hitting attacks (Nash scythe kick). After jab SPD the dash is fine but don't push buttons. Accept you lose pressure. This does not go for fierce or medium SPD. Give 'em the business! Fuck Dhalsim and Guile and Nash and Karin, those matches are terrible. On Youtube I post some matches and @JJvercetti has good ones on his channel for you to break down. Stupendous, Snake Eyes, Infexious, and Itabashi Zangief are your go to Expert players to watch. That's all for now bro! So happy to have another Zangief player!!!

Motivation: the crush counter shatter off a fully charged fierce punch, followed by a dash into fierce SPD is simply THE GREATEST THING EVER.

Also, go into training mode and pick a reversal you hate the most, like Ryu fierce DP. Set the computer up to do it as a reversal in block. Full Charge fierce it to crush counter it, then walk up headbutt into Bolshoi Russian Suplex. Then look at the damage and imagine doing it in a real match. My god, it brings tears to my eyes ;)

Its hard to punish Nash because his most of his long startup moves has less recovery like the fast sonic booms etc. For scythe you mostly will have more luck using v-skill on it, I dont think you can whiff punish it. If he is gonna be dashing in and out the mid range, try to check him with c.lp just to let him know that he is not gonna get in on you so easy. If you knock him down he is free to your meaties especially off of any SPD except light.
Remember that if you jump over booms that you can change your jump hitbox with the normals you use or even air spd to mess up with the antiair timingsI would have to probably watch your vids to get more of an idea of what you are doing (I really want to steal your stuff)

I have landed that a few times. Feel sooooooo good.

So say I'm at max range and Nash does a medium sythe then to counter that I do vskill - does this grant me an SPD or a jab or a free dash or anything?
Wait so I can get meaties off of a medium and heavy SPD? Interesting, I pretty much exclusively use light or EX. Haven't actually labbed the other two stengths :S
I'll get some videos up soon for you, I didn't want to put gameplay up because I'm just a silver and brand new to Gief so there's accidental supers and accidental SPD's and accidental jumps and what not. Plus I don't play the game to grind ranked, I like to take a looong time in each rank (you remember how long I was a bronze for...) so that I can perfect how I play against lower level styles of play and learn how to deal with every shenanigan then move onto a slightly better type of player; getting good slowly is what I call it. Not much to steal from me, my entire game is either vskill~SPD/cr.jab, air SPD, jab, cr.jab, jumping on a read of a fireball, and a lot of standing at max range of opponent then trying to grab the limbs they stick out at me. Oh and vtrigger is a way you'll see me clutch out a round at the end like on reaction to fireball or something. I lariat to make fireballs whiff aaaaaand yeah that's literally everything I do lol.

No worries man, everyone knows my feelings on ranked. I play either casual or Battle Lounge, I get the range of opponents from silver to platinum. As for the Gief tools, most matches are exactly the things you use with a few more things like knee hop into SPD, Charged Hp trolling etc.

As for the Nash stuff. It depends on what the player tends to do after the scythe, most tend to either backdash or do another one. You might get a jab punish but you will have to see what Nash will do after that to be able to make the read next time.

Feel like I don't use knee hop enough. I walk everwhere pretty much.

Ah so you can punish his options after sythe but you can't punish him for actually throwing the sythe out there, gotcha lol. Thanks man!
