It'd have to be a re-release to make it worth it. Not just backward compatible, but more like the HD remakes you see all the time.

But besides being prettier, it would more importantly have to have the new online implemented. Which I assume is near impossible since the coding was so jacked from what we've heard. But there's no way I could see myself or anyone else going back to play under weaker conditions than MKX's online.

I am never going to love MKX like I did 9. Ever. It's not even close.
I could go on with pros and cons, but it's all been said already.
It may have been a mess, but it was our mess. it was an amazing mess. it's still the most hype game NRS has ever/probably will ever produce.
Whether or not it could get a competitive resurgence, who knows.
But it stands to reason that for all the money WB/NRS has raked in over the years chugga-chooing on the MK/IGAU train that putting it back out in rotation for like $30 would pull in enough sales to make it worth the effort.
You don't even have to change anything. It would be NICE, but I personally don't really care. I just wanna be able to mash it up in MK9 again like the old days.

hell yeah! exactly!, i can play mk9 for hours and days and never tire of it, me and my bros and mates get really excited for casuals and tournaments because it was just that good and fun to learn, master, and play, i just recently watch tourney and combo vids in mk9 and i miss it so much, im planning to buy it for the pc, but yeah it would be really nice to have it available in the ps4 / xbone, we might have a resurgence or something! mk9 lives

People that say they "love" MK9, that it was the "best" NRS game, but won't play it at locals/regionals/majors, or even organize side tournaments for the game amongst other, like-minded MK9 Heads are full of shit.

Old MK9 Heads that say that it's bullshit characters were somehow less bullshit than other NRS games are full of shit.

Old MK9 Heads that say that MK9 was footsies and nothing else, where boys became men and no one ever jumped are full of shit.

Basically, Old MK9 Heads are almost always full of shit.

Well, remake assumes bug/balance fixes as well. Like maybe make Cyrax bombs not unblockable like in MKX and stuff.

The op said he just wanted a re-issue with no changes, I think xbox 360s and mk9 discs still go pretty cheap at gamestop.

The rest of you are living in a dream world where turning mk9 into a next generation game would take an hour and some spit shine.

But yes, I've never denied this is more of an "I wish" thread. No need to be a dick about it, bro.

I would love to play MK9 again, only if they fixed this goddamn online version. Tried it once and twice, but I couldn't the fuck connect to the online matches.

It's already been said before in other threads, but the coding is so awful that porting it over to the next gen consoles AND inputting GGPO netcode would be a nightmare for any developer. It's not happening.
