Well, it starts off good with the st.HK, f.HP (reset) part, but then you need a mixup or something at the cr.MP into clothesline part because they will probably just block the cr.MP and the clothesline and then punish you. See if you can turn that cr.MP into a st.HP into clothesline or something that combos at least so they have to guess between blocking and a command grab. I don't own Alex though, so you gotta do all that testing on your own.

There's no legit mixup to be had there. You're better off finishing the combo and taking your 400 damage and stun. You're sacrificing too much in the hopes that they won't block a mid on a slow reset with no cross up potential from outside of command grab range. Especially since his combos in that situation usually lead to him getting the meaty setup anyways.

ken's ex divekick op or get good?


u guise decide. my day 2 laura has zero issues dealing and her aas aren't even 3fs/invincible.
For every ex divekick you anti-aired, you got hit by or blocked one. Not to mention all the times you blocked an air tatsu or ate a crossup tatsu or jump kick.

I punished 4 ex divekicks out of 6 , one I got by punished by might as well have been a jump in. What's with the projecting? You can't aa something so it's op? does a move have to be able to be countered 100% to be fair?

Look, there is no way you are going to convince me that + on block divekicks aren't dumb. As a general gameplay device, I just don't like them. I feel it's just too powerful to give characters air approach like that.

If you look at characters in fighting games with + on block divekicks, they are usually top tier. There is a pretty strong correlation. Even in SFV, the characters with + on block divekicks all seem to be top 5. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Look, there is no way you are going to convince me that + on block divekicks aren't dumb. As a general gameplay device, I just don't like them. I feel it's just too powerful to give characters air approach like that.

Alex, Cammy, Ibuki, Vega all have airborne moves that leave them at plus frames, no top 5 for them. They all require different timings to aa or avoid, but they're all possible too aa which should've never been the argument.


It's your personal issue with divekicks but to ignore the real solutions and possibilities other players have demonstrated as proof for your bias point is the problem. You can't argue real points it just comes down to your feelings. Is it good? yes. is it free? no. can you antiair it? yes. are there options after you block it? yes. i dont see the problem, besides you dont like it so nerf or whatever

give me legitimate points in this game with this meta. Top 5 characters have 3f moves too... 3f moves broken???

Agree completely. Its not the ex dive that makes Ken good. Its all the options he has, PLUS his divekick which makes you having to focus on that too. You can't just mindlessly spam it. I can AA it with Ibuki pretty consistently with her cr.HP, which is 12f of startup....

Sorry @The Slaj Jazz my stick is still not working I will have to take the bitch apart and see whats up with it. After tonight I have the next 3 nights off and should have everything sorted by then and hopefully we can get some more games in.

both of those characters being top 5 is debatable. You've got Ryu, Karin, Nash, chun, and Necalli that could easily be someone's top 5.

I still can't believe Capcom can bring out characters that are basically unplayable for the first year. What in earth could they be scared of giving a character when they've already made Chun-Li and Ryu

both of those characters being top 5 is debatable. You've got Ryu, Karin, Nash, chun, and Necalli that could easily be someone's top 5.
Yeah, it's debatable for sure. Let's not forget that Necalli has a divekick too. I think Cammy is still a bit underrated and underused in tournament.

How do they not funnction in the same way? Ken's ex divekick and Alex's or Vega's or Ibuki's or Bison's both are air specials that alter alter there jump arc to move thmselves quickly and are harder to aa and they're all plus on block. please dont say its because they don't use to their foot to hit you. What's the BS besides they don't prove your point? Not to mention I forgot Sim and Rashid's divekick.

necallis divekick is mediocre at best. Cammy is good, but she doesn't have any serious dirt and having 900 hp is too dangerous in a game where characters can easily confirm into 500+ dmg when fully stocked. She's solid, but she's not overwhelming.
