General/Other - Quan Chi Quan Chi's Name Origin

It's been something I have thought about for a long time. Mostly because all of the other characters in the game have relevant names and what have you. Such as Noob Saibot is Tobias Boon, Sub Zero does infact freeze people instantly and the list goes on with fun easter eggs. Although some of them are obvious of course. I never really found out what Quan Chi's name was based off of. Like I had no clue I knew it had to be something to do with life force and google results confirmed it to be pretty much accepted as such.

I have a new theory after watching X-Files on Netflix and I heard of something called Kuang-Shi. The spelling is courtesy of closed captioning. It is quite literally pronounced how english speakers pronounce Quan Chi.

More searching around got me the actual spelling of it. Here's the wiki. Hope somebody else finds it interesting. I just love me some Quan.

Side note: Everyone struggling with the Quan matchup might need some chicken's blood, paper, and a bag of rice... Also this youtube video is fun.

Man I once thought Quan Chi was a homage to Rich Homie Quan but then I remembered Rich Homie Quan wasn't relevant yet and still isn't as the only guy worse than Homie Quan is Soulja Boy

I still believe they are more shallow than this and they just put the words from "tai chi quan" (or some other form of chinese art because many of them end in "quan" as it means "fist") in an order they liked hearing

Ya I didn't go to bed like I should have. I did watch some Jiangshi youtube stuff though. I mean he is pale and controls people. He is also of undead origin the shoe does fit. But, ya a lot of the names in MK are pretty obvious and shallow. I think Quan's might... I hate to say it, pretty clever.

Long ago Quan Chi tore open a portal in time creating Samurai Jack, also known as Kenshi.

Quan Chi is really an Ori preacher.
