I'm here to ask how different Quan is from last year. MKXL is currently installing onto my PS4, and I want to be prepared to know how certain matchups will pan out that depended his damage/setups. Please keep in mind I only play Warlock. Thank you !

summoner quan is no longer a +on block 50/50 vortexing machine. Sorceror only gets armor spell off of knockdowns instead of normal trance now. But now he has a spell that drains meter everytime you connect with a special. Warlock is pretty much the same as its always been.

 if Quan could speak he would be happy. While I haven't played the character myself from what I see warlock is the most all-around variation, so just by counting on your fundamentals will help more than learning which situations and hard knockdowns set up armor circle in sorcerer or summoner gimmicks.

If you want to study though, I would suggest checking combos, restand situations and such. You were the founder of the pseudo reset in mk9 after all

Your hole is mine!
how is he plus on block still? ex skull? that doesnt jail tho aside from f212 or 14 does it? i know you can end b324 with strait bat to eliminate any chance to punish, but does it really leave him plus?
If you have bat out you can blow up any armor attempts through skull and bat works like MbRune, the more you delay it te more plus frames you get but will end up creating a gap.

but if they don't block and you release the bat you won't recover in time to combo anyways.
In the corner you will. Midscreen you won't but even so ExSkull sends them full screen on hit for more zoning.

Midscreen he's not that bad anymore but in the corner he's still exactly the same as pre patch. 50/50s, plus frames and high damage coming out his arse.

Hey everyone! Thank you for the tips so far, and the accepting me back!!

So far, I'm having a lot of fun with the game, but I'm struggling with slowing down the pace of the match, as I'm not used to how fast it's played yet. I'll be playing a lot with Hayate to get more comfortable with faster speed, but are there any tips to how Quan should play fast? I'm used to punishing run ins with d3, but I feel like there's much stronger meterless ways to punish them. Would f2122 be good, or should I do simple 14/3 punishes??

Quan will always be number 1 in my heart. But I was completely turned off the the character in MKX after the change to the MB rune.

Try stopping runs with b1 and d4. Works better than you'd think. Mid rune doesn't hurt either for this.

Sometimes, I use Scoop at b2 range. Since they're looking for the overhead, they almost never block it.

Also, f212 is -1. So if you read a button, armor. Once they respect that, start using b2.
