How to fix the lag issues?

My PSN is connected through wifi, are you guys saying it's better to be wired? How doesn't the Internet cable connect to your modem only?

Jynks, I never knew those valuable information. I'll ask around about gamer router and stuff to make my ping higher as possible.

Thanks for this.

Please don't buy a gamer router...don't fall for the gimmicks.

Instead use the money to buy a reputable 802.11AC router with QoS support.

Forward ports and use a wifi analyzer to connect to a channel that has the least congestion (do some research on this, some channels are illegal to be on!)

If you are close your router use the 5ghz frequency else stick with 2.4ghz. 802.11 AC routers support both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz band.

QoS allows you to prioritize bandwidth to devices.

Have you heard of powerline adapters? If your house wiring isn't shit, powerline adapters provide the same "performance" as a wired connection. You could look into this. It's cheap as well, you can get a set for like 50-80 bucks. You just connect the adapter to a power outlet and run a Ethernet from the adapter to your ps4.

Ps4 has a garbage NiC to begin with as well.

@21122 , very interesting.

Yep, I heard about them a while ago. Suppose if I connect a PA with my PS4, will this PA catch the Wi-Fi's signal?

When the time is right, I'll move on with the settings to fix everything here. I'll be back in this thread.

power line lan is not even remotely as good as proper lan cables.. that is just lies.

upload and download is a bottle neck but what you really need to look at is "ping". Like bandwidth speed affects ping, but other things can affect it much more.. like for example how far your house is away form the exchange and stuff completely out of your hands. There are ways ISPs can handle your connection that will actually increase your ping but lower your raw download speed.,.. so ask them if they have some kind of "gamer" setting that they can switch your account to that will help with the ping.

Also as everyone has said you need wired.. that is like the very first thing you should do and it is an easy fix. Also, not all cords are created equal. In the same way you can buy really expensive cables for audio and video equipment, you can for network cables. So have a look at that. You want a high quality cable, this means less noise on it, less packet loss etc etc and fast ping.

Finally if you really want to go all out there are actual GAMER ROUTERS nowadays. These are routers that basically only allow data from certain geographical locations to connect to you. Basically it means you can force only localish connections. So no random 300pings and only ever get people under 10 or so.
High end cables are 99% gimmicks lol. There is no difference between a $5 HDMI vs a $200 super gold rated platinum monster HDMI cable for example. Same with diamond plated binned audio cables lol, oh god.

And no...don't go buying the "highest" network cable. cat5/cat5e is enough.
power line lan is not even remotely as good as proper lan cables.. that is just lies.
No it's not.... I run wired downstairs and powerline I'm my room.

It seems that I'll need a similar one like this --> ASUS DSL-AC52U DUAL BAND 802.11AC WI-FI ADSL/VDSL MODEM ROUTER . It's so far the best, but it's out of stock here in Greece. Any suggestions? I'll need a ADSL and 802.11AC type modem to do the trick. Then, I'll do the portforwardings and stuff, and I'm done.

My PS4 connection is completed. Now it has the same connectivity like the PC does.

Now the problem is to lower as much as possible the ping below 10ms. What everybody missed is to ask your provider to switch your connection from the interleave to fast path. This is what I investigated further.

Recommended stuff to have a fast connection are those:

A) Find a modem of your liking that has high traffic connection that has 1GB+ in both Upload and Download speed. This same modem, also, needs to have the ADSL and 802.11ac types to have a very good connection speed.
B) Ask your provider to rise your connection to Fast Path. You need it to lower the ping amount to lower than 10ms. Very important for fighting games.
C) Port-forward your PS4 into certain doors to help PS4 to get a fast connection in the internet and stuff. When completed, make sure that the priorities will have the PS4 to the highest rule, while the other stuff (PC, torrent, etc) just to the high.

And you're set to go.

Forgot to ask you this. For the fighting games, do the DL/UP speed matter? I know that the Download speed does matter, but the Upload? If I fix things here, I might help my mates with their own connection issues to make the streaming for both sides better.

What should I ask to the technician just in case?
Tanno, you know when your in mid match and your ping in lower middle sky rockets, or spikes up ward past 200ms. well thats WIFI either you or opponent, i have tested with friends and every time they use WIFI and not Wired i get that ping spike in game. I always use Wired, WIFI can Fluctuate and Wired should stay solid speed the entire time. another thing thats kind of obvious is turn off all Phone updates and communication from internet and Devices like Printers, Tablets and so on.

Other than that there should only be things that have to do with your provider and router, and what i explained should be the easiest way to fix the problem or at least fix most matches you have, there is still alot of players that use WIFI and you will run into them.

I know me myself unless they are a friend on TYM or friends list, if i get ping spikes from them, i leave and move on to the next opponent.

And for the Download and Upload speeds as long as they are above 3mbps Download and .75 upload you should be fine on MKXL on PC/XB1/PS4. On my Xbox it optimizes everything for me so i don't have to set any special settings. you shouldnt have to talk to your provider unless you want to upgrade to like 20/20mbps or sumshit. but what i said should help your connection get better when you play Wired People only. good luck

I have experience from the match with OmegaK. When we played he was wireless, and I was wired in PC, the odd spike was from his side at the last match, for he explained me that it was because he borrowed the Wi-Fi from next house.

My connection is 11MB DL and exactly 0,75MB UL. I want to upgrade it a bit to have a stable match all the way. I don't want to fall upon some dudes having Wi-Fi connections fucking up my MUs.

I'm done with the settings here. What's left is to ask for the Fast Path to lower the ping. Currently, I have 16-25ms, which is NOT good. Lower than 10ms is best. Thanks to this, I tend to close everything, including the Wi-Fi. My Asus DSL-AC52U has the option to manually close the Wi-Fi connection, so no need to fret about the mobile connection. If I want to play any game in mobile, I simply need to re-open the Wi-Fi. ;)

This Asus DSL-AC52U is a ADSL modem with 802.11ac type, which is the best modem. You need to find an ADSL modem with 802.11ac to have the best connection.

yeah so you know you have suffecient Internet for Mortal Kombat X, i know many Techy nerds will say upgrade, but i have an average from 60ms-200ms online MKXL. and thats fine for me, when i have a ping spike usually at night the servers are worse and ill get some pretty laggy matches that are from 200-1000+ and thats cuz the server is bogged or they using WIFI.

i played Kindred on here and it was around 100-200ms not the best but playable. think about it, 16.7ms is one Frame of lag on a 60FPS game like MKXL. so divide 200-300 by 16.7 and you will know how many frames of lag there is. whats cool that many don't understand on MKX is its kinda like GGPO, so when you have LAg it still inputs all your controllers commands, you are just seeing things 4-7 frames later on 200-300ms connection, even though we see it late, it still does the move.

but since it Rolls back, the Online system kinda adjust to the amount of lag you are having thats constant like if its always 200ms it basically fixes it in real time. i don't know everything about it, but what im saying is, i can pull off the combos in the lag even though it freezes which is awesome, Day one MKX was horrible and when you laged the same amount there was no hope of completing any combo online. now its different.

Bottom line your internet is fine and you should not have to upgrade unless multiple people are youing your interent at same time. if you Wire it, it will turn those matches that you go from 60ms to 200ms to a possible solid 100ms to 200ms the entire match, and that is good. you can adapt to that kind of lag. and still play some good matches.

id Say the optimal connection from one side of a country to another is 60ms and thats about as good as it gets. at least here in USA.

Im not sure if me and you would be able to play, i here people saying Region lock alot, but then i play some members from Germany and Russia and Europe. so maybe Xbox One is not Region Locked. i don't know if PS4 is or not. maybe if it was thats a good thing.

Also i don't think XB1 or PS4 is better than the other, as you may know i had MKXL on PC, PS4 and XB1 now i just have it on Xbox one. only reson i gave up Playstation this time is cuz i have nephews and the Controller is made out of cheap plastic so the triggers would not hold up. but other than that i prefer the Playstation Layout on the XMB screen and the software seems to be easy to navigate and i liked how you can upload to Youtube on PS4.

on Xbox One you have to do a whole bunch of dumb shit to upload videos, first it goes from your Xbox to a cloud service called your Upload Studio unique to your XB1 Login name. and then you have to upload that to One Drive from upload Studio, then you download from One Drive on computer to your PC and then upload that video to YouTube.

I have
XB1 because of the Controllers, the D-Pads are worse than PS4 since PS4 is light to touch and works and XB1 is Stiff, But the XB1 controllers are made out of Very Strong Plastic and are very Durable. and imo better built and Layed out, The controller is built for customization, and allows for Faceplate to be Removed easily without buttons falling out, so you can Personalize the Controllers without hassle or Faults with Controller.

Kind of BS and it makes it worse that TYM does not have an Automatic Embed feature for OneDrive videos, that would be Dope maybe even TYM could allow UploadStudio videos and OneDrive videos to be embedded? then us XB1 gamers would not have to jump through hoops to upload a video on TYM i have to wait 5 min or longer for each damn step in the scenario i described. @STORMS , @CrimsonShadow @Alien Substance

My rant about why you should get PC

Anyways i suggest you get PC version when it comes out i seems like it will be very good, and it only costs half the amount on Steam than XB1/PS4 does. they always discount it on PC. PC has always been the Cheap version, you buy a Hella Expensive Gaming Rig then save money in long run on Games. and only on PC can you Mod and play with characters that others can't maybe even go patch patches on Practice for fun. thats whats cool about PC and it will always have better Graphics than the consoles. unless they start utilizing Technology in Systems.

About the region lock, I can confirm it. I tried to play with @Jeffrey Wolf (US) to try my new connection, but instead of the "Join" button, it shows the "View Mortal Kombat X" ones. I had to test this with @colby4898 (UK) and the "Join" button popped up. Therefore, it's indeed region locked due of the servers. I don't know if it's applied with the PC, but I plan to try it in PC to see if it's from NRS servers that it's region locked.

I see. That explains the PS4 drop from you. A tip: You should buy an alternate controller that ONLY YOU can use, and not your nephews. This way you should be fine to play the PS4 with us. ;)

I feel you. I tried the X1 controller in eGaming event. I didn't like it, because it doesn't fit me due of its layout, however, I like its plastic type. Sony ought to get this one very plastic for her controllers. I don't even feel my hands wet there.

I feel you. I got the PC version cheaper than Steam's price. I got it for $10, thanks to @karaokelove . I still got the MKXL Beta and I played with some of the good players. I'm still rusty, but with some training I'll get used to it. I'm trying to find some apps to support the unofficial PS3 controllers and the official PS4 controller, so that I can play them in Steam. Do you know any?

no i use XB1 controller on My Alienware its Plug n Play just USB and ready to go.
but with the PS4 my Controller was also Breaking on the right Trigger/R2. and it pissed me off so much shipping controllers that i bought XB1 maybe its a me problem as well, but for me i just made the switch kind of weird for me cuz ive always been a PS guy.

but i think there might be a program called MotionJoy and then i think there is the Brook Converters maybe they have one for PC, its a thumbstick that converts bluetooth signals for like 360 to PS3 and so on even have one for XB1/PS4 and that sort of thing, they may have PC version so check those out: Brook Converters

i kinda got used to the XB1 controllers and now that i Mod them and paint with Airbrush to customize them, i like the XB1 more, those are built for customization. The faceplate has 5 screws that hold it on, take them off and it comes right off without buttons coming out, they are still held in place tight, and the front and sides come off without a problem, you can paint the front and sides without any problems, and the Controller is still under warranty, according to Xbox one and a few places i get them from. but if you take off the back i think your fucked. but yeah i Airbrush mine, i am making mine Lin Kuei with Cyrax Net White Green and Yellow. its gonna look sick.

something like this freehand i did with Gimp:

cept on my controller the lin kuei symbol i pasted off a pic i found on web, and made the background and rehighlighted the symbol, that symbol looks sick and i didnt want to freehand it and make it look goofy

I ran a wire long ago and found that this was the answer. Later, I found that my wires were outdated - so I ran the new wires right along the old ones. Its a pain, but it was worth it.
What do you mean out dated
