Official Pokemon Go Thread (Beginner Tips inside)

Alright RyRy

Florida Kombat
Nice I just reached 17 but I don't have a lineup like that yet. Took yesterday off but will hop out there again today. Working on evolving and getting stronger pokemon before I start my gym runs again.
Yeah, wait on gyms until you have a group of friends to go take down gyms then boost it up once you take it.

Yea snorlax and vaporeon have high hp
Snorlax on the other hand ranks up like +45 everytime
I think drogonite hits the hardest if im not mistaken. Not including the legendarys of course

My friend plays this game in his mobile. He showed it to me 2 days ago. I don't know its gameplay, but I no longer play the Pokemon. Got bored of playing the same story there.

IMO, top tier Pokemon is Gyarados.

Anyone got any tips on how exactly you maximize your pokemons CP?

When I finally get the pokemon I want I wanna make them super sick for when battling becomes more of a thing. Im aware STAB still exists in GO and what moves they learn etc, just dont wanna put all those resources into a pokemon that could be a few points higher if I can help it.

Not really any way to maximize aside from leveling, BUT

A good piece of advice is not to evolve anything that has less than 2200 base upgrade value. If you can find a 2500, even better, but those upgrade costs determine how high on the CP curve your pokemon is. Also keep in mind certain pokemon have better growth rates than others, and a low CP doesn't mean a low power.

Chansey has a low CP (I think for level 20 it maximizes out at 235) but it's easily top tier because of it's massive HP totals.

Also aim for faster attacks with bigger impact specials. Water gun + Hydro pump is a good example, whereas something like say Ice Shard + Aqua Jet is a waste of time.

Bulky waters are king right now, followed by bulky normals and grass. Avoid electric types right now except for something like Spark + Thunderbolt Magneton because of his great typing.

Even with vaporeons running rampant?

Here's a link to a tier list based on CP per level as well as separate tier lists for attacking/defending gyms for anyone interested - https://rankedboost.com/pokemon-go/tier-list/

That list is top tier in of itself. I'm glad to see I was powering up the right way but I do got a question for anyone.

Can I maxout my stardust? I keep catching them but I'm not getting anymore stardust. If it helps I'm at lvl 16.

I have a steady flow of stardust coming in for holding down the neighborhood gym right now.

Here's my list so far, but I've been slacking on my cp gain lately.

lmfao Your names are genius. Absolute genius.

Niantic needs to fix the distance from Pokemon shit already. Not knowing if you're heading in the right direction for a Pokemon you don't have is ridiculous. They should have fixed it immediately considering IT'S INTEGRAL TO THE ENTIRE EFFIN' GAME.

Thank you! I've missed out on a Seadra, Rapidash, Ivysaur, and Gengar because of this. And Gengar is my absolute favorite, so I was livid.

So I should do more gym battles is what your saying? I'll go give it a shot. Where I live everyone here is around levels 21-30 so I thought I would wait till I reached around 21 or so.

I'm gonna need A LOT of revives:(

I stocked up hardcore before I started battling. Honestly, the main reason I like doing gyms is the daily bonus. It's the only way in the game to score Pokecoins without a microtransaction. For each pokemon in the gym you receive 500 stardust and 10 coins.

Try Pokevision.com in the meantime until the steps are fixed. It shows almost all the pokemon in your immediate location, or any location you set it to. I usually walk around until something I want pops up on my nearby and then I go on pokevision.

Well in my case, the gym leader has a hella strong dragonite followed by an arcanite, vaporeon, and my snorlax
