Question - Aftershock Instant Air Quake

Hey Tremor Mains,

I don't know about you guys, but I really enjoy Aftershock in casuals still, and was curious about one thing.

How the hell do you do instant air quakes on pad?? @God Confirm seems to have found a brilliant method for those of you who use a fight stick, but I'm over here on my DS4, and it seems impossible.

Anyone find anything similar to the bu-df shortcut for instant air moves that require bf inputs for specials?? Or is a deal with the robot devil the only way I'll ever play AS at the highest level?

Hit up, slide down, tap down+button. Or at least that's how I do it on the XBone controller. It's really about speed more than anything, so I practiced them by doing air specials, and getting them progressively lower. After I found my rhythm for doing it like an inch off the ground I just practiced getting that consistent.

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
From what I'm gathering here, there is no short cut. I'm just going to have to git gud. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll practice the shit out of it and see if I can figure it out.
yeah , my trick works due to the nature of it being a stick. I don't know if its possible for pad.

what i do when performing IA's but having the same concept with tremor is you don't want to position your thumb at the end of the directional button but rather more in the middle making that you don't even have to move your thumb to do the input but rather roll your thumb. hope this makes sense, but that's how i get IA's out as fast as possible, still not succeeding 100% of the time so consistant practice makes up a big part too. good luck

I actually go more towards the edge, I find I wind up more accurate with my inputs at speed that way. At least this manner works better for Liu's IAFB, or IA Kano ball.

also wanted to add to make it crystal clear about needing practice is that i've noticed it doesn't work like say riding a bike where you'll never forget how once you've masterd it. When i practice IA's for a couple of days increasing the consistancy in performing them, taking a break after it will get you rusty real quick. As for me (and supposingly you too) playing mileena mostly, i have enough from knowing a little trick and knowing the motion for i use air say situationally at best, but a liu kang player for example really wants to keep performing them and on a consistant base for he even has combos using AI's. nuff said,

On DS4, flick up on the left analog stick with your right thumb then double tap dd with your left hand and press square with the right index finger.

Essentially when you want to do an instant air quake, quickly reposition your right hand (holding the bulk of the controller in your left hand) just for the manoeuvre. You have more than enough time to reposition your hand correctly as the input comes out. It's similar to how imposter Shinnok's do ia teleports. It requires practice and may feel awkward at first, but it's much easier and more consistent than pressing up then dd1 on the dpad.

Man do you guys actually play like with sliding the right thumb on the control pad? Do you EX it like that? It definitely works for speedy air quakes but I can't get over the awkwardness of it.
