How would the addition of a Kombat Pack 3 Work?

I don't even know...
Mortal Kombat XL is the complete version of the game. No doubt about it. But with Boon teasing at a Kombat Pack 3, how would that work?

Would Kombat Pack 3 be for free? Seeing as Mortal Kombat XL has all of the skins and characters, would adding a KP3 be given to anyone who bought Mortal Kombat XL as a separate game be for free, and anyone who just recieved the XL update have to pay for it?

This has always confused me when discussions about Kombat Pack 3 begin. What are you thoughts guys?

MKXL had all the content up until the day it was released included. It didn't promise to have all MKX content ever made. People who didn't preorder didn't get the Cosplay pack.
I pre-ordered KP2 and got the cosplay skins. So what you're saying is...

MKXXL? :p I'm kidding. You make a good point though.

thats an interesting point, because mkxl has been described as the complete edition

I give my guarantee (disclaimer: completely worthless as im not on the warner brothers payroll) that its not gonna be free though. haha
We can dream. Dream the KP3 may be free if it exist :p

I'll be upset if XL pack people get KP3 free just because I will have to pay more than XL pack people for no reason. I payed MORE than XL pack buyers by getting them separately and it would be VERY irritating to have to pay even more while they get it free.

Why is it any more "complete" than at any other time? I'm not sure I understand what you mean in this thread... adding new characters + a balance patch then probably a 2econd final balance patch dosn't seam to be a logistical issue of any kind.

All the original MKx users got the netcode update for free, which technically is what XL is. So only having KP1 and KP3 shouldn't be an issue.

where on mkxl box does it mention "complete" edition?

mk9: komplete edition
igau: ultimate edition.
mkxl

they didn't do that by mistake ;)
but if there is a kp3 hope they go the kp2 route and release all chars at same time, anyway sure alot of us be looking forward to the patch more than the new chars lol

I hope they do KP3, there are characters I want characters that are not in MKXL. I want Noob Saiboot and I ain't waiting for next instalment of MK to play as Noob.

As others have already said, there's no indication that MKXL is the "complete" edition. It just allowed everyone to have all of the content from day 1 up until MKXL's release.

I'd be really surprised if they don't do a Kombat Pack 3. Folks are clamoring for it and I'm sure NRS/Warner Brothers would continue to line their pockets with money if they made one.

If only that were true.
It is...

Even if you didn't buy XL or KP2, you still got the netcode change. It was universally applied to everyone via the compatibility patch that you had to download.

Now, if you're referring to PC, then you're correct. If not, refer to the above. =P

Expansion pack style, in my opinion.
"ULTIMATE" Mortal Kombat XL or something to that effect, perhaps.
- Story mode continued.
- At least one more skin for every character, maybe.
- At least four more characters, possibly.
- Hopefully upcoming balance patches.
- Additional game modes such as tag mode, perhaps.

According to my experience they may profit from MKX yet, but they need to progress and then look back at it later, and then run several titles simultaneously. The "gear system" in i2 suggests that they may be aiming for game longevity, finally. I may just be too hopeful. I probably am.

I am indeed referring to the PC version. We are original users as well, and did not get the netcode update for free or at all.

It'll be hard for NRS to justify this for the non-competitive crowd. To them (and me quite frankly), MKXL was supposed to be the complete package where you get all the characters.

Sure it's not concretely said that XL is the version of MKX with all of the DLC that will ever come out, in trailers and descriptions of it it's described as "the ultimate Mortal Kombat X experience". It might as well concretely say that XL is the full package. I mean the name itself already signifies that this basically is the full MKX package.

I'd like new characters just as much as the next person, but while we on TYM may be able to stand for it, casual players who bought XL and treat it as a game of the year edition (which it practically is), will feel screwed over because in the end it turns out they didn't actually get the full package.

It was/is the complete package at the time of its release. Due to proper choice of wording, they left room to add whatever they want to it and can say they never advertised it as the "Komplete/Ultimate Edition" or the likes.

Indeed, as a company they can basically say that they've never stated that, just that it's an edition of MKX with KP1 and 2.

But honestly, I don't think any of us really expected XL to not be the full package.

It's actually casuals who buy DLC and support the game long term. As long as it is DLC and not a new disc which makes your previous disc obsolete they will buy it.
