I hope the gear system isn't like the SFxT gems system or say goodbye to the competitive scene. I really hope we will see some gameplay next week!

Wow....jaw drops. This game will officially blow every other customizable fighter out of the water. I mean we've had a few right? But this....lol this shit is on a whole other level.

I also love how everyone took a page out of Batmans book with battle suits. I love it. Also I'd that Bryan crastons voice?

Reverse flash is coming I can feel it...and if he's not in it, I'm making my own.:)

The gear system is something to worry about and potentially could be a great thing or an incredibly bad thing.

But I'm positive and I hope it will be something like variation system that enhance only one aspect of the character beside other and maybe it can be used only for a limited time (like a trait or something like Killer Instinct instinct mode).
So, for Superman, for example, a gear can boost is damage, give him better zoning with is laser, add damage during freeze or give him better air mobility.
This can be hard to balance but without OP properties and with some limitation, it potentially be a really good thing that add strategy and variety to every match.

And I'm pretty sure that will end with everyone choosing the most powerful gear for their main with no real experimentation! :'(

Regarding the Diablo/Borderlands style loot system, it honestly sounds like shit to me. Not very conducive to a pick-up-and-play experience, but I understand they're trying to innovate.

Two conditions must be met to make this work:

1) items must not be very powerful--maybe they improve performance by up to 5% or something... otherwise it's just cheap and not reflective of actual skill, but the gear grind.

2) there must be a barebones mode with gear disabled.

Not going to damn the gear system yet, I'm just highly skeptical of it.

"There are thousands and thousands of pieces for, let's say, the Flash," he says. "You are in the constant process of making your version of the Flash."

Thousands? WTF is this shit?
I'm assuming they mean thousands--as in Diablo loot. One shoulder has +3% Movement Speed and another one has like +3.5%... technically they are different. No way they will all have unique properties.

I mean it's pretty obvious that there are going to be Gearless modes for tournaments and ranked. It'll probably be like Tag from MK9 where the whacky shit and the serious shit are separated. Sounds new and interesting though.

Also Captain Cold and Supergirl?

He's probably exaggerating a bit.

I imagine there will be multiple pieces of equipment you can wear. They will all have slightly different stats such as:

+1 health
+2 strength
+1 stamina
+48 charisma

And there will be several different variations on this where each number will be tweaked slightly.

There will probably be hundreds of variations of commonly occuring armor, rare armors, epic items, and legendary items...or some other dumb names for better, more rare gear.

The real question I have is; Will there be pieces of gear that give you new moves, or change frame data on moves you already have?

I think Doomsday will look awesome with all the biological gear since his powers are pretty much 'evolve or die.'

If he's in it, of course. :DOGE

You know, I very much doubt any gear bonuses will be applied for player vs player stuff. It's probably for against the AI. But it might be for player vs player as well. We'll see.

There may be different online modes that either allow or restrict the aforementioned. I'm not too worried about it because it's common sense that if you add pay-to-win microtransactions into something like this, you're gonna get fucked. Hard. It's a fighting game, so that kinda stuff doesn't belong here.

Sure, there are gonna be people out there who will be frothing at the mouth to pay for this so they can get easy wins, but there will be a massive, massive outcry from those who are against it and I'm sure there's more against it than for it.

Would these upgrades max out at some point?

This system seems complex for a competitive fighter.

Seems like this system would reward character loyalists. I always play half the roster and can never settle with a main.

I just don't know how I feel about this

Guys let's just relax a little bit on the gear stuff.

With them talking about it in early stages, and with ESL finals and E3 coming up in less than a week, obviously we are going to see gameplay about it.

I'm not too hype about it either but I'm going to wait til the gameplay to see if they got it right so far.
