Trying to get a feel from the Kommunity about something I have had in mind for a long time.

How would the Kommunity feel about MKX having a variation switch feature mid match?

With this meter, once it is filled, you can switch your variation mid match, although you can choose what variation you want to start the match with.

You could build it traditionally but either taking damage or blocking attacks.

There could be other features, such as spending a bar of meter to help fill the variation bar quicker, or cashing out the variation meter once it is full to gain a bar of meter. It could work similarly to Kotal Kahn's Sun God variation.

Please vote to get a feel for this idea. Nothing will happen as a result, but I feel we are all well enough versed on the game to handle this feature if it ever came into play.

And also, I look forward to the discussion.

Noob's saibot or noob saibot's?
i like and dislike this idea, if both players were honest and of equal skill it could be godlike but there would just be too much abuse going on i feel, game would be a worse counterpick fest than it all ready is

Im sure it could possibly have problems, but the game already has them anyway.

nah i don't so, depending on how it works you could it multiple times in a match (think about how often you can get an x-ray?), I think tournaments should allow winners to switch variations but that's about as close as you can get to this idea with fucking up the game anymore.

I'm not surprised, motherfuckers
i dont like it, gives characters with variations that cover match ups v differently an unfair advantage.

eg, deceptive vs cryomancer isnt bad for reptile, but if the sub player can switch to grandmaster mid match its a whole different ball game

I don't like this idea. I'm kind of hoping tournaments go to a format that allows winners to change variations after the loser selects their new character. So I sort of see what you're saying but I just can't imagine/want it to happen midmatch.
this is stupid, so the counter picker gets counter picked

It's an interesting and unique idea. But I'd rather just have a complete character that uses everything without needing meter to switch.

the fact that "counterpicking" is even a recognized term AT ALL reveals imbalance. You wouldn't need to switch from a chosen variation if the game was balanced well enough for the matchups to all be fair.

IMO it would be interesting if it were more along the lines of Deception or DA but right with so much nonsense I don't think it would work out so well. Stance switch combos is love. Part of why I was a NW loyalist in Injustice.

You'd need some unique inputs so that you could be sure people didn't switch on accident too. Maybe just make the stance switch button do it. like, "oh F I messed up my input now I'm stuck with an entire character I don't want to use GG."

I dunno. Sounds like a test your luck addition.

How would the transition work? just like, instant with no direct impact to what's happening in the match? a pause? I think it would work most effectively if you got to choose between rounds. Otherwise you'd end up with people doing combos across multiple variations and stuff, or switching in the middle of your opponent attacking to throw them off, etc.

Lmaooooo that sentence kills me. A game where every single character is completely balanced against every other character is not only impractical to imagine with multiple characters, but would also be extremely dull to watch. If you want perfect game balance, go play Karate Champ and tell me how interesting it is to watch.

Well, if this game built balanced in a real sense (at least it's my opinion), that idea would work but I would say nuh uh when I think current situation of the game.

Irony : I voted yes.

HELL NAH HELL NAH HELL NAH WTF HELL NAH

This seems extremely difficult to balance. Variations would be balanced according to players being able to switch mid-match instead of separate characters that you have to use for a whole match. This would likely mean that most characters' variatoons wouldn't be good by themselves, only the combination of two variations in the whole match would be (assuming several balancing patches have already come out).

Good? Bad? I'm the one with the fans
Are they going to take the time to switch outfits mid-match too?

*ensuing battle between Kitana and Erron Black*

Erron Black: "You know, this isn't working for me."

Kitana: "Yeah, me either."

*Kitana puts on mask*

*Erron Black puts on hat*

Erron Black: "Wardrobe change complete. Let's go!"

Joking aside, being able to switch variations mid-match defeats the purpose of variations in the first place. You could just merge them together and call it a day.
