Road to Grand Finals
Again, this week was business as usual for ATP, Vibu and Henzzar. However there was a returning fighter that we only saw once before, 5 or so months ago, Blujay512; who shook the bracket with his Shirai Ryu Takeda. He whipped every one in his path to secure a spot in Loser's Semis. Meanwhile, Reign put up an impressive fight against Vibu; nearly sending him to Losers. And TheDarkSilence and DaZengie gave us the hypest set of the night. TheDarkSilence is known for his oppressive Pyro Tanya. However, Dazengie intelligently evaded TheDarkSilnce's full screen fireballs and made key blocks on reaction to take the wire-to-wire set.
In Loser's Semis ATP put a quick end to Blujay512's path of destruction. Also, Vibu redeemed himself from last week and 3-0'd Henzzar in Winner's Finals. So Henzzar and ATP faced each other in Loser's Finals. Henzzar's gameplay was riddled with input errors, and the frustration caused him to make some risky moves that ATP would take full advantage of.
Grand Finals Vibu (W) vs ATP (L)
ATP's previous championship came from a bracket reset on Henzzar. This time, he would have to do it against Vibu to get back the throne. And what a reset it was. Both consecutive sets between these players was a demonstration of the highest level gameplay we have ever seen from our Austin weeklies. Both players demonstrated great use of footsies, anti airs, whiff punishes and mind games. The sets could have went either way. However, in the end, ATP would be Grand Champion once again.
Next Time...
New players Stryfe and Fisherman Dill have begun their incubation process to become great fighters. Returning players Blujay512, Dust and JD have committed themselves to challenge Austin's finest. And there are whispers that LoveIn60FPS has been lurking in the shadows, biding his return to Kombat. Any of these players, and more, have the potential to challenge Henzzar, ATP and Vibu. Who will it be? Who's Next?
