I just realized that I have yet to use a single drug since I started this damn game. I've found/made a metric fuckton of them, but I always just store them instead of using them.

Wow. The XP exploit on the BoS ship is the real deal. @_@ When Idiot Savant rank 2 procs, it gives 1770 XP and you can do it in like two minutes.

Honestly it's become very apparent to me that you can play pure melee in a variety of ways given the diversity of perks, skill benefits, and unique and legendary items. So I don't think I can give you a recommendation of stats for a pure melee build. Aside from obviously Strength(should be high of course) and the Iron Fist and Big Leagues perks(which increase damage to melee attacks) and Bloody Mess (which is also increased damage), you can pretty much freestyle what you want to do without being corn holed into having to pick specific perks.

For example,

Survivability-wise: My first character is a glass canon that makes use of Cannibalism and Ghoulish to heal on the fly, where as ol'Grognak up there is pure tank with Toughness, Life Giver, and Adamantium Skeleton to eat attacks.

And,

Weapon-wise: My first character uses medium to fast weapons with bleed and cripple proc's mostly, so she's a hit and run type of melee character that can wither down a group fast as long as i'm on top of things. Grognak uses only the axe and my skills, perks, and approach to enemies is designed entirely around that. It has increased stagger on hit, hits hard as hell, and proc's bleed so basically as long as I get the first hit they're dead. Putting points into Endurance skills makes it so that the times when I do trade the first strike, it's always in my favor. Endurance and Agility kind of synergize in the fact that the axes running swing(as seen in the gif above where I decap that guy) is the best way to start any conflict as it pretty much decimates anything it hits, even beefcakes like Super Mutants, so being able to go from enemy to enemy with it without running out of AP quickly is important.

So it gets down to what kind of weapons do you want to primarily use.

And these are only two possible ways of playing, there are many more you can come up with.

If you had something specific in mind I could probably give you something more solid, like sneaking, or only using fist weapons, or only using slow weapons, or melee weapons that DoT, etc.
I was thinking of doing a fast melee build character with maybe a little stealth on the side.

Also, the main quest is seriously underwhelming. After the institute it just feels like there's a lack of content, sure there is a bunch to explore but the game just feels small to me for some reason.

I never bothered with power armor until I maxed out the nuclear physicist. Now cores feel like they last up to 40 minutes even when sprinting. Plus ejecting them causes mini nuke explosion so that's pretty nice. Jet Pack + fusion core drops = fun

Trying to build up all of the settlements is ass expensive. Even beyond the straight expense, trying to find enough materials is a nightmare. I set up the castle with 9 scavenger stations, and literally can't tell any difference in the amount of materials it's producing.

Has anyone else had certain quests bugged out? I for the life of me have not been able to continue the Silver Shroud quest for like 20 levels. You are supposed to listen to the Silver Shroud radio station while in Goodneighbor. Ive done that as well as listened to it in all the buildings of good neighbour and can never continue the quest :(

Im pretty sure its bugged and I wont be able to do it. Which pisses me off because thats one of the quests that I was most looking forward to doing. Oh well.

So I'm in the Museum of Witchcraft and I find a missile launcher. I give it to Codsworth because I'm thinking "man, I don't need this right now, it's a lot of weight." 2 minutes later, I was wrong, so horribly wrong. Don't make my mistake

Haha. Never and I mean NEVER give your companion an explosive weapon of any kind, especially a Fat Boy.

Are you sure you have a settler assigned to the station? I think you get a healthy amount of stuff from it but it takes some time. Try maybe clearing your junk inventory from the Castle and don't connect it to any other settlements. Just wait and see how much stuff accrues.

Dem feels when you get Idiot Savants effect for completing a mission.
I get like 1770 XP from completing a quest when Idiot Savant procs. Funny thing is, there's a repeatable XP exploit that takes like two minutes to do and awards 300~ base XP. I haven't utilized it yet, however. I might save it for when leveling really slows down. I'm currently half way to 44.

tip for power armour wearers: pick up any overdue book you find as theres a book return machine which sells fusion cores , its located at rivett (i think) beach subway station 50 tokens = 1 fusion core
Ha, ya I found that too.

I've finally seen the light with power armor. Found first two settlements with super mutants. killed them all, except a named one that had a missile launcher. After he one hit killed me a few times, got the power armor and my own missile launcher and knocked him out. took a relay station with a ton of these guys, luring them out still.

On another note, i previously cleared another relay station of raiders, but later graves sent me back to help a settlement. i had to clear raiders from the same relay station, it was weird. everything reset including items, with mini nuke. the only thing that didn't respawn was the fusion core. even the intel room key respawned.

Is that normal that previously cleared areas will be retaken by baddies?

Also, is there an evil play through in this game? i think you can go neutral, but haven't seen any evil choices.

yeah i think some areas the enemies will keep respawning until you do a related quest or just to keep the world populated haha

I have a tower in the center of Sanctuary to hold all of my armor and big guns. This is one of those times where I didn't think about it, but the outcome was not quite what was expected (don't wanna spoil anything for peeps who haven't been there yet). On that note, anyone kind of pissed you can only build upwards by like 3 stories?

@Zoidberg747 I just got that quest myself, next time I play I'll knock it out and see if I have the same issue
