YOMI PRESENTS OUR PRE EVO MKX TIER LIST (RV2.0)

How do you even compare top 8 placings when the game has been out for so little that nobody knows the matchup? Who did alucard beat who knew the matchup and punished the -16 swords? I saw people being hit with B14 ex overhead and absolute gimmicks.

The character is not good. He struggles with few members of the cast and it's not like he can't win but he's not a good character.
Imo Kotal still has more development left, people pressure with him a lot but he can get better as a midrange punishment character as well. He's rarely assed out of situations because of his good armored moves and fast counterpokes, he has great jump attacks, great range, great damage on everything. Yeah overhead sword is unsafe, but that a mixup is unsafe is not a reason for him to be listed so low imo. Just talking about War God here, I definitely think the other two need some help.

usable damage buffs, wake-ups that are decent or safe, anti-airs, etc
Ex charge + lackey ex db2 + ex command grab aren't good enough wakeups? And his antiair is fine, am I the only one using vicious's charge and lackey's ex db2 to sweep the whole sky clean, or lackey's roll to just escape under jumps? Down 2 has a year of startup but there are more ways to deal with jumps than that. Also why even bring up the damage buff? It'd be nice if ruthless was better but it doesn't really matter much considering vicious and lackey are there.

This game is becoming more and more about good normals which I like. Four factors to this:
1) range
2) speed
3) priority
4) multi hitting

Characters IMO with the best buttons based on the above list are:
(in no order)
Lao, Jax, Devorah, Shinnok, Cassie, Cage, Sub, Scorp, Kano, Tanya, Sonya, Erron.

It seems the game has switched slightly from 50/50s to block pressure and chip damage with mixups like Batman in Injustice. They make it a little too easy though with lao's ex hat spin, mournful kitana's ex glave, shoulin ex glave, and tanya ex tonfa. They pretty much give you free pressure and free mixups without the execution. As long as that remains in the game, these characters will continue to move up the list.

Those with good run cancel pressure will also stay relevant. Liu Kang DF, Cage A-list, Scorp hellfire, Jax, and Devorah.

Good 50/50s will keep characters relevant also but placing will be inconsistent.

Unfortunately, if your character isn't one of the ones I listed in the above lists, your probably going to struggle in this game...at least thats my opinion.
EX Tonfa still isnt consistent on everyone in the cast, so I wouldnt consider it easy pressure...

You have to account for his weaknesses. War god shares the same weakness of sun god but slightly less, that anything beyond B1 alone in the b1 string series leads to kotal being punishable, sun god can do nothing about it since it's a visible death sentence while war god has 1-2 ways to mix you up to prevent you from punishing him.

He still doesn't have a threatening mid to impose himself up close, unless you have a bar and are willing to do the equivalent of DP FADC being -15 and providing less reward.

Basing match ups by playing your friends in a group is never a good idea.

Opponents are random and this game is constant guessing, so when you play vs your friends all the time, guessing is reduced because you know what your friend is most likely to do in certain situations.

Lists should be decided on what characters take away other characters options and have the least losing matches.

I can play a million times vs a mate and batter him 10-0, then play vs someone else and they don't make the same decisions your are used to encountering in that match up.

I never really trust tier lists beyond the broken or op characters as those characters can't be avoided or argued against and it will be obvious such as Kabal or last patch Tempest.

Below the broken characters, or flawed match ups, it's too hard to tell.

I know as of right now the only string it works conistently after is F2. Which is good but I really wished it worked consistently off of other strings lol :(

Vicious charge doesn't cover his head, neither does lackey's d.b.2. Lackey roll has 24 frames of recovery or something to that effect.

He is great at blowing up people that are coming in from in front of him. He has nothing he can do if they are jumping over or on top of him because the moves either whiff or just get punished.

Ruthless is the only variation in the entire game thats trademark is unusable. You might as well play Barebones.

b1~ex tonfa. Forces them to block high because the overhead and it kind of jails them into blocking high, which usually jails into the second hit of ex tonfa. You can add me to the PM if you want to discuss the ins and outs of it.

Blood God Kotal is borderline unusable.

Also Deceptive Reptile, not unusable but pretty useless. Dualist also has a lot of bugs and issues...
 
This is the most detailed tier list I've read since the Tom Brady tier predictions after ECT 3 in 2011. Man was he right about Sub-Zero and Kung-Lao... Lmfao

P.s. I still love you Tom, I still believe in the dream.

First I disagree on how all characters that have a MB Teleport move that attacks (besides Tanya now after the changes) get to have armor on wake up besides Mileena. It's not like my teleport is safe on block or anything. I get full punished for it whether you avoid or block it.

The next thing I feel needs addressing is her F3. How do you have a move that is 1st off 33 FRAMES (which makes it the slowest Overhead normal in the entire game) and 2nd doesn't do it's job of being a low crusher & can get beat out by low hitting attacks when she is clearly airborne. I also feel the ender of the string F3,4,3 should be an overhead to give her (if you somehow make your opponent block a F3) a meterless mixup because as a whole Mileena has NO MIXUP without meter.

Finally I feel that she needs safer frames on a lot of her strings. Mainly on the strings that have no mixup & are specifically used as poking tools. Right now her poking tools are either too slow or have no reach. It's made worse by all the negative frames she has.

How about instead of making everyone and their brother safe on everything...

we nerf some of the safeness of other characters and make them actually have to take risks?
