Problem is it's giving us less reasons to use other variations. The nerf puts Outlaw well ahead of Marksman, whereas previously they were both as viable as eachother. Gunslinger just needs a revamp.
It's not that big of a nerf to Marksman and Outlaw certainly isn't well-ahead. Marksman still has safe, meterless 50/50s, better pressure and better zoning than Outlaw. All that happened was Marksman loses a little damage if you're going for oki. No biggie.

Outlaw got nerfed just as -if not harder - than Marksman imo. Outlaw has less tools for pressure than Marksman so tick throw pressure was extremely useful because you get to run up and 50/50 after it. Now that Sand Trap is more negative on hit, he can't start his 50/50s after a tick throw so he has to work harder than Marksman outside of combos.

Also expect Sand Toss to be full-combo punished 99% of the time now. There were a lot of missed punishes at Combo Breaker so Outlaw gets away with less.

Overall, I think this was a really clever nerf by NRS. Props to them.

What makes you think outlaw is way better than marksman now? All we lost is some midscreen oki. We still have his awesome pressure, safe mixups and damage. I think marksman is still going to be hella good.

Wat? You don't need to be advantage for pressure, just look at MK9 Cage. Once the opponent stops pressing buttons you get free 50/50s off of 21122. Once they start pressing buttons you get free combos off of Swing Shot.

If I lose 4% at the end of each combo but I'm able to maintain better pressure and keep my safe meterless standing resets into more safe meterless 50/50s, I'll gladly take that loss. You make it sound like he loses like 10% if he's going for oki.

Outlaw only has good oki with meter. Without meter his 50/50s are extremely unsafe and if you decide to go for tick throws, your pressure ends whether they get hit or not. Regardless, this isn't 'Outlaw vs Marksman' - they'll both be more/less useful in different MUs.

It's all so very confusing.
We're 100% caught up except for the Hot Fix, which Ed Boon has said on twitter will be here later today for us.

Im back from the hospital and on Steam.., MK patched, I was excited, I logged in.. We dont have the most recent balance changes in yet. I checked frame data for several characters, and just to be sure, checked Raidens F1 and its still a mid.

Sigh. Masybe they will follow in the hot fix patch.. unless that's already dropped.

NRS getting better and better at patching.

Have been quite pleased with every patch so far. For the most part, it's all been top characters getting reasonable nerfs and weaker characters getting buffs.

No more reading injustice patch notes to find that MMH got his teleport buffed or Aquaman kept his braindead ex trident rush chip damage AGAIN.

Think we're going to end up with a very good game.

You could log in and jump in to training mode, check the frame data changes and see if they are listed, or if you dont trust it to display correctly, jump on Raiden in training mode and f1 the dummy ai. If its a high, then the balance patch has gone through, if its a mid, hasnt. Make sure its F1, its regular 1 is a high already I think.

Sry if this has been asked a lot already, but when do non kombat pack owners receive the hotfix for PSN? Or is it already out and there's something I have to do to download it?

Wait, what? Takeda is buffed? Who the fuck thought Takeda needed buffs?

And where are those Inferno nerfs?

The Blood God and Sun God buffs have me excited, though.
 
Balance patch should make Mileena's EX roll hit low and make her sai blast safe on block up close but plus 52 on hit and also increase the damage you take on hit. Plus her F3 should be 8 frames faster with the ability to run cancel out of it, plus instead of only having fade in ethereal, she should have it across all variations with the ability to do it in the air into air attacks but also with a better startup and the EX version should hit you into a juggle.

Sound ridiculous? I think so too.

I said nerfs, not buffs. Too many overhead options if you ask me. F2 (hard knockdown), F4 (special cancellable), overhead demon from all distances.
My bad man, I don't even know why I read that as buffs. I agree he needs nerfs. Fuck that braindead character.

What scorpion needs is to whiff his braindead teleport more often. He needs to stop knicking people out of the air into a full combo anywhere on the screen. It's worse than Kung Lao's spin, you can't even breathe or move or you get instachecked by teleport into a full combo.

It was fine in MK9 tracking wise.
