I just want to see other people play Ancestral lol.

221~lunge kick and 343 don't work. Sorry I said those off the top of my head based on another combo. You can use 34~lunge kick or 221~Load any Arrow instead
For f3 you load the arrow after the hard knockdown. If you do it time it right, you still have advantage
Ah ok thanks, that clears it up a bit. Didn't feel like my timing was off, more so the game just didn't want me to connect it.

New max damage combo off non- launching starters( B14, f24, 221 etc but not 343/f2d1):


Starter~Stun Arrow, dash, late nj2, walk forward 34, ji3~dk 34-Lunge Kick (31-35%)

I recommend ending in f3 though for the knock-down. b34 is also an option if you don't want to load another arrow.

 
Hi all. I am a bit lost with all this talk of option select. Can anyone explain it to me please ? Does Kung Jin's actually have option selects ?
Canceling F2,4 at the last possible moment with a special move counts as option select ?

example of an option select for kung jin would be this: 1,1,db3+block(hold block),d,d(have to be quick on this)

now what happens is if they block, the db3 will not come out and you will continue to block. if they dont block, the enhanced db3 will come out and you can continue your combo.

Guys I'm not sure you need to practice Jin's option selects. You can easily hit confirm everything he does.
I have and for KJ I don't see the utility for it. F24 and b14 both turn into f243 and b143. While F243 can be hit confirmed, the reaction time to see that 3 hits them is impossible to do and b143 is still relatively safe and not comboable

Shaolin (aka Turok) Midscreen Optimized bnbs:

(starter) - EX low Razor Wind - J1 or J2 > dive kick - NJP - Run > 34 > up kick > leg drop

37% from 221, 33% from b14 / f24 if I'm remembering offhand correctly.


Corner:

(starter) - EX low Razor Wind - NJP - J4 - 34 - instant dive kick - 34 > up kick > leg drop

38% from 221.


I really like this version a lot
 
just got owned by an ancestral KJ online he played rly good and almost did 2 perfects on me
but I have to admit thats the first time Ive faced this variation and had no clue how to defend
it seems like ancestral has a lot of potential
some ppl might be right and with the time ancestral might actually be the better / overall stronger variation for KJ
I wonder why Chris G has chosen this variation over bojutsu

So how much damage do we lose after the patch? I'm going to test it soon..

b14/f24 both do around 31-32% midscreen meterless max, corner damage is pretty hard to get above 40 and the standard corner 111 swat 4 swat j3 dk 4 swing does around 39% now. Max midscreen meterless I could get was 34% which was 111 swat run 3 swat divekick run 34 swing. 221 ex swing, run, 3 swat, ji3 divekick, 34 swing does 39% now

I'm assuming we will have to either remove the multiple swats from combos now as I think that is what is doing the heavy scaling, but this is all off the top of my head as I just tested this like 10 mins ago. Incorporating ex fire like corzz mentioned a while ago is probably going to be the go to in the corner

Yes, basically same treatment as Raiden combo's -5% but basically on all his bnb's.

Yes, basically same treatment as Raiden combo's -5% but basically on all his bnb's. There is also no point in doing the run 3 swat anymore as same damage you get with jump towards 4 divekick.
raiden's was more than 5%, he went from mid 50's 1 bar to low 40s at best (corner), but yeah general bnb's were 5% or so

Yeah. I was confident they would go one way or the other (damage nerf or frame nerf) but they kind of did both. Still though, he has a great neutral jump, a very respectable dive kick, and a safe low starter. He's still going to be pretty solid I think. I honestly think the overhead nerf is justified.

If there's anything good to come out of it, these guys won't have to listen to people whining about their character anymore which is cool.

i think its ok, it was stupid to have safe 50/50 and even now overhead option is not THAT fucking unsafe. i will still main Kung Jin and i think he will be more fun to use now. hope people stop crying.
 
patch notes

• Kung Jin - Cartwheel Smash is now -3 on block (down from +4)

• Kung Jin (Bojutsu) – Several staff attacks were not combo damage scaling correctly
 
btw now when sub zero blocks any attack his clone disappears, so matchup should be easier now, he blocks our neutral jump, bd4 etc and clone just goes away.
