Strategy "There Is No Justice!" - Scorpion Oki & Mixups thread

SmokeMaster

I got no time for whining!!!
This is simple but worth noting. His vortex remains in tact but better in my opinion because the low is pretty much hit confirmable now and the overhead(b2), is much safer on block than the traditional overhead sword smash. Buyers beware though....this game patches anything thats too good to be true and right now this character is very overpowering with mixups and his improved vortex. Dont get too reliant on it. Havent been able to check yet to see if b2 can be fuzzy guarded though.
I have to agree with you on that one. If he remains unchecked he is definitly top 5. I see major nerfs on this character in the future. Until then, I'm abusing the hell out of him.

I think I found a possible mixup/reset will post and or put up a vid when I get home

almost moderate success
Can someone post the commands for his vortex
Probly easiest after landing a spear with mb, then its f2,2, teleport. The stagger from the teleport is what causes the 50-50 mixup. So after the teleport you have the option of either b2 as a combo starter, or b1,2, into spear as a combo starter. If the oppenent has you figured out you can always throw after the teleport or just continue with whatever pressure strings you would like that are safe. Hope that helped. Lookup STB Takeachance forum on scorpions vortex. I know he posted several exact inputs on that.

Hello everyone.

So ive been messing around with scorpion a bit and ive found something pretty awesome with Scorpion's F22U3 string. The string is a legit standing reset, but typically sends them full screen, you can however do it late enough in the combo to have enough gravity scaling so that the teleport actually whiffs, leaving you at advantage right next to them. ill post a video within the next few days showing this.

The combos ive been using this with that have the proper scaling are:
B12~teleport f113~spear MB b3 trait f22u3~tele.
b2 f113~ tele f11 spear mb f22u3 tele
MB tele j2/3 f113~tele f22 spear mb f22u3.

the b2 and mb teleport versions can get a bit more damage by doing b3 trait into f22u3, but the trait isnt required, it seems however in the b12 combo that when the spear is connected not enough gravity has been applied, so you have to b3 and then standing reset them via the trait to get the f22u3 off finally at enough scaling.

They additionally can be extended with any background wall bounces as well.

Good video, well done. Perfect example of the types of threads that should be being created.

Thanks Gengar

Thank you! that means alot =] I really think that this is a legitimate strategy to use, and im sure that it can be optimized as well. it seems that depending on how the combo is done and how much grav scaling exists at the time of the f22u3 determines how much advantage you actually get from this, though im unsure currently if more or less gravity scaling is what you want to go for.

How about j3 112 tele 113 spear MB j2 f22u3 tele (33%). Seems to have the same scaling and a little more advantage.

yeah thats what ive been working with too actually lol, but im doing, or trying and failing to do =[, j3 2u3~tele 2u3~spear mb u2f22u3 tele

EDIT: turns out its the same damage, 33%. im sure its also close to the same advantage as well, unless 2u3 has extra grav scaling on it for some reason

Put down the controller and run!
Nice set ups! Another one i am finding usefull is combos that can be finished with a second spear then teleport(empty) throw. It is a hard to react if you don't expect it. Scorpion comes from behin in front of you to trow you or preassure. It is hard to tell which way you should wake up!

This except I don't do u3 at the end so I can leave them standing
That is what I be been doing and it can be a mind Fuck
After the reset, u have many options, u can neutral jump 1 into b1 trai or b2, or cross over jump 1 into the same options, or crossover 3 into 112 rinse repeat and many other options

And what exactly is stopping the opponent from just teching the knockdown and rolling?
I have my dummy set to tech roll and the teleport still finds them after whiffing. You can also cancel f22 into teleport instead of doing f22u3. The teleport will hit which puts you at +26. Same damage.

Yeah this is a really fast-paced, risky reset but I can see how this would be really strong especially against people that have never seen it before. REO brings up a good point though, nothing really stops your opponent from teching this really, if they know how to react to it? But I suppose that the yomi there would be to wait for your opponent to show they know how to get out before you start worrying about catching them trying to get out. I'd label this as good tech just because of how visually quick it is, nobody's reacting to this shit and reacting to it the first time, especially if you lead off with the overhead

also nothing stopping you from just doing f22 tele or 112 tele right?

f+2,2 into teleport is ass. 1,1,2~teleport is the best option and has been since day one. I think everyone just forgot and it's been overlooked.
