Nice match of offense and defense here...

Kung Lao has the ability to quickly get inside Subby's defenses without major risk. Sub Zero will often look to aaRH all aerial attacks, but a bullet kick can often catch him off guard and setup Lao for more damage. If all else fails, a teleport will also get Lao inside where he can apply jab pressure, headbutts, and the whirlwind spin for big damage. Lao can also play the turtling game well with Subby. If he gets a life lead, he can sit back and toss a couple hats while waiting for a jump-in then go for a whirlwind spin launcher. Counter slides with an uppercut.

Subby can play a turtling game against Lao, but like most other opponents he faces Sub needs to have a life lead first. If Sub has a lead, he can play his standard aaRH game with jump-ins, but it's probably better to counter by ducking (or stand-blocking) and uppercutting once Lao comes down. Lao is most likely going to try and bullet kick which will leave little time to AA counter him. Counter all teleports with a well-timed uppercut. And of course, freeze Lao if he starts getting spam happy with hats.

Sub can give Lao problems if he has a lead, but Lao is usually on top of things. 7-3 for Lao, maybe 8-2.

I find that this match is best played aggressively as the Sub player. By just simply walking forward into sweep range, you can pressure Lao into alot of unsafe dive kicks. Lao definitely has a decisive advantage in this matchup, but he has to really be on point to maintain that advantage.

Love this match with Lao. I feel completely unthreatened, as Lao beats Sub from every angle.
It's relatively easy to read a freeze coming and just quickly dive kick him with Lao.

8-2 for Lao.

 8-2 really? Sub zero demolishes kung lao in everyway. All kung lao has is jab punches and he has to keep pressure against sub. That hat trick means nothing if sub zero freezes you. Man im not giving away my strategies
away lol.

Sub-Zero demolishes Lao? LOL ok, well you play a 10 set vs MIKECALDWELL 's Lao. Anybody's Sub-Zero would be LUCKY to win 2 of those 10. Lao is one of my worst characters, yet I hardly ever lose this match. Sub is 1-dimensional, while Lao is not.

I started playing again on Mame with an elite player named Divine, and he truly believes Sub destroys Lao.
He thinks Lao is a low tier character. (I don't know how someone elite level can not know how good Lao is but....?)
Kinda funny that people either feel this is an 8-2 match for Lao, or an 8-2 match for Sub.

If Lao can move in real time, he has NO problems with Sub.
He beats Sub up close, and he beats him playing the wait and bait game as well.
From afar, all Sub can do is 1) duck, 2) throw Freezes, 3) Slide, or 4) jump in.
All 4 of those choices leave Lao in the driver seat as he can:

1) aim a Hat low against a ducking Sub
2) jump over Freezes and Dive Kick
3) block a Slide and punish with an uppercut
4)anti-air a jumping Sub with either a Spin, a High Kick, a jump punch/Dive Kick, or an aaHP/Hat Throw

An elite Sub vs elite Lao, Lao should win at least 7-3.

Yeah I'm sorry but that statement about Sub owning Lao is nothing more than a joke for all the reasons listed above. My Lao isn't bad and I rarely lose that matchup unless I get bored. Sub can turtle all he wants against Lao. He will lose.

Trading a Hat for a Freeze/uppercut isn't the worst thing in the world either.
Sub will do more damage but it won't cost Lao the match.
